for the price i have not found better middle eastern food in stamford. they serve amazing shawarma and just all around good middle eastern food. again for the money. you can probably find better but not at this price. great lunch place. we often order out, but the exposure i have had to the staff has been very positive.

Everything I've had at Layla's so far has been pretty delish. I usually get the Arabic Chicken Shawarma-- basically marinated grilled chicken wrapped up in a wrap, then grilled. It's served with this AMAZING garlic dip. I swear, I would go there even if they just served garlic dip. It is SOOOOOO good. Unfortunately it wreaks havoc on your breath for the next several hours. I also like the Falafel Deluxe sandwich, which is falafel and fried eggplant. Their falafel are good, tasty and crispy. I usually stare at the menu when I come in, trying to will myself to order something besides the Chicken Shawarma-- but alas, I usually cannot resist the siren song of the garlic dip. I was disappointed when I noticed that they don't make their own pitas, and the cucumber and tomato salad that comes in a side with some dishes is none too exciting. But the garlic dip... the gaaarrrrlic dip.... The staff are always very friendly. Funnily, they were even open in their Stamford location before they had the tables and chairs in. Needless to say, it was carry-out only that day.

Mmmmm falafel!!! This place is great. Every since the day in Jerusalem when I got that tasty sandwich from a street vendor, I've been hooked. Now, a falafel isn't a falafel isn't a falafel. I've had some that aren't so good. But this place is GREAT! It's not dry or crumbly like some of those impostor falafel places. And it comes with the fresh veggies inside, AND if you know what you're really doing, you can request pickles and turnips!! Also, they have options for a pita, a platter or my favorite, a sandwich (kind of like a wrap). Mmmmm!!! The other stuff they have is also great though I usually go with a craving for the falafel. The interior isn't all that nice but it's fine for a quick lunch or take out. They could really use some wall decorations or something to liven it up a bit. They are also opening a new one sometime this year down on Main street. So they say for all the late night drinkers...I'm not sure middle eastern food is what I'm looking for after a late night of drinking...but then again...

i have tried their Lamb Shwarma sandwich and the Lamb Shwarma Platter, so those are the only two i can review, as I have repeatedly just tried those two. The Sadwich is EXCELLENT. The place has been there for some time but recently when I have gone there, it has been croded. Lines almost forming to the door at lunch time, which is a good sign. The service takes about 10 minutes to get your food. The rest of the menu looks good, but I am so happy with my Lamb Shwarma that I have not cared to try anything else

I was in town and looking for a quick lunch, and I have to say, Layla's was better than any quick middle-eastern spot I've found in Chicago. Falafel is great and the Arabic chicken was incredible. Also, they have this salted fermented milk drink that I really like....

this place was another discovery. im a big fan of mediterranean food and this place was absolutely great. only been there once, a little pricier than other med places, but well worth it. the owner was really nice too (at the Stamford location)

I have to say, the loud signage outside of this place is kind of off-putting. I tend to not trust places that openly tout they have the best of anything - but wow, they actually do! My husband tried it first and brought home babaganoush for me, which is how I measure a good middle eastern joint. Phenomenal! CHUNKS of eggplant and exactly the right flavor. Went back for lunch and got the chicken kabob platter which is a huge meal in and of itself. Chunks of white meat, rice lentils, small salad and amazing hummus. This place is a boon for my middle eastern cravings. Love.

This is potentially the best middle eastern food I have had yet. Falafel with great flavor but crispy outside slightly soft inside, amazing homemade humous, all meat is tender and juicy, and they're eggplant is very delicious with great flavor. Their downtown location even has hookahs that you can smoke from, and if you are really lucky you can sometimes smoke at their high ridge location too. All in all though at their high ridge rd location what beats their food is their service. The owners daughter can be seen there working like crazy anytime you are there but you will always be met with a smiling face and pleasant personality.
