Great Bar in PB to watch football, drink beer, and eat delicious food!!! As long as there's not a steelers game, then you can't even get in there!Tater Tots are like crack here. So good you cant stop. Along with the unlimited peanuts. You put either one of those things in front of me and I cant stop eating them.Good Daytime drinking bar to stop in for a few pints and grab lunch.Steaky Steakums?? Do it!Chicken Sando?? Do it!Philly cheesesteak?? Do it!

the bf and I came here to root on a friend that was participating in the wing contest on Wednesday night. The place was packed but luckily some of our buddies scored a table. We ordered 20 wings in various flavors, all of which were really tasty and cheap at 25 cents each! The service was also good and they kept the wings coming at a steady pace. The guys are also on top of collecting empty cups and dirty plates. Also came here a second time with a buddy during happy hour. All the tables were full and there was barely any room at the bar. They have a lot of empty floor space now that they've expanded, but why not get some more tables? I'm sure they could put at least 5 more tables and still have plenty of space for ppl to move around. So we ended up ordering fr the bar and being harassed by a drunken out of towner. Luckily, I put on my table stalking goggles and scored us a booth not too long afterwards. We ordered 2 well drinks, chicken strips and tots for $12! It doesn't get too crazy like Johnny V's or PB Bar and Grill and it's a chill place to get good wings, cheap eats and drinks and good times. Heads up--go early to score a table if you're going during happy hour.

They have the coolest thing..Russian Roulette Wings..One of the 10 are super hot and will make your eyes water and "blow your head off". It is spicyer, but didnt make me yearn for h20 or more beer, but was defently hotter. They have great food and large sizes. The tater tots are THE BOMB DOGG. Usually have a good beer special also. Drinks are good priced, and their happy hour has super cheap bites. My burger was HUGE and my woman's sandwich was better than anything you'd get at subway or quiznos for a buck or two more. Eat at Bubs...

Rampaging Roethlisberger, Bub's is the biggest Steelers bar in San Diego. Our hero swung by most recently for Halloween (when there was surprisingly no cover), and realized their 1/2 off all pitchers special on Friday/Saturday from 7-9PM is awesome. SIX DOLLARS for a pitcher of porter at peak times??? YES!Even though Bub's tries really hard, it's far from what our hero would classify as a "dive bar". The peanut shells from the complimentary shelled nuts tend to stack up on the floor as the evening progresses, making each successive step crunchier over time.Hey... what the hell is this peanut shell doing in our hero's sock?PROS:- Good Friday/Saturday 7-9 PM happy hour for pitchers.- Surprisingly spacious with a lot of seating.- Complimentary peanuts that you can throw at people and chuck the shells all over the place.CONS:- You'll have to pay a cover during random busy times.

Everything on the menu is great!! The staff is awesome! The owner is Super cute and a great hugger!! Come and enjoy a bar. A real bar! Not some fufu, stuck up, fashion focused, club. Thank you Bubs for keeping San Diego grounded. and shit faced =)

Ever since this place expanded, it's sucked more.Food is still great, beer has stayed the same.Clientele has gotten worse (more touristy looking to fight because you're wearing the wrong hat) and throwing peanut shells on the floor does not make you a dive.Could be much worse, but far from great. Charging cover on a Friday is weaker than a kitten playing Laser Tag. Wow.... bad day the other day. While I'm not a fan, my two friends are. Went in mid-week with two…

If you're a Steeler Fan, stay home to watch the game or go to another Steeler bar!!! This USED to be a great Steeler bar...lots of camaraderie and a cool place to go cheer on your team with other Steeler fans. BUT since the remodel, this bar is NOT a Steeler bar! Filled with the opposing team taunting Steeler fans with put downs, etc... it's actually WORSE than a regular sports bar! I think opposing team fans now go there to purposely taunt Steeler fans...it's a bad environment with a lot of tension in the air- absolutely no FUN and NOT the way a TRUE Steeler fan would like to watch the game! Don't waste your time... Bub's is a complete DISAPPOINTMENT to Steelers fans everywhere!

