Ok...  well, it started out as a girl's night out... but as usual...  a Saturday night must include the boys...  at least some of them...  So four of us had dinner here, and joined the others for drinks upstairs. Here's what we had for dinner:Me:  Scallops (not overcooked...yay!) with cornmeal crust, balsamic reduction, capers and delightfully salty/crunchy pistachios...  and the Rusa salad:  potatoes, peas, and beets mixed with housemade aioli.  When I hear 'aioli', I think garlicky....  this could have had more flavor....it wasn't too exciting, but totally edible....  served on bed of arugula (I LOVE ARUGULA. yum!) plus two glasses of wine and five (ouch! but that's counting after dinner) vodka crans....  hmmm  who's a lush???Sarah:  Gnocchi in a sagey cream sauce (yummy and comforting)..  for the record:  she's a lush too! ;-)Amy:  Errrmm...  pasta, salmon, tomatoes, cream, and VODKA (how could that be bad really?)Gerry:  MMMMM NNN!!!  Chicken on some sort of risotto bed involving crimini mushrooms.....  but my favorite part:  dijon cream sauce....  DROOOOOLING.   Umm...  cream and dijon..  with a splash of wine...  that's really all you need...  aside from a crusty loaf of bread to soak it all up with. Drat...  feeling snacky again. After dinner, it was upstairs to join the friends who were only up for bevvies....  all in all, a delightful evening with dear friends...  so nothing to complain about really.  The food was good, but not OUTSTANDING (aside from dijon/cream sauce...  YUMM!).  I'm not a super trendy kind of girl (not even remotely trendy really), so not really my scene...  but the food was decent, and the drinks were nice...  and the company was great (as always).

The Capitol Club is in the midst of a renaissance. Not sure how long the new ownership has been around, but they've completely revamped the menu. In place of the pseudo-Mediterranean cuisine, the brand spankin' new chef has introduced tapas - of a frias and calientes variety.Have been for happy hour (between 5-7pm, M-F) three times over the past two weeks. Well drink specials apply to liquor, wine, beer AND they even highlight a specialty cocktail off their menu for a happier price. A nice assortment of tapas are available at happier prices too. For your consideration, the sampling I've tried:MUY CALIENTES+ Pochas con chorizo - GOOD LORD this was yummy! Large white beans simmered with chorizo, doused in oils from the sausage. Order two cause you won't want to share!+ Calamares a la Romana - Another winner. Calamari bits were well-seasoned, breaded and fried. The garlic aioli was memorably good, but memorably oozing from my pores the next morning.+ Patatas Bravas - More garlic aioli temptation, but mixed with their "brava sauce". Soooo good that it might make you forget about french fries (well, downside is you have to eat this dish with utensils).ASI-ASI (OR NOT TOO CALIENTES-NOT TOO FRIAS)+ Pinchos Morunos - Speaking of french fries, the bed of 'em served with these charbroiled marinated pork skewers are, sadly, better than the pig. The porkly bits are redeemable, though, if you give 'em a good roll in the leftover brava sauce.+ Tortilla de Patata - About as flavorfully exciting as it is to explain: potato omelette. Meh! (Props to Mandy M. for sound effect.)MUY FRIAS+ Empanadillas de Pollo Asado - These came recommended by our server, but I found the crusts too crisp and the stuffing too flat. I'd give this another go though, just to see if this may have been a fluke. The shell of CC has remained in tact - same Blue Room that's reservable, same pillows lining the banquettes and same great deck (where you can smoke if no one outside is eating, but don't tell my boyfriend I know this...). They've retained one bartender from the most recent regime, but the new staff are welcoming, friendly and happy to dole out an opinion.During the sunny months, plan on being there early if you want outdoor seating, otherwise be left out in the frias sitting your ass on one of their pillows.

