Mediterranean Mix Reviews

I like this place so much, I falafel. Seriously, it is where I go for falafels in Seattle. They are fresh, filling, full of tastiness and only $4.50.The vegetable plate looks amazing as well. They also serve gyros and pizza, but I can't get past the awesome falafels.
by Gregor G.
Cheap eats don't get much better than this. I ordered the best falafel I've had in years -- we're talking a really tasty, humongous sammy for like $4.50. And the menu is loaded with other great Middle Eastern fare at similar prices. No frills, but seriously, who needs 'em when you're on the go?

A fast food kinda place but good for a quick lunch. I had a Falafel platter that came with 4 falafels, hummus, babaghanouj, salad and tzaziki (if I remember right). Fast service, great taste, large quantity and very reasonable price. Check it out if you're short on time, and need your Mediterranean fix.

*Focusing my mind on the taste of any of their menu items.*djafjdsafijrejiojjfioewfjioenviefioenvionewivoenvi oefjhggdfdvcnlkjlkjtreytvbhhrzxcwnvillllllkjjjgggf ytftrsreaxtoewnivoanwioanvioewnwwiovSorry, my keyboard got all messed up due to the drool. This is the best Gyro/Falafel place in Seattle, hands down. Their ingredients are fresh, their veggies are top notch. Their hummus sandwich is much better than it has any right to be. The falafel sandwich has crunchy garbanzo beans in it!! Their gyros are mouth watering to the max. Filled with onions, tzaziki (or however you spell that sauce), freshly sliced tomatoes, and the most tender gyro meat I have ever eaten. I have to stop typing now or I will have to leave to go there right now!A word of warning: Do not take someone on a date here. Unless you're cool with getting various sauces and spices all over your face, hands and arms in front of each other. On second thought, scratch that. I see various ways that could work out pretty well as a date, if you're both into Mediterranean food.

Cheap, quick and it tastes good. The space isn't anything to write home about but the food sure is. If falafel, babbaganoush or gyros aren't your thing they also have burgers, hot dogs, pizza, philly cheesesteaks and fish and chips. Med Mix is good for lunch, dinner or a late night snack when you're out at the bars.

Perhaps it was because I first hit this place up one hour after seeing Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, but I swear the food here is MAGIC. This is the real deal. Their falafel is bangin' and so are the fries. It's not health food and it doesn't pretend to be. Prepare for eco guilt in advance: there will be Styrofoam. Servings are plentiful so eat with a friend! Ya'll will stumble out of Med Mix totally high on deliciousness. Oh, and if you speak Spanish, give a shout out to the fry cooks if they're not totally slammed. Most of them speak la lengua and are friendly dudes. Especially if you're a pretty gal.

I was site-seeing around Pioneer Square yesterday around lunch time and pulled out my iPhone at first signs of hunger. Went here after seeing all these great reviews on Yelp and I wholeheartedly agree that you get a lot of tasty bang for your buck. I cannot say that the falafel was the best I've ever had as I found it a bit too hard on the outside, but the hummus and the warm, perfectly toasted pita were amazing! I found the baba ghanoush too salty for me but I still ate most of my portion. Speaking of portions, my god, I got the Vegetarian Combo and there was enough food for two! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone in need of good food when in Pioneer Square. I don't think I'd go out of my way to go here from across town. Oh and it wasn't the cleanest of food joints but not repulsive.

Med Mix, my one stop shop after any event in Safeco or Qwest. I love this place, their gyro's are top notch, and their fries, ohhhh god, their fries. They are to die for. My standard choice is either a chicken or lamb gyro, with fries. They actually have quite a large menu, and everything looks appetizing. When I go back, I'm going to try something else but knowing how good their gyro is might make that a little hard. On their walls, they have old sports photographs and posters, along with an award for winning best gyro in Seattle. For 6 bucks, you get a massive flavor filled gyro, and incredible french fries. It might be the best 6 bucks spent for food, and I would suggest doing the same if I were you.

