As a Russian female, this is as close to home as I am going to get. Every time we have went, it was enjoyable. I haven't been in several months, and I miss it. The menu is 100% authentic, and the entertainment is as well. The borscht is as good as my babooshka 's. The last time we went we started with a cold Hors D'oeuvre of Pickled Vegetable Medley ($5.49), a warm Hors D'oeuvres of Mini hicken Kebab Saute' ($6.99), an Eggplant Aliol salad ($3.99), and a bowl of Borsht ($4.99). I ordered the Crepes with Red Caviar ($11.99) as my entree, which is a traditional Russian dish. My husband ordered Chicken Tabaka ($11.99) which is Pressed Cornish hen with garlic and spices with baby red potatoes. All which was delicious. We ordered a bottle of wine ($45.99), and for dessert, we shared the Vareninki with Cherries ($7.99) which is Russian agnolotti pasta shells stuffed with cherries. They offer flavored tobacco for the Hookah, and entertainment that matches the quality of food. The entertainment was Boris and his sax. Which was smooth and soothing. My husband actually teased me because it was very sexy. They offer Russian accent dinners and shows every Friday at 6pm. They actually have a bear that dances, and belly dancers. We look forward to our new years eve (Jan 7th) at St. Petersburg nights. The seating is limited, so you might want to call ahead for reservations. This is a must go if you are in the area.

Don't expect to be in and out of here in no time. It takes a while for food to come out because it's all made from scratch in-house, just like it should be. The staff is pretty friendly, and they have entertainment periodically (they had a Borat screening one night, belly dance haflas once a month, singers, etc.). It's a nice dark atmosphere where you could sit hours on end.The menu has a lot of traditional things on it, many of them I can't spell. I ordered a chicken kiev and it was nice. Pretty much everything comes with a side (mashed potatoes with onion, fried potatoes, or a veggie), a side salad (just mixed greens with oil, there may have been some tomato), and bread with an onion and oil mixture for dipping. I'm sure the server can help you through picking something on the menu if you ask. It's definitely a nice change from a lot of the generic restaurants in the area. Oh, and reservations are encouraged for the bd haflas because they can get packed.

This place is very strange. I'm pretty sure it must be some sort of club/entertainment venue in the evenings. I only ever come here because my sister wants a chance to speak russian with some strangers. The walls are painted black and feathers on strings are hanging from the ceiling. There is a giant screen playing reruns of a Russian new years celebration. I remember once the tv was off and there was a live singer - a capella. Also a pretty large dance floor - which has probably been used once. There have never been more than one or two other parties there at the same time. Not that these are horrible things, just a little odd. As for the food, I don't recall anything spectacular (or horrible). All of the menu items are traditional Russian meals. I usually order vareniki or pelmeni and end up pretty satisfied.

I'm in agreement with a previous poster that this place has a very odd feel to it. It seems like it might be fun, until you get there, and then it's just strange. Entertainment ranged from a tv showing russian recaps to their "live" entertainment, a solo singer . Considering it was us and one other couple there, it was just weird. The food, ah ok, nothing spectacular. Borsht is a borscht is a borsht. The main reason I WONT go back is the dancing bear. Once they brought that in we immediately informed the server as to how tasteless and inhumane it is to have a dancing bear in a food establishment. We also asked if the health department knows they bring a wild animal into an eating establishment, comment on both issues was "no comment" So obviously the health department has never been here and in my opinion that's reason enough not to go! A bear, at a restaruant , come on! Even the country of Russia gave into the humane societies demands to stop using bears for entertainment and find other ways of making a living. I just find it too tasteless for words. If you care about animal welfare at all, don't go here.
