Egyptian Coffee Shop Reviews

This place is the reason I spend so many nights crying/complaining about missing NY. The best sheesha on this side of the Atlantic by far...Now let's get down to business - if you're not middle eastern, be prepared to be leered at by the staff and other patrons, and expect a slightly longer wait for service.if you're female, for the sake of everyone, please cover your mamays...no one wants to hear you complain about the "skeezy terrorist" ooglin' your goodies... you obviously wore that top so SOMEONE would oogle 'em... if you walk down steinway in skanky clothes, people WILL talk so keep that in mind and leave the tube top at home (not that you should come nude, but leave it at home in exchange for something more conservative) This doesn't necessarilly refer to the WONDERFUL staff at Egyptian Coffee Shop, but rather to Steinway as a whole.if you're female AND arab, that goes double for you - not only does someone probably know your father, but the skeezy men will stare twice as hard at their "own kind"all of this being said, the atmosphere here (and in other sheesha spots on steinway) is amazing, they're open til i believe 5 or 6 am, and you can't beat the price or the flavor.

Something that is so magical about a place is when you stumble on it and this is what I discovered when I came here while the rest of the hookah bars along steinway are pretty much similar to the ones in the village overrated dumps or just plain tacky. Egyptian Coffee Shop stands out as the ultimate middle eastern experience men gathered around backgammon watching soccer games while puffing away on the most simple flavors of shisha. If you want to feel like your really in the middle east I defiantly recommend coming here if you want to smoke blueberry chocolate chip while shitty music is being played then go two doors down.

Yes, Mia and I have spent many a night here. So many that it's amazing that we didn't pitch a tent inside the place. And, why did we keep going back? Egyptian Coffee Shop has attentive service. In many other sheesha places on Steinway, my friends and I have gone 30 minutes with dead coals, waiting for them to be replaced (yes, no matter how many times you flag down your server). Egyptian Coffee Shop CONSTANTLY has good service, no matter how 'packed' they are. The sheesha is smooth, with amazing flavor, no matter which one you choose. And try the strawberry juice; it's fresh and one of the many staples of this place.I love how they keep the TV on LBC / ArabSat too (especially late night).