I have been to the Capitol Club a few times and have never had a bad experience there. I use it only as a drinking spot. For that I think it is great. the upstairs has a really good feel. The music is eclectic. Lots of electronic middle eastern music which I never thought I would like but it's nice amidst the background noise. This is also one of the only bars where I only order Chimay. That sounds like a comment from some sort of beer snob BUT I assure you that I am not one. I just am happy to see it on the menu and I take advantage of it.

Capitol Club put on one hell of a party for New Year's - we're talking no cover, excellent DJ, free party favors, and free champagne at midnight (and yes, there was a glass for every single person).   Waitresses were excellent and kept the yummy drinks coming until well after 1.  It was my first time here, but talk about making a good impression!

I know, it doesn't deserve it, but this place could be a 5 (or even the elusive and nearly impossible 6-star) destination, but they need to work some things out...THE GOOD:-atmosphere-decor (beautiful with comfortable couches and more pillows and a teenage girl's trundle bed)-specialty martini and drink menu (I had 5 and each was as good as the last)THE BAD:one bartender upstairs until at least 10 or 11 with a million specialty drinks on little cards for everyone to admire and order.  I've been a bartender for years and I would have quit in a heartbeat.  Even the Oscars weren't this annoying.  It simply takes too long to make each of these drinks.  You need at least two bartenders and a bar-back.Beautiful place, very southern India meets norcal zen-Buddhist, but the depressing emo music?  Live DJ was a plus but come one, I love emo and I almost felt like jumping from the well-decorated and pleasantly cool second floor balcony.THE FUGLY:No issues here, very attractive clientele, clean-cut bartenders.  Even the downstairs bathroom was immaculate.  Just the right lighting and colors to make everyone look amazing.

Capitol Club has to have one of the coolest atmospheres of any place in Seattle.  I couldn't really do it justice, just click on the website link above and see for yourself.  More restaurants would do well to have more pillows. How could you not want to spend all night here?  The food is top notch.  You can have a quiet evening with just a few people or take over the bar upstairs with all your friends.I did have to take back a star though, for poor service.  Trying to enjoy a friends birthday party here, and the great food, I ordered the Gnocchi and waited 45 minutes for the waiter to come back before I could ask again, only to find out he forgot to place the order the first time... my empty stomach didn't lend itself to enjoying the evening.  The food is damn good here, too bad the wait staff is so slow getting it to you.

I am giving a rare five stars to a bar. What is odd is that I don't actually LOVE this bar, but I am giving five stars for what it represents to me.Consistency. Variety. Creative drinks. Nice atmosphere. Adequate seating. All of those things are what I look for in a bar. Now let's go ahead and break these criteria down:1. Consistently make great drinks. My dirty martini is always good, no matter whether I use a well vodka or top shelf.2. Variety in clientele make fantastic people watching. Not just a hipster bar, not just a gay bar, not just a dive bar - it's a people bar.3. Whenever I feel like straying from my dirty, I like to have a menu of appetizing options. This place is awesome for that.4. The dim lights, lush seats, and downstairs dining make a nice, relaxing atmosphere.5. Adequate seating means I never have to spill my beloved martini on myself or some innocent by-standard who has the unfortunate luck to bump in to me.All of these criteria are missing from any other bar in Capitol Hill. Seriously. Think about it.

I have an ongoing relationship with the Capitol Club.Like most relationships, I have felt elation and disappointment, been swooning only to be plunged to the depths of the earth, wondering how my sweetheart could have changed so much in such short a time.My darling has pissed me off only to meet me with open arms to comfort me, to spoil me to make me wonder why I deserve such a great addition to my life. This is my second reveiw of this place, I was mad at her (yes her) so I threw her out! Into the mud scum queen! But she quietly brushed herself off and waited for me.We had my company party here two nights ago. The service was excellent. We were loud, demanding and drunk, drunk, drunk! The food was amazing! Drunk, drunk, drunk and to top it off I was breaking wine glasses! Drunk ,drunk, drunk!!!!!! This waiter blew our racious behavior off like no big deal, and even though I woke up with only pieces of shattered memories of the evening and a bathroom full of my own vomit (which I do not remember doing) It was totally worth it.Baby we are so on again.