Best priced most filling lunch in all of Seattle.Better known for their Gyro's, you have probably missed out on their cheese burgers. These mammoth 1/2 pound burgers are the real deal. Although they tend to drown the thing in mustard and ketchup, they pile on the lettuce, onions and diced tomato's as well. Served with fries the whole thing comes $5 at lunch! Gyro's are also a friend when it comes to filling that mid-day void in your stomach. I know they used to have pizza by the slice, but haven't seen them in a while.Good stuff, want to try their other stuff, but usually stick to the burger or Gyro. Cheap, good and filling. All served by Mexicans. What's not to like?

This is a great place for cheap eats. I ordered the chicken and rice, my fiance got the falafel plate and my friend got the vegetarian platter. Grand total was $19 and resulted in 3 stuff bellies PLUS leftovers! The plates look small (oval styrofoam plates) but I swear the amount of food it holds is ridiculous! The chicken and rice was very flavorful and prob my favorite dish (lots of pieces of chicken with a side of salad and pita bread). My friend's hummus and baba ghanoush were good, but the falafel itself was a bit too crispy/hard for me.In the end, lots of tasty food for little money is always a good thing. I plan to head back there again!TIP: If you have the 2008 Entertainment Book, there's a coupon for this place!

This place looked good from the outside, but I was pretty disappointed with the food. The gyro meat came in big, dry chunks - not very tasty. Their spanakopita filled with almost all onion with only a little bit of spinach - I couldn't eat more than two bites.

For years I lived off nothing but late night Gyros and/or Chicken and Rice from this temple of perfection, Mediterranean Mix is everything I could ever want in a quick, cheap, delicious and exciting food joint. The food is perfection at it's finest, fresh produce, delicious feta cheese, perfectly seasoned and marinated meats and a variety of sauces to spice it up if you like. The prices are awesome, especially considering the convenient location, the late hours and the great staff. The staff is fun, professional and tough. They have to be to put up with the drunk asses and bums down in the Square. Besides the Gyro I also have to say the Chicken and Rice is legendary and will absolutely leave you busting a gut, it is perfectly seasoned, full of big chicken chunks and absolutely marvelous. Living now in Austin I have to admit that one thing I really miss is the cream cheese dogs out front, I absolutely loved those things but didn't realize it until I moved to Austin and had to do without. Don't take them for granted, eat one every day, you never know when you might not be able to get one again!!Med-Mix Gyro is probably one of my favorites in the world and I have had Gyros all over the planet. Seriously it's that damn good.

This place is pretty darn good.I ate here twice during my 4 days in Seattle. I had the falafel/veggie plate both times; once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times, the falafel was kind of over-cooked, but it was still pretty good. The plate came with all the good stuff - grapes leaves, baba, hummus, salad with feta, beans, tahini and pita bread. The falafel here comes with a bean mix - chick peas and fava beans - which I've never seen before during any of my countless falafel endeavors. Whatever. Was the falafel the best I've ever had? Not even close, but it still hit the spot. So, I recommend it. I especially recommend it to any of the drunk frat boys, homeless peeps, and tourists that seem to be abundant in Pioneer Square on Friday and Saturday nights. Why - because it's open super late and the food is plentiful and more importantly, cheap. Also, gyros, shawarma, and about 10 other fast, cheap eats on the menu.

Holy crap I have been looking for a $5 meal in WA and thought it didn't exist - but then I walked by "Mediterranean Mix' one day and saw there big bright menu and Bam - I found the $5 Gyro!!! Not only is the price perfect but they are the best Gyros I have had in WA. If you want fry's its only a buck more and they are some guuud fry's, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I ate there all week after the first try and got the chicken gyro and then after that got the cheesesteak and wow - I never thought I could find a cheesesteak in WA that was as good as the ones on the east coast - very happily surprised.I wish they had a location in Lynnwood so I don't have to drive so far after the work week is over, but hey - it's def worth the drive!!

Had the lamb gyro with fries and a drink. I must say that this was a very delicious gyro. The lamb was very tasteful, and the tsatsiki added a good touch. It was fairly big which was great because I was pretty hungry. The fries were good, nothing special but you can't really go wrong with fries :)With all this and a drink my meal came out to $6.50. WOW!!! In downtown Seattle getting all of this I expected to pay closer to 10 dollars. I'll definitely be coming back, I hear the falafel plate is another safe choice.

