this is my samosas spot, HANDS DOWN!! After prayer at the masjed it was like a ritual to come to Nevy's dad's store and get sum samosas. I tell you I still haven't founded samosas as good (except for my nany's of course) for the price which is like DIRRRRRRRRRRT CHEAP. You want some Samosas and sum decent vegetarian food, bring yo ass down here... and when you're done you can go next door and smoke sum hookah.

This place is great... if you need supplies for Indian cooking, this is the place to go... If you need a great, cheap lunch, this is the place to go... If you need British groceries (I do!) this is the place to go...The prices here are great, not only for Lunch - which has to be one of the best values in miles - but for groceries and even the imported specialty goods.I love this place. The food served is all vegetarian, I am a card-carrying carnivore, but still love the food here. If I ever had to go vegetarian I think I would exist mostly on Indian food, so so good.Almost forgot... how could I forget... the hot tea, try the tea it is spectacular!

I decided to try this place out after reading review from here. I had been to the store before for a grocery item, but was hesitant to try the food. My first impression of the store was it was very crowded, there were even grocery items on the floor. The place is just really cluttered and small. Don't let this turn you off though, the food is VERY tasty. I looked at the menu and was completely overwhelmed by the choices, all 100% vegetarian, it's rare I can eat everything from the menu. None of the titles had food descriptions under them, so I had no idea what they were. I asked the man what he recommended and he pointed to the Thali Special that was only $2.99. It contains 2 different dals, basmati rice, 2 large pieces of naan, another side I don't know the name of, and onion slices. (see picture) My boyfriend ordered Paratha (flatbread) stuffed with potatoes, it wasn't bad. It's definitely authentic Indian food, you likely won't be able to find it local any cheaper. I will be back to try more dishes.

It is in a little market in this crowded plaza.  The food was ok, had better.

FREKIN' AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although our lips and tongues tingled for several hours after this meal, it was totally worth it. We found this restaurant while on the hunt for somewhere to eat and decided to go check it out. According to their business card they carry Indo-Pak, British and Srilanka groceries and a AV selection (which is completely true). However, the part they don't really advertise is that they have a 10-15 seat eatery in the back next to the frozen food section, with Bollywood movies on a flat screen for you to watch while you chow down on made fresh daily vittles! You order first and pay on the way out. There is free water from a cooler, which you will need, and domestic and imported drinks in a refrigerated case for sale as well. I have no idea what the name of what we had was but it was the equivalent to two main items, basmati rice, cucumber and onion slices, and nan for $3.99. The main items were made with squash + potatoes, spinach dumplings in a HOT yellow curry and a peas + potatoes dish. There was way too much food for two people so we suggest sharing a plate and ordering a handful of sweets for dessert. We took home two delicious varieties of sweets : a golden funnel-cake like dessert soaked in rose-water and honey, and a pink pastry stuffed with smooth cheese topped with a maraschino cherry. This one is in a syrup that is sweet but reminds me of a "sweet dessert pickle" I had at an Indian restaurant a few years back. Nummers! Both are delicious. Upon reflection, it is possible this site might be synonymous with the India Snack, Sweets and Grocery, also off Blaine (779 W. Blaine St.)...while the addresses, phone numbers, and names are slightly different, the overall description sounds very similar. Nonetheless, give this place a try! Cheap and DELICIOUS.

I can't believe I have just now discovered this place - it's amazing! It looks kind of like a market(selling everything from spices to DVDs), but serves food in the back of the store. There, you will find tables and a TV playing Bollywood movies or songs. Just place your order, grab a seat, and wait for the food to be prepared for you. They usually have four vegetable entrees to choose from (yes, this place is vegetarian) -  as well as rice, etc... - for their "combos". The one-entree combo will cost you about $3. The two-entree is only $4 - and that will include a small cucumber salad, chile, and flat bread. If you know your way around Indian dishes, go ahead and order straight off their menu - they have quite an impressive list of dishes that they will make a la carte. Also, before you leave, I suggest taking a look at the sweets they have at the serving counter. They really are delicious. :)Side note: the place serves free water and chai tea. But you can also order specialty drinks. Very nice.