I LOVE BUBS!!!I'm a native Pennsylvanian, and now that I live in San Diego (well, since '07), its awesome to go to a place that is like home. Well, I am an insane Steeler fan, so I'm probably a little biased. Super Bowl '09 here was absolutely insane. Best super bowl I ever had. It's a GREAT bar. The staff is really friendly and fun, and its really big and spacious. The food is awesome, the choices of beer are greatI think Bub's is an ok spot on any given day, but after my last visit I have to bump them up to a 4. I came for a buddies b-day breakfast, and had an awesome time altogether. My friend likes to drink so of course being his b-day we ordered all sorts of funny shots for him to do which the wait staff was not only happy to make, but they even comped a few of them on the account of it being a celebration. We got him a 'blowjob shot' with Jameson to start. It is whiskey with whip cream on top, and you have to take it with your hands behind your back so you get cream all over your face. These are typically bachelorette party types of shots, but we thought it would be funny to ad Jameson to it and have him do one. After seeing how funny this was the server brought us all a round of the male version, 'the muff-diver'-- on the house. It is the same thing only instead of on the tip it is served in a martini glass with the whip cream around the edges. You have to fish the shot out leaving cream all over your face as well. More hilarity ensued with this as you can imagine. I topped off the shot-buying brigade with a final tricky classic from my college days--'the tidal wave.' This is when the person you are playing the joke on gets some sort of clear alcohol, and everyone else in the group has a shot of water. When you're about to take the shots all those with water throw it in the face of the person with liquor. It's a fun trick shot for b-days or initiations. I had it done to me once back in the day, and have recycled it on others ever since. The coolest part about this is that when the servers all heard about this idea they were all about joining in on the fun. Just make sure that your target has a sense of humor. The food far exceeded my expectations. I got a breakfast burrito, which was soooo much better than I thought it would be. You would not imagine a place named Bub's would have decent grub, but oddly enough it was one of the better bar breakfasts I have had. I'd definitely hit it up again, and next time pair it with their $5 build your own bloody Mary bar. (Sat and Sunday breakfast only) You can also go with $7 bottles of champagne if you don't dig the red stuff. Either one is a pretty sick deal! Our server was so friendly and had fun joking with the birthday boy the whole time. It certainly makes a celebration that much better when the staff gets into it. My only real problem with them is the fact that they call themselves a dive bar. It's totally not one. To me a dive bar is a place you go to for ultra cheap drinks, hilarious disgruntled old bartenders, and a familiar set of regulars. Not really Bub's.All in all it's a good bar, just not really a dive as the name suggests.Bub's inspired haiku:va tech fans love herecheered for hokies got real drunkate so many nutsRampaging Roethlisberger, Bub's is the biggest Steelers bar in San Diego. Our hero swung by most recently for Halloween (when there was surprisingly no cover), and realized their 1/2 off all pitchers special on Friday/Saturday from 7-9PM is awesome. Granted, I'm a huge Steelers fan, and the throngs of Steelers fans who pack Bub's every Sunday during football season is a major influence in that regard. However, the lure of being a Steelers bar is just what drew me to Bub's in the first place. Having spent a significant portion of my weekends at Bub's for the last three years has exposed me to the multitude of reasons this is my favorite place to go.First, the food. The menu is loaded with home-cooked recipes that have you coming back for more. It's an agonizing decision for me choosing between the Archie chicken sandwich, and the Steaky Steakums; delicious little cuts of steak with an incredible aioli dipping sauce. The tater tots that come with almost every entree are likewise to die for.Second, the staff. Jackie might be the best waitress in PB, and all of the bartenders are extremely friendly and work incredibly fast. They are constantly engaging customers and keeping the atmosphere light. More on that below. The bouncers are also as friendly a staff as there is in PB. None of the "were the bouncers, were here to be miserable" found at so many other locales.Lastly, the people at Bub's. If you like the more night-clubbish dressy places, then Bub's is definitely not for you. If you like a relaxed environment where it feels more like you're hanging out at home with your good friends, then you are alot like me, and you need to come check out Bub's. I've made more friends just thru Bub's than all the other places I've frequented in my few years in San Diego. Sprinkle in fairly-priced (and heavily poured) drinks, with daily food drink specials, and you have an unbeatable combination.

Ever rented an apartment and trashed it so bad you knew you weren't getting your deposit back, so you just trash it even more? Welcome to Bub's! Maybe it's just because you can throw all your peanut shells/trash on the floor like at a Padre game or movie theater, classy kinda joint if you know what I mean.Located in the heart of Pacific Beach, Bub's, has the feel of being at a random friend of a friend's big house party. But the kind of party where you don't wipe your shoes before coming in, taking beer out of the fridge that's not yours and puking in some random corner where the owner finds it the next day when he/she is cleaning up.I came here with a few friends after Dhanjimon heard about the $0.25 wings on Wednesday. The wings were good, not great, but for $0.25 you really can't complain. Random drink specials were reasonably priced and poured with a heavy hand because everyone misses the toilet. 80% Lads 20% Lassies/cash plastic accepted.