I am picky and I mean picky about my falafel. I keep it simple, yo but Mediterranean Mix likes to mock me. There is so much riffraff wrapped in my pita bread I don't know whether to eat it or fight it off. Definitely not where I would willingly go to eat some falafel.
by Robert R.
This place is dump, but in a good way. Where the focus is more on serving up some good, greasy eats and not so much on keeping the tabletops unsticky. The falafel here is some of the best I've had. And if you get the platter, be prepared to add a notch or two to your belt OK, maybe it's not that gut-busting, but it's enough to make you feel bad about yourself if you manage to finish the whole thing in one sitting. What's life if you can't experience simultaneous highs and lows?Unfortunately, the chicken schwarma doesn't live up to greatness of its vegetarian cousin. It pretty much tasted like there was nothing on there but tzatziki and onions. If I didn't see it with my own eyes, and for the occasionally taste of cumin, I would have thought there wasn't even chicken on there.Presumably, it's a similar story w/ the shish taouk because the only difference they mentioned was that the schwarma is served w/ tzatziki and the taouk is served w/ hummus. Go figure.

We just moved to the Pioneer Square area about a month ago and because we were lazy and didn't feel like unpacking our kitchen stuff, we ended up eating out *a lot*. Med Mix was a highly frequented place, not just because it's really the only good food in Pioneer Square but because it is super cheap, you get large portions, and it's really quality food! We still eat there when we don't feel like getting out the pots and pans. The only reason they get four stars instead of five is because they keep putting onions on my hummus wrap when we ask them not to and they don't have fountain sodas in the evenings- yes, fountain sodas are *that* important to me =) Bottom line, this place is good, cheap eats, and they're open super late on the weekends for those of us who get the midnight munchies!EDIT 3.06.08: OK, I've bumped it up to 5 stars cause they seem to have remedied the onion problem, and I can't fault them too much for turning the soda machine off at night since it's not as busy and I'm sure it wastes lots of valuable energy ;)

The best falafel ever, and cheap! I love this place, working downtown it's hard to find a decent, affordable eating establishment since everwhere you looks it's nothing but upscale, snooty booty cafes and wine bars. Nothing beats going here before or after a M's game if you starved yourself enough and avoided the $10 garlic fries. Seen a few concerts at qwest field event center and descended on this place in the later hours. Sitting outside on a warm summer morning around 1 am with tzatziki sauce dripping on your shirt, nothing comes close. I love the wall of sport's memobilia they have, although seeing Gary Payton wearing a Sonics jersey always gets me teared up, R.I.P. supes.

Since no one has bothered, I think I will pay homage to the meat served at this place; specifically the Gyro's. Isn't that the true meter of a Med joint? Whatever, it is for my flesh eating ass...They are insanely good - huge chunks of perfectly marinated lamb nestled in crisp lettuce and topped with onion, tomatoes and perfect Tzatziki. So much food that you feel like pulling a Costanza and taking a nappy under your desk.I also am a total slut for good Baba, and I LOVE theirs. The mush itself is great: garlicky, smooth and smoky. The preparation of the sandwich is what I love the most however; all wrapped up in warm, thick pita with a generous scoop of minty tabbouleh and the usual veggies and finally topped off with their nummy tahini sauce. This was one of many preggo cravings for me and why our child is sometimes referred to as Baby Ghanoush. I will end with the more humorous items on the menu, or at least one of them: The Cream Cheese Dog. What in the name of Falafel is that thing? Has anyone tried it? If so, please message me and tell me all about it. I tend to avoid cream cheese because of the nasty side effects that it produces in me. However, I have to say I have been very tempted by the ghetto fabulousness of it...Zania is your other option in the area for the same basic stuff and you will pay $8 there for what you pay $5 for here, and it wouldn't be nearly as good. Definitely worth trying to park in the Square.