Cool place.  It is divided into several small areas.  There is an outside for dining with your squeeze of the moment, and upstairs lounge area where you can spill beer on Sylvia's handbag, and a large woodish bar.  Downstairs there is a couple dining nooks that look like they can be reserved for parties or more intimate experiences. The food looked tasty, but I was already packed full of bad chinese chow from Jade Monkey.  The house cocktails are kind of strange, but strange can be good!I'd like to return if I can ever figure out Cap Hill parking.

I moved my DP's 40th birthday party here, when the place we had booked, closed their business at the last minute (R.I.P. El Tajin!).  Although, the party was only a day away, Lu (sp?) the manager, was incredibly helpful when I called to set it up and she reserved their whole dining room for our group.  I was so relieved to have a place lined up, I picked it sight unseen (and fingers crossed!).Imagine my happiness when I showed up and saw a beautifully decorated space, that was large enough for our 30+ people and yet still with a cozy feel.  Our server Kaili was spectacular (and she worked seriously hard for us!).  We were a little disappointed that the sound system was on the fritz, so we couldn't pipe in any dancing music, but a group of us just invaded the upstairs to satisfy our dance craving.I was really pleased with the set-up and the service, and my sweetie had a fantastic 40th birthday after all.  (Whew!)

I recently "discovered" this place, though I have been walking past it for the past year and a half. I always kind of peered inside at the downstairs seating area and decided that it looked to "posh" for me. My excuse whenever someone suggested going here was "I'm not dressed nice enough/I'm not gay."Little did I know, the upstairs lounge area of this place was actually quite rad. My friend talked me into going here several weeks ago and I've been back twice since. Their well drinks are only $3 dollars and their draft beer is only $2.50 at happy hour (good draft beer, not PBR). Their happy hour food ranges from $5-8 too!Even though "Kobe Beef Burgers" are culinary blasphemy, the "kobe" burgers ARE quite good and even come with a spicy ketchup. Their bruschetta was the best I've ever had and gorgonzola pesto pizza was superb! I usually get the burger, bruschetta, pizza and tacos. The perfect portion for 2 people! Get that and 2 super strong well drinks and you'll be feeling good!I also have to give them props for hiring a DJ. It adds just a little bit funkiness to the place that could otherwise be kind of boring. Although you do have your share of "yuppies" (people that work downtown and wear suits), there is actually a pretty diverse crowd. I've yet to sit on the patio outside, because it's always been packed when I go there. So I would suggest getting there early. I get there after 6 usually and JUST beat the "shit-we-gotta-hurry-and-order-food-because-happy- hour-is-almost-over" crowd. But, I love sitting on their bench upstairs! I can relax and lay my head down on their comfy pillows after shoving my face full of food. Just don't do it with someone that's really tall. They'll hate you and complain the whole time. :)

5 stars for the great times I've had at the bar or the upstairs patio. Drinks are delicious, servers are nice, space is comfortable.3 stars for the Blue Room in the Capitol Club: site of my 22nd birthday party. Everyone looked like a smurf in the photos, which is funny to look back on. It's small and cozy, and there isn't really anywhere good to sit, except the benches along the wall and the few stools. Kind of always felt like someone was in the way. One of my guests has to leave because all the blue made him feel ill. My birthday itself was fab, but I have since found better rooms.

