Randomly stopped to get a quick bite with a friend.Almost everything on the menu was under $15 and we tried the yogurt with honey and pecans and a chicken kebob sandwich with fries.We sat outdoors and food was pretty decent. The fries were a bit on the oily side but the sandwich was what I expected for $5.I'd definitely come back for a quick bite.

Qualifier: I wouldn't say this place deserves a flat two stars. In fact, I can see myself going back, but it wouldn't hurt if they pulled together the menu a bit and improved the quality of some of the offerings.Cherry Cafe replaced Cellar 34 on Broadway in Astoria a month or so ago. It's basically another diner with a sort of Mediterranean slant. There's falafels and shwarmas as well as burgers, smoothies, and floats. Not sure if they were just being nice, but before the meal we got like two huge plates of chips and salsa as well as pita and faux tabbouleh (just tomatoes, onions, parsley and cucumber really). We were almost full just on the little munchies. Food comes in tremendous portions especially given the price. Nothing on the menu is really over $15 and most of the sandwich plates and what not are under $10 and you're in all likeliness going to take home a doggie bag. Taste wise, the restaurant's offerings are just okay. Nothing awe inspiring, but nothing that's going to make you cringe. Though, to some degree a meal there remains unsatisfying. This place also offers hookah later at night for those so inclined. Kind of an interesting almost confusing mix of offerings, but not a terrible addition to the neighborhood.
