I had lunch at med cuisine, as I have many times before, but it has been a while and since I just moved back to Nashville I was ready to form a new opinion.  Surprisingly I still really like it. I have heard a slew of bad comments and how people think its not very good, but overall, I am normally very satisfied with my experience. The service can sometimes be poor and slow yet today I sat down at 1230 and was leaving by 1 with a good meal in my stomach.  I think that their hummus is great, they serve the real lamb gyro meat, which is a big plus considering so many mediterranean places have switched over to the frozen pre-sliced bullshit meat. I tried my friend's falafel and it was crispy and delicious.  I had the hummus platter with the gyro meat and it was a little oily. I dont know if it was olive oil drizzled on top or the grease from the meat, but it was still tasty none the less. They also have hookah's there which is a plus and even if the service was bad, im still more concerned with food than anything else so I probably would not change my vote.  The price is also reasonable for what you are getting so that keeps me satisfied as well. Will definitely go back for more.

Mediterranean Cuisine is a favorite lunch spot of mine.  The food is your standard mid range Mediterranean fare that is priced accordingly.  The gyro's are really good and the lamb they use always tastes pretty good, but sometimes a bit greasy, but I like that sometimes.  In the gyro they use the standard gyro sauce, but I think they must put a lot of cilantro in it because it has a really fresh zing to it.  It is located across from Vanderbilt, so it can get packed with kids during lunch, especially since they have a hookah you can smoke out of.

Located on top of Cheeseburger Charley's, Mediterranean Cuisine offers a nice change from the Vandy area standard. I have never been there when it has not taken forever to get my meal, or even a menu for that matter, but when the food finally comes I tend leave happy. I don't think it's amazing Mediterranean cuisine but I do think it's a great spot to grab a quick lunch (well, eat quick but wait a while to get your food). Their hummus is good and oily just like I like it, and for lunch usually get a gyro plate with rice or lentils, which I have always found to be really good. All in all I wouldn't go there expecting anything amazing, but do go there and expect a good stomach filling meal.

Today's visit had the distinction of being the first--in my whole life--that I did not leave a tip at a restaurant.  The service was so awful I can't even begin to explain. This was not my first visit, however, and others have been better.  The food is good for the money--quite cheap--and it is a decent lunch spot near Vanderbilt.  The service, however, never seems to be quite fast enough.  I strongly recommend calling ahead and picking it up.

Since I've been going to Med Cuisine the ownership has changed a couple times and with it the quality of the food.  About five years ago I had a pretty great falafel.  Two years ago my falafel was horrid.  The other day it was blah, but not terrible.  So I guess the moral of the story is if you choose to dine here, cross your fingers and wish for good luck. They've expanded the seating area in the last couple years but the decor is just as cheesy.  There's an outdoor seating area, but it isn't always open.  The only great thing I ever had there was a mango tea, so check for that on the menu.

Okay, okay so the service is bad.  Everyone knows it, even the owner and staff know it (full disclosure, i used to work at Med Cuisine), but they try the best they can.  And for the price and quality of food, it's almost worth it.  The best thing on the menu is the jalapeno hummus.  Made fresh daily, it's got a lot of kick to it, and is perfect with grilled flat bread (just a dollar or two more).  The falafel is great as well, with Med Cuisine being one of the few Mediterranean restaurants in Nashville that make their falafels from both fava beans AND chickpeas.  The gyro meat is perfect, and even the sauce is a great change from the typical creamy Tzatziki. It's also a great place for vegetarians or vegans to eat.  Aesthetically, they've come a long way over the past few years to improve the atmosphere.  They've added more booths, and the walls have been painted with murals.  And they used to have Hookah as well to enjoy, though I'm not sure if the local ordinances have changed that.    But for Pete's sake, if you're in a hurry during lunch, maybe take the food to go or go somewhere else.  Because lunch can get busy, and there's usually only 2 or 3 servers, so you should be prepared to wait.  But if you can manage, it's well worth it.

I've only been here once, but from what I tried, it was damn good.  I had the falafel pocket.  It was a pita filled with falafel, hummus, tabouleh, and tahini.  It was cheap and awesome.  The server was very courteous.  It was overall a good experience.

My boss absolutely loves this place, so I decided to walk up for lunch one day. I  was actually pretty impressed. I really liked their hummus, it's very creamy and olive oily, and their pitas were soft. I had the falafel pita liked it. They don't over full the falafels like some places, which is a plus. It was really busy, so the service was a little slow, but manageable. I'll definitely be back.

This might be the first time I've written a review while still sitting in the place, but there's always a first...Being located right beside a university means there's always someone with their laptop out in a casual restaurant. Mellow Mushroom across the street even has free wi-fi. So it's nice to know you can whip out your computer in the middle of your meal here if you need it. But I digress...This is one of my favorite lunch spots. They have falafel pockets for $4.99, which is pretty fantastic. They also have veggie cheeseburgers, which are delicious, but a little oily. The hummus is incredible, and the baba ganush is too. They also have various types of juices (not fresh, but still great) in flavors that you won't find in most places, like mango. The staff here is very friendly, though often overwhelmed by the # of customers. It gets pretty busy at lunch time, but tends to be rather empty at dinner. If you want to come to a quite place, you might have this huge restaurant almost all to yourself! The food usually arrives rather quickly, or at least it has for me. The decor is nothing spectacular. It sort of looks like they moved into an old diner and just stuck up there middle eastern decorations. Some parts are actually quite beautiful, though. You just have to ignore the upholstery. I think the key thing about this place is that it seems to be the only place around where you can get decent falafel. I'd highly recommend trying that. It's nice to see something a little different in Nashville, especially right around campus.
