Blink-and-you-miss-it set up near a laundromat and a taco shop, so keep your eyes good and peeled. It actually looks bigger from the outside: the minute you step in, you run into the soda machine directly ahead or into some chairs to the side. Luckily, you can step outside and eat on the deck; just be prepared to breathe in someone's car exhaust as it is adjacent to the parking lot. Don't get discouraged, though, because the price and serving size makes up for these inconveniences (if you consider them so). It's "cozy" for sure, but that's what I like and why I dine here. Not to mention that the owner/cook is quite possibly the nicest, most accomodating and pleasant restauranteur in the city. Slightly eccentric and therefore, awesome. I vote her for my clairvoyant aunt. She makes a crazy good baba ganoush. Yes, the color is a little twisted; this is when you can close your eyes and just eat. Also incredibly tasty is her tabouleh- wow! The proportions are just right and can be a complete meal with her generous servings of pita bread. Come here and make her day not with your business, but with your smile and presence.

Cafe Zahir is an absolute gem of a hole in the wall. Run by a friendly, middle aged woman and sometimes her younger daughter, this place is never as busy as it ought to be. The food is excellent, as are the drinks, and service is great! The owner just recently started serving hookah as well as delectable treats like dolmeh, gyros, yummy salads and equally yummy sandwiches. She also has an espresso/coffee menu which rocks :)I wonder if it is wise to put out this review, seeing as it would (once word of mouth gets out) get crazy busy, but nah, people need to know about this one! Go check it out if you like being able to people watch while you eat. There is a patio outside with more seating than the three tables inside, and being on Adams Ave, there is plenty to watch!

A great meal with a great hookah, the owner is a very nice lady who seems to run the place by herself. I recommend this place.

i agree with the other reviewers - for a veritable speck in a strip mall, this place is a great neighborhood treat. it is tiny, so i'd recommend take out, but their salad platter is a great deal (with ample hummus, baba, tabouleh, falafel, etc) and the lentil soup is absolutely delicious. but cheap eats, great quality, and warm service - what's not to like?
