As far as I know, AfterHourz (AH) and nearby Nile Cafe are the only places to smoke hookah within at least a mile radius. I've been to Nile a lot and decided to check this one out tonight.Unlike Nile, AH serves food and a variety of beverages, including alcoholic ones. I didn't have any food, but I had some chai tea which was pleasant. I ordered an Exotic Melon hookah which was great. The equipment was beautiful and it smoked very well. The shisha was delicious, and since I went on Sunday they had a special so it was only $10. The tea was $1.50. That's a great deal.To enter the establishment, you walk down some stairs to enter a beautiful lobby; off to the right is the restaurant part (Mela Tandoori) and to the left is AH. In AH, the decor is neat, with a somewhat elaborately designed ceiling, mirrors all around to make the room look bigger, some other tasteful decorations and the tables and chairs that are close to the ground. I prefer regular chairs, but the seating here isn't bad. There was music playing over the speakers which was pretty good (no live DJ, but it was Sunday, so maybe that's a Fri/Sat thing). As someone commented over in the Mela Tandoori yelp entry, there's no ventilation so all the smoke just sits in the room and it gets kind of hot. It's not unbearably hot, but it could have been more comfortable. The clientele was an interesting mix, mostly groups of 4-6 (I was alone) and everyone seemed to be chillin' like they should. That is, until one of the guys at the table next to me came back to his group with a bottle under his jacket, which he handed to another dude at the table who hid it behind one of the curtain-like things hanging on the wall. I figured he had just stolen booze from the restaurant and I was contemplating how I wanted to alert the staff when another customer came over and asked "did you just steal my 40?" The thief said something and gestured to his buddy, who took out the bottle (which was already half-empty) and handed it to the inquiring guy.The rightful owner of the booze sounded off his warning of how he could kick the dudes' asses then went back to his table. Next, the group next to me proceeded to get increasingly rowdy, while one of their friends (who had just learned of what happened) came back and started scolding the thief. Then 3 of the dudes got up and went over to talk shit to the guy whose 40 it was, with the 2 of the dudes from the group and several AH staff trying to keep everyone under control. They were successful, there was no fight and everyone went back to their respective tables. The rest of the time that I was there the group was still being really rowdy, banging on the tables and whatnot. There are many questions to be asked, such as "who drinks a 40 at a hookah bar?" and "who steals a half-consumed 40?" Seriously, I'm not sure if it's more ridiculous that these guys were angry that they were busted for stealing or the fact that it was all over a half-finished bottle of malt liquor. Also, when I smoke hookah I get way relaxed. These guys were already smoking when I got in yet still were ready to fight.Anyways, as far as the review is concerned, the management was doing a good job of keeping everything cool (there are some big dudes that work there so it's not like these fools could have done anything) but it's worth noting the potential for some of the clientele can be rowdy and obnoxious (oh, and that they might steal your shit). I suppose that's an unforeseen consequence of putting a z at the end of a business name: attracting assholes who look for fights. The two most rowdy were these white kids with backwards baseball hats on top of curly hair. You know, Walnut Creek kids with something to prove.Still, I give 4 stars because I assume the above situation was a fluke. All the other tables seemed like some cool mofos just having a good time, relaxing. I'll be back soon enough to try other shisha flavors as well as the food. Hopefully there won't be another near-fight.

RIP ):I liked this place.. hookah , beer , snacks , good loud music , nice decor , late hours . Came here once with my friends for hookah . It was alright , I had an okay time . They had some interesting hookah flavors but they all kinda taste the same to me LOL . Just seem like some is sweeter than others . The cheese naan was pretty good . Their chairs tables are really low but the chairs were not that bad .. they' were actually kind of comfy . It was actually a nice change to have chairs and tables that are not high . I really liked the whole atmosphere decor of the place .. it's very nice but it gets really really hot like a sauna ! lol Their bathrooms are really nice pretty too . I really liked the mirror in there the comfy chairs . They had snacks beer in addition to hookah .
