Meh.Pretty small venue and a different vibe.  Not bad, but not very impressive either.19 dollars for a single hookah, single hose.... uhm, what a freaking rip off. They do have nice hours however.  During the week open till 1am and 3am on the weekends. The waitresses were really friendly and accommodating as well. You wanna burn dinero? Go here

This place serves as downtown boot-camp for kids who aren't quite 21.Prepare to have your ID scrutinized like you're in F'n Pacific Beach to come into an 18+ hookah bar. A HOOKAH BAR.Fumari's (and it's staff) really ought to get over itself.

My favorite Hookah place in San Diego.First of all, it has that chill loungy type of atmosphere and they really don't care how long you hang out with your hookah.  The flavor menu is very extensive as well, and they let you smell samples when you order, and mix and match as you please (green apple and fakhfakhina is a good combo).  The seating and cushions and benches are all so comfy and the music is not too loud so you can actually hear people talking.  Also, the service is really good and the staff are all very friendly and laid back (even the bouncer!).  The cappucinos are great as well, and they give you a rock candy stirring stick to go with it (my favorite detail about the place).  All in all, 4 stars for being such a fantastic place downtown to spend a few hours chilling with friends, talking, sipping cap, and smoking hookah.

My boyfriend is going to kill me for not giving Fumaris 5 stars but I have to say that my only complaint is that they charge $20 per Hookah when you can buy a whole package of tobacco for only $9.. and to the people who are not aware how much tobacco is put in each hookah its only about a pinch! I wish they would at least make them $10 because they are making a killing off charging so much for the tobacco. Anyway, besides that... this place is nice and the staff is very friendly. The inside is nice and there are CLEAN couches to lounge on and smoke your hookah. In general the crowd is very laid back and easy going. As far as Hookah bars go, this is my fave place in SD hands down! P dot S dot: I suggest buying an actual hookah it will save you sooooo much money if you tend to go to hookah bars a lot!

This was my first time ever going to a Hookah bar. It was a neat experience. They have a wide variety of flavors to choose from. I also ordered several cocktails which were delicious.  The atmosphere is very laid back and everyone seemed pretty chill.  I think it is a little pricey though, but its San Diego.

What a little treasure in Gaslamp.  I've been to many hookah lounges, and Fumari does it well.  I went to Fumari on a recent trip and smoked the white peach.  hEllO, if you haven't tried this flavor, then you don't know what you're missing.  I only noticed that they offer Fumari shisha... depressing news if you're a hookah junkie who loves Romman or Starbuzz, but the Fumari selection is decent. And, allow me to step up and say a few words to you yelpers who are complaining about price.  Trust me, no one complains about price more than me, but you guys need to get rEAl.  I know hookah lounges attract cheap-asses but come on, hEllO, of course hookah is going to be $19.  A movie ticket is $10, so as long as you're not a loser smoking by yourself, then you're going to be splitting the tab with someone, ya?The cost of shisha etc., making a bowl, is irrelevant.  $19 is the experience.  And Fumari doesn't have a full bar, so it's not like they'll make it up on liquor.  Get over it and pay the $19, have a good time, and stop yelping about chump change.Fumari, you're excellent.  Bravo.  And keep hiring hot doormen.  As long as you do, I'll keep coming back. This has been a Review by FulgencioThis place is on my short list for good hookah bars.Pros:Excellent Hookah selectionNice environmentKnowledgeable staffGood Happy hour pricesCons:Crowded during late nightMore expensive regular hour pricesOnly bottled Beer, no liquorHmmmm... Hookah is where I found most of my friends while stationed in SD for 2 years.  There is a large crowd that comes to Fumari and if you are single I think it would be a nice place to meet people.  I used to come to Fumari about 5 days a week mainly because I knew a lot of people there!  I love their tobacco and but it regularly now that I am without the lounge.  I suggest this as a hangout.Very chill environment and the people are awesome.  The workers are HOOKAHNEERS , they know their smoke.  My flavor of choice is the infamous WHITE PEACH.  Trust me it is orgasmic and the perfect mood tobacco.Small place, and expensive. Good sandwishesTHE best hookah lounge in San Diego. Hands down, no question about it. Being Middle Eastern and understanding a lot about hookahs, the staff here does the best job in setting up a good hookah for its customers. The hookahs are good quality, but the hookah tobacco is the BEST. I only buy my hookah tobacco from here. I suggest Watermelon and Mint Chocolate Chip to everyone, but in general, many of the flavors are very good. Great flavor and thickness of smoke. Sinbads, Egyptian Tea Room, or any other hookah lounge in San Diego has nothing on Fumaris. Fairly large sized lounge, can get crowded at night, but very worth it.

I love to sit down at Fumari to let off some smoke after a long week. It's great to sit on the sidewalk patio watching people pass as you puff a really good tobacco flavor out of their hookahs and a cold beer to boot! Yes drink and smoke. A natural relaxant.Fumari is a relaxed atmosphere and the employees are nice people. Not all the smartest but they try to be attentive most of the time.Hookahs are a little pricey at $19 but it's an experience. They have like 25 flavors of quality tobacco to choose from and they use a nice clean charcoal, resulting in good clean smoke. Even for a non-smoker, it's enjoyable. If there's a line, I won't wait, but I don't wait wait in lines - period.

The first time I came here I had a wonderful experience. There was 6 of us and we had a corner table. Service was a little bit slow but we weren't ignored, they were simply busy. A girl came out with a rack of sheesha to choose and smell from, and even when we asked she gave us her thought of which she thought was the best. Everyone we came with felt it was very laid-back amp; chill, and overall enjoyed the atmosphere. We decided to come back again, this time there was 8 of us. We were placed on the side, in the middle. 5 of us came later so the other 3 already had their hookah. When the 5 of us finally decided on our flavors, without the rack to choose from, it took forever to get someone's attention, and it wasn't even as busy as last time. After placing our order, we noticed the people next to us leaving and they had an end table. We thought.. hey! there's 8 of us and that's a bigger space and we could maneuver the hookahs better there. After trying to get their attention again and seeing the seats empty, we decided to move ourselves. As soon as we all got up and were about to pick up the one hookah we had, because we still hadn't gotten the other, we were screamed at by one of the guys. He explained it would be his ass if it broke and blah blah blah. OKAY. I understand. Since we finally had his attention, we ask, can we move to the corner seat. He fired back with no because he had BIGGER groups coming in and he needed that space. OKAY fine, we saw the line outside. After waiting a bit and finally getting our 2nd hookah, still noticing the empty corner seat, he finally sat 4 people there. ARE YOU SERIOUS? bigger group? The rest of the night we weaved our hoses in and out and around the table so everyone could try the flavors, trying to not break the hookahs BECAUSE it would be his ASS.I would have to think twice before coming back here. We went to a place around the block for hookah awhile ago with 7 people and they were more friendlier, attentive, accommodating to us. And alittle more expensive, but atleast I know we'll get the service.Btw, why can't we get a beer if we present our military id? I mean our picture and birthday is on it too. Would you still deny me a beer if I showed you my passport? Not everyone drives and has a driver's license ya know
