Awesome place. The hookahs are fantastic, the mint tea is delicious, and their babaganoosh is tasty. I already Yelped them but they are 3/3 for my visits. Each time the staff is VERY friendly and helpful. Last night I went there with a friend and they taught us how to blow rings! I had never been able to do it right but they showed me a simple way of doing it and by the end of the night I was puffing out rings like the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland. Very friendly people, great place, and low key. I'm happy to give them 5-stars! Great hookah spot in Adam's Morgan! We stopped in based on Yelp reviews. I live in Rosslyn so the…

This just might be my new favorite place in Adams Morgan, which is saying a lot because I LOVE brunch along 18th Street. The atmosphere is chill, the seating is expansive, and the owners couldn't be more fantastic. Tasty food, awesome hookah lounge, and during the day, a great place for students to study while sipping a pleasantly-addictive cup of hot tea (free wireless!). You won't find a nicer neighborhood hangout than this place.

wow ok it was like night and day walking outta kokopoolis and into this hookah bar... its as if all of georgetown decided to stop here and not pass the line on the street that leads to the end of the adam morgan's strip...  maybe cuz this place does not have a liquor license and caters to the less 'raw' crowd and to the yuppees.  anyhoo, it was pretty packed at 11:30 and it was pretty packed when we got back at 2... place opens til 4 which means it prolly caters more to the after party crowd once the alcoholic places shut down... service was good but kokopoolis kinda set the standard for me that night so nothing could compare...  anyway hookah is humongous and will last ur table a while...  food was alright too... hummus good,  schwarma a lil dry, pita also a lil dry... very chill atmosphere and again very cheap!

Great Place. Friendly staff indeed, kind of quiet and mellow. Nice Decor, good sheesha, and great tea =]Four stars because sometimes the music selection is definitely a no.

I was looking for a new hookah spot to try besides Gazuza and Prince Cafe.  Luckily I found the reviews on YELP and decides to check it out.  We showed up around 2am and had melon sheesha, and some of the most delicious food I have ever had!  For the three of us, our bill was around $50!  If you go to Prince Cafe, you end up dropping at least $30 on a ridiculous cover charge.  I definitely recommend this place and I will be back!

My friend and I were looking for a hookah bar in the Adam's Morgan area. We checked out three places (peeked through the window and listened to the music being played) and chose Tangier Restaurant and Hookah Lounge. It was my first time going to a hookah lounge. The atmosphere was warm and the people were very friendly. The waitress took our drink order and then we placed or ordered the tobacco. I had Moroccan coffee and a bottled water and my friend ordered Mango juice (bottled) and a banana smoothie (made with milk). The drink were great but the banana smoothie would have tasted better had it been made with a ripe banana. The tobacco was tasteful. We smoked a combination of double apple, sweet melon, mango, and banana. They prepare the hookah in the back (out of sight) and when they bring it out they also give each person a plastic mouthpiece to use. I was expecting to see a hookah with multiple hoses but the ones at this place had only one hose. We sat in a booth, which I will say was not the most comfortable booth in the world. The bathroom was decent (that's a big deal for me). The place was cozy although the decor needs a little improvement. The lighting was dim (I like it that way). The highlight of the night was when the a belly dancer appeared. She got the crowd going, did one dance and changed outfits before performing a second dance. We didn't stay much longer after that. since we had been there for three hours. I'm definitely going back - mainly because they did a good job making me feel comfortable and I felt like this place really valued my patronage.