Stars AlignedAccording to Steve Pool, (and Steve Pool's fro) Seattle averages out to only 58 sunny days in a year.  On the day that I went to capitol club, it was 1/58 of those fabulous, gorgeous, breath taking, picturesque day in seattle. I have been to about... 70 different bars in my life and of those 70 bars, only 3 ever served hoegarden.  Hoegarden is this amazing white german beer that is God's goodness.  Not only is the name funny as it conjures up a forget-me-not image, it is tasty.  You know, the beer that just goes down because it's so smooth and so good? (no pun intended)  Yeah, it's like that.  Out of about 10,000 different restaurants that I have frequented in my life, I have never tried Saffron xxx.  (I don't remember the name).  Moreso, it tasted delicious.  so 1/10,000One of the biggest rarity was that I looked pretty cute that day, so 1/100,000  So if I did my caculations correctly, that means that my experience at capitol club was truly 1 in a million.  :)  hence, the four stars.  BUT i do think that it's awesome that they serve hoegarden and it was only 2.50 a glass during happy hour!!  Also, their saffron xxx was only 5 bux!  SHWING!  In addition to their delicious food and beer, they had a balcony that made you feel as if you're in Rome.  It's a great place to people watch!

I love this bar, one of the best in Capitol Hill. The staff is cordial and they make killer drinks every time. There is a comedy show on the first sunday of every month that kicks ass, and they always seem to have something going on, be it DJs or flamenco dancers. The best thing about this place is the ambiance, candle lit and very comfortable, with a great patio. 5 stars.

Ok, full discloser: I loathed the old capitol club.  The food was random, the drinks iffy, and the service I experienced was the worst.Flash to today and the new owners since the beginning of 08.  They are very knowledgeable and involved in the day to day. The new Spanish chef really understands and has a passion for tapas.  The summer menu has already changed to reflect that.  The happy hour is great, but so is everything else so no worries if you miss it and spend a few extra bucks - well worth it.  Don't even talk to me about calamari until you've had theirs.  The cheese is perfect as well.  And it doesn't hurt that the bar tenders poor with a heavy hand.A top notch hangout.  Cool, laid back, something for everyone.  I promise.

We came here for happy hour the other night before seeing a show at the Paramount.  Drink specials were great - $4 sangria, $3.75 wells, $4 wine, $3 draft beer.  Service was swift and pleasant. The food was quite tasty.  The two of us split the Calamares a la Romana, Pochas con chorizo, Patatas Bravas, and Ensalada Espanola (well, I ate that since the hubby doesn't do lettuce).  The calamari was crisp and tender with savory aoili dipping sauce.  The giant beans and chorizo surprised me - I wouldn't have normally ordered that, but I'm glad we did.  The potatoes with brava sauce were piping hot and covered in sauce.  I only wish we had a couple pieces of bread to wipe the plates clean.  The salad was huge - more than I could eat.  We were pleasantly full.  Including two drinks each, we were just under $30.  Not bad for a quick meal pre-show!  We will definitely come back.

I've come here three times. The first time we came it was very very late, and perhaps deservingly, we received service that was so horrible. However,  we  were insulted to the point we immediately walked out.The second time, we made sure to be there quite a bit earlier, but they were closed. We went to Machiavelli instead. The third time, we had the most amazing time. The ambiance is intimate. I love the squashy couches and throw pillows and low lighting. The bottle of wine we ordered was excellent and not expensive at all. The server was attentive and very helpful. The food was amazing- the empanadillas were rich and savory, the gambas al ajillo (sauteed garlic prawns) had the most delicious sauce, and the artichoke/roasted garlic/serrano ham spread was the best thing i put in my mouth the whole night. However, the flan we had for dessert was rubbery and tasted completely burnt.I'd give it four stars if I didn't have inconsistent experiences with the place.

The DJ was spinning top 40... from eight years ago.  Shaggy, seriously?  It was so loud I could barely hear myself thinking let alone hear my friend talking. The server didn't know what a Sazerac was, and, based on what I got, neither did the bartender.  It was terrible! The outdoor seating seems like it could be nice if it weren't raining.  It was (of course), so we didn't sample.Big fat meh.

