not enough word out there to describe OASIS. another thing i miss of NOVA, the hookah joints in steinway don't come even close. even my folks from the big apple tdot agree on. as you step in here you will be greeted even if there is no place to sit, i was a regular so a high 5 or a hug was usual from the main server, i don't know his name though. i mainly came here to unwind, have a fruit cocktail, or maybe a nescafe.i always tried the rose/ mango or the strawberry sheesha. tried the food, it was good. loved playing chess or cards here, even thought the music was blasting most of the time it was very soothing. see you guys in march 07 , i will be there for the bhangra blowout

Route 7 in Northern Virginia has long been glamourized for intense shopping in the likes of Tysons Corner and Leesburg Outlets, and shopping plazas galour.  Take a turn off of Route 7 onto George Mason Dr. and experience something even more enjoyable than a day at Tysons Galleria. - Oasis Cafe.That is... if you can find parking...Walking from the lot to the door, expect to dodge cab drivers looking for a spot and 16 year old kids hoping not to get carded. (Sorry kids, they do card. You've gotta be 18!)On a Friday or Saturday night, don't expect to find a table right away.  If you're lucky (or cute, or know the right people) the head waiter will make people move together to get you a table. (shameless plug, I *ADORE* Redwan)Route 7 traffic, parking, and getting a table might SEEM like a lot of stress, but once you sit down on their Moroccan style benches (well maybe they're ALGERIAN, because Moroccan ones would be more comfortable), tune in to the Haifa playing over the speakers and order a smoothie and a hookah - life's cares will seemingly drift away.The important part here is - ORDER A SMOOTHIE.  They're fresh and AMAZING!  Guava and Banana are my personal favs, but they're all amazing.  The best sheesha flavors at Oasis - cherry, berries, and apricot.  As a side note, you can also pick up your supplies here - they sell nakhla tobacco and 3 kings charcoals, but are a bit more expensive than Madina Market.Oasis is a great place to go on a weekend evening or a Tuesday afternoon.Or if you're not the smoking type (please don't talk to me haha) grab a falafel sandwich.  Order it with extra tahini and your tastebuds will melt away with yumminess.

I would rather die than go here, the service sucks and the food is just okay if your 50yrs old than you might love it. :)

You can find the most random characters smoking hookah, playing various games of cards, chess, etc, eating, and watching the videos of bellydancers on TV. Oasis has a very laid-back vibe and it's like a hidden gem in a non-descript shopping plaza. Open 24-hours a day.

Sadly my beloved Oasis cafe, where I've been going since high school has closed down and the ownership is using the space for a hookah accessory and Egyptian knick-knack shop. Goodbye cheap hookahs of all flavors. Goodbye local teens and hooligans. Goodbye yummy smoothies and sandwiches served 24 hours. Now you can buy a decorative plate with King Tut on it. Isn't that better? Sarcasm aside, the new store does have a decent selection of tobacco for the hookah. Its still sad though.

This quaint little cafe has been invaluable to me for three purposes in life...1. A refuge away from reality2. A place to wind down after a night of alcohol-ing :P3. A place to hang out with friends who don't drinkWhen I want to get away from the typical urban-suburban life, this is where I go. It's hidden in a little strip mall off of Route 7 marked by brightly lit orange signs... you'll see. The moment you enter, you'll notice that the businesses are pre-dominantly Middle Eastern, as there are lots of halal stores, hookah bars, various Arabic cuisine, and even a Persian hair salon. For me, it's kind of a home away from home... lots of familiar cultures and usually lots of familiar people. One of the best things about Oasis is that it is open 24 hours a day. For all the crazy night-owls out there like myself, this is absolutely perfecto! Park yourself here for a couple of hours to get some munchies in your system... they have lots of kabobs, sweets, and side-dishes. Honestly, I don't come here to really eat, but when I do get hungry I go for either the hummus, baba ghanouj, or french fries... the fries are HUGE and sososoooo good. Top it all off with a refreshing smoothie, some fruity schweppes soda, or a glass of hot tea with lots of mint.Although it's a great late-night spot, I should stress that Oasis does NOT serve alcohol. For some, I know this is disappointing... but really, it is nice to have some good clean sober fun sometimes. Settle yourself here with a group of friends and order what it's best known for... the hookah! They have a vast array of flavors ranging from double apple to orange to even cappuccino. The decor is a bit heavy with hanging lights everywhere and huge wall-sized murals, but that's what makes it all the more fun as it feels like a night spent in the city of Cairo. Arabic music is always blasting  and people certainly aren't shy to get up and shake it either!So come and order a few different flavored hookahs, grab a deck of cards or a backgammon board, and just sit back... relax... and let yourself just pass the hours on by.

The owners are nice and the place is cafe quality....the problem is on Friday and Saturday night the inlfux of kids is rediculous.  I have been asked if I want to buy drugs, just walking by.  Groups of gangsta looking kids meander out front, start fights, and many are obviously under 18. There are usually cop cars in the parking lot on Fri-Sat nights because of the groups that hang out out side of Oasis and Aladdin. I don't know the law, but you can't buy cigarettes if your under 18....don't know about shisha....but most of the kids are very young looking.  The crowds and the kind of people that come in on these busy nights, are obnoxious!!  I only go to Fairouz, where the clientel are much more mature and respectful....and no one asks me if I want to buy  "a dub".