I consider myself a relatively well traveled person both in the U.S. and abroad so I am not embellishing when I say Tangier is one of the best lounges I've visited.  I'm going to write an extensive review because Tangier definitely deserves it.Like a lot of places in big urban cities, Tangier is not atheistically appealing at first glance.  It looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but when you walk in, you're instantly surrounded by subtle dark pink walls, salmon color lounges, and an overall relaxing and unpretentious atmosphere (unlike its counterparts in Dupont and Adams Morgan).  We started off with dinner.  The menu is quite simple but still provides a great selection of entrees, small dishes, and teas (both Moroccan and other Middle Eastern varieties.  I ordered the Moroccan tea (free refill) with a falafel.  There was a vegetarian option which I opted for because I'm observing meatless Fridays for Lent.  My friends ordered the entrees and according to them, they absolutely loved them especially the hummus and lamb.  Prices are cheap for DC standards - $7 for mine and $8-10 for the entrees. After our food, we went for the hookah which was brought out by Andre, apparently the owner's brother, who was one of the most gregarious and fun-loving person I've encountered in DC.  He treated us as if he's known us for years... he definitely embodied the warm Middle Eastern hospitality that is often lacking in our American society.  We chose the $12 hookah option which came with 4 flavors - Andre recommended the mint, cherry, lemon and something else that we REALLY enjoyed.  Although the restaurant got very busy at around 10pm, he still came over to our table to chat with us about our lives and his own.   Additionally,  we were treated to an amazing and very talented belly dancer who came out at least three times!  The music and her dancing were in sync, and it got the entire room excited particularly the man in the booth adjacent to us who spontaneously got up from his seat and (unsuccessfully) attempted to out dance her! hahaIn the end, our bill for FOUR people came out to $50!  Mind you, this included two hookahs, at least 2 servings of tea, and all our entrees and dishes!  Granted prices for other parties will vary, $50 for everything we consumed, live entertainment, and AMAZING service was an extremely great deal.  I recommend this restaurant and lounge for almost any occasion.  Everything from just a chillax night with friends or co-workers to a birthday event (one table celebrated a birthday) to taking out-of-town guests, Tangier is the way to go and you will not be disappointed.  We arrived at 8pm and didn't leave until 12:30.  Obviously, we enjoyed ourselves :)

I stopped by Tangier Lounge after being turned away from Soussi, which was at capacity.  Tangier turned out to be a great alternative - a very basic, yet fulfilling, shisha lounge.Very friendly staff- Moroccans who are happy to indulge me when I speak to them in Arabic.Open late.  We left at 3am on a Saturday night.Shisha is above average but not premium.  The pipes are ashy.  However, they give you an extra coal from the beginning, have tons of ma3sl flavors (including harder to find Rose, Jasmine, Mint), and are better than prince.Floors seats aren't sticky (as per most Adams Morgan shisha places) and I didn't see any roaches - yay! Menu includes basic staples - hummos, taamiya (falafel), baklava, juice, tea, water, soda, etc.Props to the owner for bringing back some mini-tagines from this last trip to Morocco in order to sell to patrons.  Very hot.All in all - great place to kick back (ample seating) without feeling too grimy, and I'm always pleased when staff make me feel like I'm back in the middle east... if I'm in the neighborhood, I'll pass by - in fact, might even seek this place out if I want shisha in DC.

This place is like the DMZ of drunk smoking. We had a group of just short of a dozen hanging out here for about two hours and included me jumping up and screaming "FUCK YO' COUCH!" across the restaurant at 2:30am. There was a reason for this at the time I think

I had really high hopes this place would be nice based on the reviews I read on yelp.  Unfortunately, our experience here was awful.  We had dinner and shisha here.  We ordered the three side and rice for dinner and the chicken shwarma.  The babaganoush lacked flavor, and the chicken shwarma was one ofthe worst I've ever had. The shisha tasted like ash and to top it all off when we went to pay the bill we had been overcharged (they charged us for each side instead of giving us the price for the three side special).  When we asked the waiter/owner to correct their mistake he blamed us for not rejecting the food when they brought it to out table.  How were we supposed to know how large the sides were supposed to be?  It was our first time there.  The menu also indicated that students would receive a 10% discount, but when we were paying our bill they informed us that the 10% only applied to the shisha which was not indicated anywhere on the menu.I've lived in the middle east and have been smoking shisha for 10 years and the fact that this has been the worst experience I've had at a shisha place should warn anyone inclined to trying this place against it.

My friends and I were visiting DC and after researching on yelp, made a list of places to potentially eat/drink/smoke hookah/etc.We passed by Soussi and while we gazed wistfully at the outdoor seating and the atmospheric candles, we decided to avoid the crowd and head to Tangier. We were happy we did. The service was wonderful. The guy that helped us made us a special blend and  at first we were like "damn...what if we hate it?" but the moment we smelled and tasted it on our tongue it was amazing. He made a mix of Banana, Apple, and Watermelon. yums. He was attentive to our coal and made sure we liked the blend he made. We also got their hummus- homemade btw. Delicious. At 11pm there was bellydancing but we missed most of that because we chose to sit in the backroom and be more antisocial. We drank tea, ate hummus, smoked hookah, and watched television. Around 11:30pm the place started to fill up with people and the music got cranked up. Good music though- It isn't the type of music that pisses you off when it is too loud. By midnight it was packed. We left at 1am to go explore the rest of the nightlife in the adam morgan area. If we come back to dc, we will definitely come back.and I don't know what was going on with the other reviewer's experience, but they definitely did not charge us for water...