My HONEST inclination is for three stars, based on my own experience, but that was partly circumstantial and specific to the night, and partly due to my being OLD and finding the music way, way too earth-shatteringly loud for my wrinkled eardrums. So I'm giving four stars because not everybody is a fuddy-duddy who hates fun. It's spendy. But it's a nightclub on Capitol Hill, so no surprise there. My drinks (I had three) were nine bucks each. That said....-the drinks were fabulous. I had something called a Carone (or something; I forget exactly) that involved champagne and a sugar rim. They were boozy as hell and very yummy. *hiccup*-the booths (DOWNstairs, thankyouverymuch) are so comfy, with pretty ornate cushions and plenty of space for everyone, and nice lighting and nice art on the walls.-nice and clean bathrooms.-friendly staff. Our waitress was friendly and prompt despite it being a busy night, and I made friends with a door guy named Joshua who was incredibly and refreshingly friendly (I'm Canadian. I find a lot of the Capitol Hill area sort of....okay, very...trendy and snooty) and very cool.-we didn't eat, but the menu sure SOUNDED delicious.I'd go back - downstairs only, and with earplugs- just for more friendly service and yummy drinks...once I get paid.

(Again 4 - 4.5 stars, but ONLY b/c we had to scream @ each other to be heard over the bumpin' beats being spun by resident dj's)Two words:  FLAMING CHEESEYup, you read that right.  I wrote "flaming cheese" - which is precisely what I ordered tonite, along w/ a Red Devil, which was some crazy concoction of habanero vodka peppers spicy yummy goodness.I may not be able to shit for the next couple of days, but whatever - this combination was GOOD.  I've also had their calamari, which is also v. v. good.  Our server was courteous, pleasant - v. attentive, funny, helpful, w/ a little bit of sass. And the other great thing about this place?  It's 7 mins walking from where I live.  HELL YES!It's good to live on cap hill.

The top floor is great for the following purposes: 1. gatherings of less than 20 people...I wish they would invest in extra chairs. So glad I called ahead to reserve space!2. Sunday night comedy shows and happy hour3. dance parties to 80s-90s music. Honestly, maybe I'm just not hip enough for Capitol Hill, but how can this be wrong?

I've only come here for drinks but both times the service was really really slow. This Saturday we stopped off for a drink around 9pm. As I headed up the stairs I noticed in my sobriety that the spots lit by the entryway light looked like they haven't gotten a cleaning in years. No wonder the place is so dark inside. We took a seat facing the stairwell and looked through the menu. We decided what we wanted to order but no one came to take our order for what seemed like an eternity. Then we noticed the waitress just standing there blankly staring into space for a disturbingly long time. I had to wave wildly to snap her out of whatever adventure she was having in her head. They were out of Hoegaarden which was advertised by a banner in the window. They were out of a bunch of other beers on tap too, so I settled for a Bodington's and then quickly asked for the check before the space cadet waitress went back inside her head.

One of my favorite places in Seattle to relax at. Comfy seating. The food has always been good to me. The drinks are always stiff and there are some pretty good specials going on. The bartenders there are nice and attentive. The DJs there are some of the most interesting in the city with some cool concepts going on. Whenever I'm in town I try and stop by for a drink. Love this place.

A huge group of people and I went here last night for a little Inauguration Inebriation Celebration. They had some drink specials in the American spirit--Red Beers (tomato juice and beer, if you aren't familiar) for $2, Bloody Mary's or Maria's for $4, and Mimosas for $4. I had a mimosa and a red beer, because I like to be a little classy and a little sassy. Service was a tad slow, but I'll give the waitress mad credit for dealing with our party (which was almost as big as the crowd at the actual Capitol Building in DC) in an already busy bar. It wasn't bad to wait, either, because we scored a great booth/table with cushy pillows. Their menu looked fantastic--all little tapas plates for around $5-8. Sadly I'd eaten an Early Bird Special at home so wasn't hungry enough to partake. The mini meatballs looked great (how could they not?!), and so did this crazy omelet-potato thing. I didn't get the chance to go upstairs, but they had a bar up there with--get this--a flamenco dancer! It made quite a ruckus on the ceiling, but in the best kind of way. Can't wait to go back. Next time I'll bring fewer buddies and a bigger appetite!

