SJ Cigars Reviews
No refunds by Stanislavsky S
As was noted earlier, they do not honor receipts and refuse to return defective products. I purchased a hookah from there several years ago and the hoses split and the hookah was hard to draw smoke through. They would not replace defective hoses, the defective fittings, or even give advice on how to service the hookah. They sell poor quality pipes. As was mentioned, they will not replace defective lighters. Refunds are out of the question.
Some of the staff are helpful, but some of them are also pushy about forcing you to buy the store brand shisha. The store brand stinks. Some of them are overly pushy about getting you to buy their store brand cigars. Their cigars are average to poor. I have been to the store in Springfield and they are even worse. I used to shop this place because they have fair prices of Nakhla tobacco, but I have decided to move on to better stores.
Horrible service!!! by Brian
I went into this store on the way to school to look at their Zippo lighters. I found one I liked, purchased it, and went on my way. I got home and went to open it up to fill it and the hinge was bent leaving the lid sitting on a slant. I looked at the receipt and it said that returns within 7 days would be accepted with vaild receipt, but only for store credit. I thought oh well I will just get another one. Today, 2 days after the original purchase, I went in and showed them my issue with both the Zippo and receipt, plus the original boxes and stickers. The clerk said he had to call his boss. 10 minutes later he comes out with a sticky note with Zippo's return address saying I have to take it up with them. He said his boss would not return the zippo, even though I didn't want cash or store credit, just another one to replace it. I argued with him showing him the stores return policy, and asked how they could accept tobacco products for returns and not a obvious defected product, and he said it was basically my issue, not theirs. This store is horrible with customer service, so beware when buying products from S.J. Cigar!!! They will not honor the contract on their receipts!

I have gone to this place a number of times before to pick up Djarum cigarettes for my best friend. Prior to today they would have gotten two stars. However, I was there without enough cash to buy three packs totaling approximately $21 and was told that they only take debit for cigars. This would be like my going to the grocery store and being told they don't take debit for toilet paper. I mean, what's the difference??? Just another reason I love to visit Brett and Phil at Harry's in Olde City instead! They do have a large walk-in humidor so for you cigar aficionados this might be a more palatable spot.

I popped in SJ Cigars just to see if they had any hookah tobacco and much to my surprise found that they were selling my favorite brand -- Tangiers. An (internet)buddy of mine makes this stuff out of the back of his lounge in San Diego and distributes it to various online merchants and shop owners throughout the country. However, SJ Cigars is selling it under the name "Delicioso Shisha" for more than double the cost, and it would almost seem as though they're trying to give the impression that it's their own line of tobacco.Prices on Al Fakher and Nakhla tobaccos may have been roughly standard -- I don't remember exactly. But as for the Tangiers -- and this stuff IS Tangiers, just with some of the flavor names changed -- you'll save a ton of money by buying online. Buy your charcoal online, too. Still, it's nice to know that someplace in Philly is paying attention to the good stuff, and that I can pick it up locally if I for some reason don't have time to wait for shipping.
