I have had exquisite Indian cuisine in the past and I love curry, but this restaurants food was borderline inedible. The restaurant itself is very pretty and the staff was friendly, but the food was terrible. I went there for the lunch buffet and it was slim pickings. The chicken had hard crunchy seasonings that tasted like they should be in a perfume, not on food. The rice was crunchy  and everything was just overly seasoned. They had some sort  of ground up fish curry that, I hate to admit, I did not have the guts to try because it looked like somebody diarrheaed in a bowl.  I know Indian food can be very fragrant and they use a lot of spices and curry, and it's delicious when it is done right, but a frightful mess when prepared incorrectly. We ended up filling up on the bread, lol, cause it was the only thing that tasted semi-decent.

Don't go. I give places a few tries before I write a review, and sad to say this ONE has to be negative. 1. Very, very strange hours. 2. Wait staff unbelievably rude (seriously, if you hate it that bad go home and neither of you are pretty enough to have those kinds of attitudes). 3. Mediocre food buffet or dinner. 4. Don't ask for a refill or you will get the death look from hell. Horribly unfriendly wait staff, mediocre food; save your money go somewhere else. Caution if you just have to go, buffet is OVER at 1:45. If you walk in at 1:35 they will seat you, but whatever is on the buffet that's it! No more food will be made! Just to warn you.

I've had great Indian food before, and this is not it! The chicken Tika masala tastes like canned tomato sauce. The naan is definiteley not yummy and the worst thing about this place is that it's named tandoor, but there is no tandoori chicken!!

I was actually a bit surprised by the reviews after checking this place out. I was hesitant at coming to this place because of what I've heard from other friends. We decided to brave it though at lunch because for a $7.99 lunch buffet, it was worth the risk. The decor was pretty cool. They had some tables with the cushions instead of chairs. Still had some chairs for those that are less adventurous. Other than some home cooked stuff, I've never had Indian food before. Not sure that my review is worth all that much then because I am not actually comparing it to anything I've had before. Having said that, all of us that went were impressed with the flavors and such of the food. There isn't a whole lot of variety on Wilma Rudolph Blvd, so this place was a welcome change.  For those who don't like spicy food, you may want to find another place to eat. Overall, I thought the food was great. I am not usually a fan of buffets. This one was well worth it.

Tandoor has reopened across the street in the same complex with Kohls. I'll give them this: The restaurant now has a 6.99 lunch buffet which has clearly improved their business. HOWEVER, Tandoor still comes off as pretentious and the food is still subpar. The waitstaff has headsets, to stay co-ordinated, though never so much that the tables have silverware. The food in the buffett...well, if you like rock hard potatoes and crunchy rice, frozen fruit haphazardly mixed with instant pudding, or overly salty dal......this might be the place for you.If you've never had Indian food before, this is not a representation of the best, despite the decor. I found it very interesting that the same week they served plastic in my undercooked dal that…

The saddest thing about Tandoor is that it is my favorite Indian restaurant of all time.  Why is that sad? Because it's in freakin' Clarksville, Tennessee and I live in Berkeley, California and unless I join the army, the likelihood I'll ever end up in Clarksville again is a long shot. I know you doubt my judgment here. I know you're thinking my perceptions must have been skewed somehow. Sure, maybe my tastebuds had been worn down from a week of the Country Inn Suite's "continental breakfast" (aka Pop tarts and something  colored like coffee). And, yes, I admit I was overcome with relief to see an appetizer list that had words other than "fried" and "cheese" on it (but oh yes, Tandoor does serve paneer pakora - I just skipped it, given the cheese-laden week I'd had). But I was in an Indian restaurant. In Tennessee. I was not expecting excellence, believe me! Yet Tandoor blew my mind - from the beautiful pillow laden booths to the attentive but quiet service - and the food...dish after dish, I went to my own little nirvana. While waiting for the check, I actually thought:"Hmmm, I could live in Clarksville and not want to kill myself." And you know what else? If I ever go to Nashville, I will probably rent a car and drive the 40 miles west just so I can enjoy their Bangen Ka Bartha (tandoor oven-baked eggplant) and Lamb Karahi with mint, plus a 22 oz Taj Mahal - one more time. And as long as I'm going that far, I might just check out their hookah room.

If you're reading this, it may be because you've found yourself (or expect to find yourself) trapped in the cultural void that is Clarksville, TN, and are wondering how you'll be able to survive there. I certainly did for the first year I spent stationed at Fort Campbell. Then this place opened up...Believe it or not, there is an Indian restaurant in Clarksville with a gorgeous atmosphere, friendly staff, and some of the best Indian food you'll find anywhere. They even have vegan options on their menu nowadays!!!Let me repeat that, for those who don't believe me:There is an Indian restaurant in Clarksville, Tennessee...It has vegan food. It's actually good.I'm not kidding. You need to eat here.