What!? Happy hour until 8 pm? Is that even legal? At Capitol Club you can enjoy tasty morsels and drinky drinks for a steal in a swanky environment. The decor is exotic and comfortable. Our group was too large to get a seat on the balcony, but it looks pleasant. The indoor seating  upstairs was great though, with large windows and a choice of pillow festooned benches or tables chairs. Our waiter (who I think was also the bartender) was awesome, keeping the drinks flowing and checking in with us often.

Dear Capitol Club,You are a very very cool place. Great laid back vibe, helpful staff, and what I have eaten in the past has been tasty. But for the love of GOD, please do something about the heat upstairs! It was like an oven up there. (Granted, there were a shitload of people tasting wine)xoxo,Carly L.PS. I love the front deck and will be back in the summer.

$3 Hoegarden drafts at happy hour.  and the happy hr runs longer hours than other places and has very reasonably priced food items.  we got the artichoke dip with pita triangles.  could have used a few more pita triangles, but other than that really good.  and the calamari was more limp than i usually like, but it was still good enough.  for the money and the flexible hrs and the cool venue, i'm definitely a fan.

Want a unique little spot to go with a small group of friends that is more than your average pub food and better than most happy hour? Capitol Club does not disappoint. it gets a little loud (or I might just be getting old) when the DJ sets up in the loft area lounge but the soft lit cozy upstairs is a must visit. Dinner here is really good and there is a private event room but for a group of more that 6 you might feel a little cramped if it starts to fill up. I suggest the bar as your prefunk stop or your end of night whined down. The unique cocktail list has something for almost everyone and you will totally look like you know a Seattle hot spot if you bring a date.

I really want to give the Capitol Club more stars--and I hate to say this, because it makes me sound like an old fart--but it is just too loud there when they have a dj.I came to a going away party on Saturday and it was very difficult to hold a conversation unless you were sitting right beside someone and practically yelling.  The music was great, and at one point my karaaazy friend Kathleen got up and boogied.  However, it was simply too loud to easily engage in a conversation and really detracted from the experience for me.What I do love about the Capitol Club is the sexy ambiance, the delicious food and excellent drinks.  This time I enjoyed a couple of their well margaritas, which were made with fresh lime and very tasty.  I didn't nosh, but there was a lot of tasty looking food--which I didn't get a good look at because it was devoured so quickly!I like the Capitol Club and will return, but unless you're a young whipper-snapper who still has their hearing (and doesn't care about losing it), I would recommend avoiding dj night,

First of all: I am so happy that Elemental Importers had their launch party here a while back, because otherwise I don't think I ever would have known this was a public place. I used to think it was some private club that was patronized by people in suits or dresses... and, according to the bartender, many people think the same thing when they just walk by. He used to be one of them.In any case: They have a nice little menu of happy hour food (and drink) specials. I chose to go with the calamari (with aioli as the dip) and was happily satiated. The serving seems a bit smaller than I've had at other places, but it was HH and the pieces were huge (and hot). I had to cut them in half so I could easily eat them in one bite. I also somehow decided I should get a $3 well drink and that proved to be a great price for what you got. When I got up and walked a few steps I realized that I was feeling like I'd had at least two drinks. Oops. The bartender was nice, talkative, and frequently checked in with me. It was about 6:40pm on a Saturday and I think there was only one other person in there, though, so I'm not sure what it would be like when there are more people. In general, though, I'm very happy with what I've experienced at the Capitol Club and I can definitely picture finding myself there again.Note: HH goes until 8pm! I don't think I would ever have found myself here... but, a special event sampling Argentinian wine…

While barhopping with some fellow yelpers, I found myself here. The upstairs is nice and quaint. The music on a Saturday night was a bit loud considering there were only like 10 people in the bar area, but once we moved out onto the patio, it was significantly quieter. The bartender was friendly. The waiter/busser was also friendly. I only drank a few beers, but it was a good time. Oh and bonus for having a cute bathroom!

