This is one of those quirky, doesn't really fit in sort of shops that you can occasionally find in Georgetown. I like it though. The window usually features a few belly dancing outfits, some ethnic tops or dresses (not sure of the origin) and a hookah pipe or two. They have tons of really inexpensive, cute tops to choose from and a massive selection of belly dancing costumes (not sure what market they are catering to here). They also sell belly dancing shoes, finger thimbles and these coin-like scarf/belt things that apparently are part of the costume, but I bought one for the heck of it. If you can't get enough of the hookah pipe and flavored tobaccos at the many restaurants/lounges in the area that offer it, you can buy your own here. The owner is nice, albeit a bit pushy at times, but if you reiterate that you are JUST LOOKING a couple times, he usually backs off. Fun shop - worth a look.

So I have spent many a dollar in the store looking for pieces to wear to my belly dance performances.  Although, I tend to find some nice unique costume pieces and some great jewelry I must admit that the owners typically are a HUGE turn off for going back.  I visited there today looking for a skirt and even took one in that I purchased from there many a year ago to give them an idea of what I was looking for.  The sales people are pushy...and even if you tell them you want a specific color they show you every color  of the rainbow!

Pushy? Okay, maybe a little bit but really friendly and good at it. We found beautiful dresses which i would expect to pay over $100 for, but you can barter with them, and since i'm a college student I ended up getting a $40 dress (a very unique and pretty tie-dye gown that makes me feel like a hippy princess) for 30$, and at the checkout, she gave my friend and I a golden bracelet. She's a good conversationalist, very nice, and a business woman so I think she's allowed to be pushy. Plus, I totally fell for it.

I've walked past this store hundreds of times over the past couple years but I didn't bother to stop in until I needed to buy an outfit for a South Asian dinner I was going to.  I was pleasantly surprised to walk in and see all the great things they had inside.Pretty South Asian-styled flats in every color imaginable, pashminas of different colors and patterns stacked up to the ceiling, and the largest selection of skirts I've ever seen.  Wrap skirts, belly-dancing skirts, and just plain long flowy skirts, anything you can think of!  They also have hookahs, jewelry, and other trinkets I didn't get a chance to browse through. The old guy that works there is very friendly and gave me a free gold bangle on the way out after my purchase of a skirt, shoes, and earrings.  I'll definitely be back here again.
