Really REALLY cheap (can get a weeks worth of veggies and fruits for two people, one of which is a vegetarian, for under $10). A fun place to go and browse through all the interesting Latino and Middle-Eastern foods and interesting fruits and vegetables. Also (according to the meat-eater in the household), they have a good selection of fresh meat. You have to be ready to search for veggies and fruits that are not over-ripe or bruised, but it's definitely worth it!

Like Deborah K, before me, I will drive the 50 miles to go to this store as well. But Luckily for me, my mother lives up the street, so I can crash at her house.(No point in driving that 50 miles for nothing). I have to agree with everthing that Deborah K said. I love to shop here all year round. Everything is super cheap. I love to experiment with new Middle -Eastern items that are in stock. Like on Monday, I picked up some rose water, and the time before that pomegranate molasses. Here is the caveat, Most of the time, the produce is fresh, beautiful and text book looking, but there has been several times I walked in and walked right back out, because of the produce. I have to say that this has happened more times than I would like to admit, but the times I go in there and everything is great, more than out-weights the bad times. Here is the breakdown: go there if you are in the area, ( I know, why on earth would you want to hang in Ontario, when you can hang in the BEACH!), or going to see your mom (Hi Mom!), or you are feeling adventurous .Did I mention they have a meat counter? A lot of their meat is Halal certified. I can't tell you exactly what that means, but from what I read, it is very similar to Kosher. Ontario Farmers Market, I will be seeing you this weekend!

I enjoyed my visit to this rather small market. The produce is indeed cheap, and the offerings were quite varied. I was thrilled to find fava beans, although I could not find any fresh ones. On the other hand, I did find fresh garbanzo beans in little green pods- never saw that before! They have a nice selection of spices and packaged Middle Eastern foods, and quite a cheese selection in the refrigerators towards the back. If you want to use a debit or credit card, be sure to buy at least $10 worth of stuff or you will have to pay cash.

I have been known to make the 60 mile trek to this produce/Middle Eastern market JUST to buy some veg.The problem is that when I do that I'm so happy with what I got that I inevitably want to drive out the next weekend too. And the next. And the next. They have fresh dates on the vine that you can take home to ripen and turn into lovely lovely amazing bits of confection and wonderful-ness. But only when they're in season. All their produce is seasonal-only, STELLAR quality, with an amazing rich and unexpected variety and the most ridiculous rock-bottom prices that makes $3.30/gallon gasoline still a bargain compared to how much high-quality amazing and often exotic produce I can get there for next to nothing. I've been known to fill up my trunk and half my backseat on $12. No lie. They also have middle-eastern offerings, LOTS of great spices, baklava, cheeses, all kinds of fun stuff...halloumi. LOVE halloumi. Beans in bulk, if I recall correctly. And a candy and nut section as well.OMG the fresh fava beans. I forgot about those. Mmmmmm. But I simply have yet to find produce this fantastic AND this cheap anywhere in the city. And this "farmer's market" is open daily.

This place is cheap. I bought a grocery cart full of fresh vegetables, fruits, and savories and it only cost $35. It's stunning really just how cheap the fresh stuff is. After we started going here, we totally avoid buying anything fresh at the local grocery store. They also have zabiha halal meat which is GREAT since there are not many places in Ontario that sell halal. But if I recall correctly, only the beef is zabiha, the chicken isn't (I'd check though, I might have reversed it). Also, you can buy halal marshmallows (perfect for those bonfires), hookahs, and halal canned spam (I bought it but have yet to brave trying it). Oh, and they have all these different kinds of cheese from around the world (and I don't just mean the European countries like the way Trader Joe does). I have plans of going in and trying all of the different types of cheese they have.