On day 2 of KCSC jury duty after having done some research and asking around on Yelp, I selected much more wisely than Thai Star and came here around 11:30am, apparently barely missing Michael O.Even at 11:30, all the tables were full (all 4-5 of them), and a line of people formed behind me while I was deciding - this place is definitely popular.I had a shish tawook sandwich ($5) which was large and full of chicken and garlic goodness. If I had to eat lunch around Pioneer Square, I would definitely come back again and sample more of the menu, although I will say that despite how good and cheap it was, I can't give it 5 stars because it still made me long for Mediterranean Kitchen. I hope they're willing to take me back after this indiscretion.

I'll hop a tunnel bus from Westlake Station to Pioneer Square. As soon as I get a signal outside the tunnel, I'm ordering. Usually for everyone at workBest friggin' gyros fries this side of Lake Washington (Best in WA goes to Gyros 2 Go in Redmond).
by Curtis L.
Disappointed...Went back yesterday and they stop taking coupons. Food was still up to par and was a lot quicker than last. Still will come back if I have a craving but they lose a star for not taking a valid coupon. I go here when I have a craving for a gyro for lunch. I went today and it was busy. It was about a…

A perfect place to turn to when we had missed our bus after the event at Crimson C. The perfectly fluffy pita helped to dry my tears AND soak up the numerous martinis in my tummy. The meat was tender and delicious and the tzatziki sauce was some of the best I have tasted. I don't find myself in the neighborhood very often, but next time I do, I'll be walking right past the hot dog cart and back to The Mix.Edited because apparently I was too drunk to realize I was actually at the Mediterranean Mix, and not the, now closed, Mediterranean Kitchen.... :I

Cream cheese hot dog. Hard for me to order other things on the menu, even if there is so much more to order. Every time I'm in Seattle I have to come here for the cream cheese hot dog with onions and jalapenos. I did try the chicken schwarma last time i was there and ended up gettin a cream cheese hot dog right after, I had to, I was flying back home the next day. Next time I'll try the gyro and the philly. Great meal anytime of the day, and i mean anytime. don't mind the bums hanging out complaining about the dollar you gave them isn't enough. sucks they try and charge for refills and sodas. but the food is too good to pass up.
by Ian B.
I like the falafels and gyros here, but, honestly the place doesn't blow me away. I just go because it's cheap and close and always open. You do get a good bang for your buck though, and I can say for sure that I'll be back because there aren't a lot of better places that are cheaper and within walking distance.

I like balls! Falafel balls that is....While I haven't tried anything else, their falafel plate, for $6.00!!, is a darn good deal. 3 balls, a pita, and 3 equal sized piles of baba ganoush, tabouli salad, hummus and a pile of chickpeas/bean salad, as well as a nice side of lettuce, onions and chopped tomatoes, all for $6!?!?!? Good grief that's cheap! That was a better deal than the crack-wh#re just around the corner from this place, who offered me a "trip around the world" for $10 bucks!
by Chris S.
It's certainly ins't the most classy place you'll find to eat in Seattle, but the food is awesome. The Philly Cheese Steak is great and I've only heard good things about the rest of the food. The service is decent and the food comes fairly quick. They have a nice rang of things from the cream cheese dog to a gyro to a burger. Only street parking, or you can pay for a lot, I've only ever walked there from work.-Z

Note: this review is only about the hot dog cart out front. My husband's band played at the Central Saloon a few times last summer and the only thing that saved the smelly and loud situation at the Central was the hot dog cart outside. Like an oasis in a very chaotic desert, Mediterranean Mix's hot dog cart quenched our cream cheese thirsts. The band and myself all had a $4 hot dog piled high with grilled onions, relish, sour kraut, ketchup and our choice of jalapenos, brown mustard or yellow mustard. This cart is unique from the one outside of the Comet on Cap Hill because their buns are always fresh and toasted, they cut their sausages in half so as to get a good grill going on all the way through the meat and the little Greek gentleman at the Mix is always enthusiastic and will shoot the breeze with you whilst your meat is on the grill. They're out there grilling up dogs for the masses until 2 am on weekdays! But since the summer their doggie prices have gone up to $5 a piece. Still very worth it though. Ack, my mouth is watering for one of those plump sausages already.**Review not intended for those with dirty minds.