Grace..what the EFF where you thinking??? This place should have been the FIRST review you EVER DID.I come here A LOT. I absolutely love the atmosphere (Plush couches w/pillows up AND downstairs) and the food is always perfect. Anytime I have friends come to seattle, or I want to impress a client, I take them here. The service is impecable and I can always count on plenty of eye candy for me to stare at and make out with in my head. Please go here, you really wont regret it.

Not sure what's better: the surprise of yet another copper Calphalon chef's pan, or a new Capitol Hill spot complete with an excellent happy hour (from 5-8, no less), tasty Mediterranean small plates, and sangria. And an outdoor balcony.Thank God I have these sorts of distinctions to make! Since you can't experience my Calphalon, let me sketch out what you can experience at Capitol Club. First, the outdoor balcony....Actually spacious, with plants, tiny lights, and a breeze with a view. Second, the menu....Hot and cold small plates that really aren't that small, with options like grilled eggplant, goat cheese and tomato toasties, or mushrooms sauteed in sherry, or patatas bravas with a fiercely addictive aioli. And sangria, slightly sweet yet full of fruit, brandy, and wine complexity. Third, the service....Our server was friendly, laid back, and definitely not too cool for her tables! Fourth, even the inside is sexy....Lots of benches and tables with velvety pillows scattered around in the low light, and a small but inviting curvy bar upstairs, just in from the patio.Put together the best part of the energy from Capitol Hill, and the intimate warmth and service of a member's club, and you have not only the name but this lovely spot. Pass on the surprise....

This place has really great food.  In particular I loved their fries (the good crispy shoe-string kind, seasoned with cayenne pepper!) and their mussels which were simmered in a really tasty tomato sauce. Our server was really friendly as well.  The only thing that keeps me from giving this place a solid five stars is that the bartender seems to be quite a surly woman.  We stoked her ire when we tried to move some tables (as we were a larger group).  For the rest of the evening she shot me dirty looks, which doesn't make for a pleasant atmosphere.

I arrived before my friend and sat down at a corner table on a plushy bench that was strewn with pillows.  Sat is the wrong word - I was lounging.  I should have been wearing a silk robe (or nothing at all) and there definitely should have been a hookah within reach.  We ordered the toastie, which was grilled eggplant spread and goat cheese on hunks of toasted bread.  It was delicious but a little difficult to eat - my friend tried just taking a bite out of a piece and managed to spill some of the topping on the floor.  I tried to cut my piece and part of it went flying and hit the wall.  Our napkins were a mess by the time we finished!  We also split the squash ravioli which was fantastic.  The food was very rich so the small-ish portion sizes were good.  They have a nice wine list but only a few beers on tap.  Happy hour prices for beer were good - $3 for a draft - and the price went until 8:00 so we wound up having a few rounds and just hanging out on the cushions...wishing for hookah....

I'm giving the Capitol Club 5 stars for 3 reasons:1 -  Their French fries are awesome!  My friend and I went after an event and I was still hungry.  The French fries were exactly what I didn't know what I wanted at that moment.2 - I really liked the bar bar.  It was cozy and not too crowded.  I loved the banquette seating that was comfy with pillows.  There were balloons blown up (I don't know why) and we were having a good casual time batting them back with other tables. (Ok there were probably 2 couples in a corner who were not happy with all of us for this, but whatever!)3 - This is the real reason they ranked so highly with me... when my friend ordered a 2nd drink (after drinking a lot at the event) and I shook my head at the waiter, he listened and didn't bring another one.  I appreciate that the waiter listened to me even though it may have cost him in tip (I don't actually know, my friend paid the bill and quite probably forgot he had ordered a 2nd drink.).  I'm definitely going back.