Medi Mix is fantastic. I have yet to eat anything there that was anything less than heavenly. Especially their philly sandwich. And dolmah. And giro. And schawarma. And...well...it's all DELICIOUS!!!! And their cream cheese hotdogs are second to none.

Got my 3 Q's! Quick, Quality, and Quantity! Delicious! Any choice on their large menu is a good choice! Just make sure you bring a bib because it can get messy!Must Try: Beef Gyro and the Balaclava DELICIOUS and total less than $10! Open late! PS great Cream Cheese Hot Dogs on those cold, drunken nights (stands out at 7:30p!)

I had to work on Saturday and did not want to eat at Subway, so I trekked down here for a gyro. The meat and the tzatziki was pretty good, but thought that the fries were only ok. It was fine and all, but I doubt I would go out of my way to come here again.Zipzap Zubidy Bop!

Tastiness for a reasonable price in Pioneer Square- whhhaaatttttt? Their small menu was filled with delectable sounding dishes of Mediterranean origin (go figure). Everyone in our group got something different that looked similar, but tasted wildly different. Prices run around $6 for a gyro-like sandwich. Shop is small, but there is enough room to for a party of 10 easily. Service is also exceptionally quick.

Decent food but a dirty establishment. This place is always crowded during the lunch hour. Imagine eating inside of a packed King County Metro bus and you have an idea of what a busy lunch is like here.If you are a hardcore germaphobe you probably wouldn't like this place.I made the mistake of sitting outside one day when it was nice and was harassed by every homeless person that walked by and asked for everything from my drink to a handful of french fries to $20.

Excellent falafel..!!!Very different from the falafels I was used to in the ave.The falafels here are so much fuller and have so much more taste.Goes excellent with turkish coffee.More expensive than their cheaper counterparts, but definitely worth the little extra.

This is a great lunch spot. I work nearby and come here from time to time. They are fast, reliable, and pretty much everything on the menu is good. I tend to get the Chicken Schwarma, which is my favorite. The gyro's are also pretty tasty. I'm not sure if they are even open during dinner hours, but if you're looking for some good lunch, nothing too big or too small. medi-mix is a good pick.

It's late...really late at night and as you pick your head up from some all-encompassing project that must be done in the off-hours or you're just getting in late from your extracurricular activities...and you're hungry. Out of luck? Not if you're into mouthwatering shwarma, grilled chicken, falafel, or those famous Seattle dawgs with cream cheese...cuz Mediterranean Mix is open, they also have a candy counter and geez Louise am I a happy camper here!

Best place in Seattle for "real" (a.k.a. New York-style) falafel sandwiches and other Mediterranean fare.Although I'm vouching only for the falafel. Which I love. The sandwich is a divine concoction, featuring 4 balls of crispy, dense, spicy, deep-fried (of course) falafel folded into a pita and doused with tahini sauce, additional chick peas, lettuce, chunks of tomato, and onions. It's a sturdy sandwich, as they don't open the pita, but use the thick fluffy bread as a wrap. Much less prone to tearing than pita used as a "pocket." They'll hot it up with as much red sauce as you like, and slather on extra tahini sauce if you ask! Tummy busting goodness, for around five bucks. Yay! I'm a fan!

MMMmmm!!! Best gyro in Pioneer Square/surrounding area- been coming here for years. The only reason to visit Pioneer Square. The decor of the shop is great, assorted trinkets from Seattle teams and random artwork is scattered on the walls and from the ceiling.Open late very late!

Pieces of heaven on a plate...That's what it's all about at Mediterranean Mix. You're going to get your usual variations of lamb, chicken and beef, and behold, they're all delicious. Go for any of the gyros and salads, and you won't be disappointed. The menus are easy to read, and you'll notice that they offer cheeseburgers and their signature cream cheese hot dog as well. It's a little odd, but they're catering to the crowd, so I'll take it!I've been here on a Friday night, and it's quite nice to be able to sit down at a proper table and enjoy a drunken meal rather than making a mess over it on the sidewalk. Alas, eating Mediterranean Mix's meals both drunk and sober, I can honestly say that it's delicious both ways.
