Based on other reviews, there seems to be a big discrepancy between the atmosphere of this place and the food.  I've only had carry-out from here, so my review is based on the food only. Some of the items are very good, while others are pretty average.  Prices overall are outstanding and you get a ton of food for what you pay, so that is one huge positive.  I ordered the traditional mazza platter which had a pretty extensive variety of appetizers.  Hummus wasn't very good and the baba had an odd smoked taste to it.  I would actually say it tasted like tobacco smoke, which may or not have been from the hookahs that apparently are omnipresent here.  The kibbeh and fattoush were both great.Kabobs seem to be overcooked and underflavored, overall.  The rice that comes with them is very good, however.  Of all the items I tried, I'd say my favorite part about the meal was the bread and the pomegranate molasses dressing on the fattoush, though I didn't really detect much molasses.Overall, the food was very decent for the price paid.  It sounds like it could be a cool place to eat in, but the description I've heard of the crowds here make me think I'd be best to stick with carry-out.

Its funny as soon as I got out of college I wanted to go to a hookah bar. The closest one I knew of at the time was the Oasis Cafe out by NOVA Alexandria campus. It was quite a bit of a hike. Then this place opened and it was only a five minute drive. I rejoiced and told my cronies. Now some time has passed and I realize that I have been coming to this place for over two years now. Every Wednesday evening, four of us gather for food and hookah. And yes almost every Wednesday for two years. Onto the food. All considering of how much food you get, its a great deal. For less than ten dollars you can get one of their platters which includes a variety of meats: lamb, beef or chicken. On the side you get a very fresh salad, rice and side of flat bread. If you are just in the mood for appetizers, I suggest the Hummus special; it warm hummus with a little pool of olive oil sprinkled with shredded lamb. If you are with a big group of hungry people get a platter. Its everything under the sun and delicious. The main attraction to this place is of course, the hookahs. They have a wonderful collection of flavors. Our groups favorites are double apple and strawberry. Thankfully they are now using the plastic tips on the hoses for sanitary purposes. Some places still don't. I apologize to Leila S. for her bad experiences but I have yet to have any issues. They still do have outdoor seating, its just not allowed to spread in front of the other businesses. Also one time I forgot to pay and the staff were totally cool with it and they just let me pay the next time I was there. Of course, they knew we'd be back next week.

don't you hate it when you're starving and the food you end up eating sucks serious donkey dick? it was a fucking gorgeous day today so a coworker and i decided to get out for an hour and grab a quick bite to eat somewhere semi-close. it was a toss up between this joint and a Chinee spot. we were real close to going w/ the latter but my dumb ass fucked it up since i wanted something 'healthy' and non-greasy.we decide to split the baba ghanoush (sp?) and pita pocket bread that came w/ it.  the ghanoush was absolutely tasteless. and the bread was dry and over toasted. not a good start.my entree was the lamb kabob w/ rice and salad. everything came out very quick. but what really did it for me was the lamb. what a massive disappointment. a pathetically small portion of meat extremely overcooked. also, the fact that it came out so fast i knew it must've just been reheated in an oven of some sort. and when i took a bite it took forever to chew through a piece. on a good note, at least there was absolutely no chewy fat on it. as for the rest, the rice was standard basmati and cooked just right, thankfully, and the salad was actually pretty decent.they do have hookah and shisha there, which is kewl. i think this would be a good spot just to hang out for a puff and chill... but as for the food, absolutely nothing special. won't be back.

This hole in the wall remains my favorite metro area restaurant. If I lived within walking distance, I'd struggle not to eat here at least once a day. It's got authentic atmosphere. Packed with cabbies and sons of diplomats, you won't hear much English, no less on the foreign-language Al-Jazeera broadcast which is playing 24/7 unless someone wants to see a football (soccer) game. The place was actually recommended to me by a cabbie when I asked about hookah joints; I of course subsequently saw him there. Try the fattet lamb, or, really, anything - nobody I know has gotten a less-than-delicious dish there. Top-notch food, unbelievable bread. Go at 1 in the morning, and get some shisha to go with. I wish I saw it in its heyday as per Leila. This restaurant is poorly understood. Other yelpers find the service unfriendly, but I think this is because the staff don't even know enough English to regularly subtitle their daily specials. I just order a pot of tea with my hummous special appetizer and fattet lamb and trust them with my gastronomic life. Sometimes it feels like it's the only thing in the region open past 9 PM!Angela decries the lack of vegetarian options, and the menu is indeed almost entirely meat-based, but try the Mazzeh Platter (spelling? maybe I got the name wrong...) for two, the one with 15 or so appetizers - I'm struggling to think of more than one of the things on the platter that obviously has meat. My carnivore self and carnivore friends find this platter good enough to mostly forgo meat for a sitting. I'm sure that special orders like vegetarian preferences are hard to figure out, considering the waitstaff have a poor grasp of English. It does, however, feel like they care about having you back, unlike American chains with McJobs. The service might not be top-notch, but if it's not because they can't tell what you're asking, it's because the place is so busy you can't get a seat. The culture inside these doors is different. Kammy's point about the lecherousness is well-taken, though more than I've noticed as a male. Well, take that back. My friends and I have inadvertently taken advantage of Persians' famed attention to physical appearance when going out. Props to a fiancee who accepts that a wandering eye is uncontrollably part and parcel of my evolutionary makeup.Reviews for this place seem real hot-and-cold. I recommend you give it a try. Sadly, perhaps give it your first try while chaperoned.Fiancee edit on the lecherousness: to avoid a lecherous stare, try going earlier. Lunch is great, even an early dinner. If you go out at ten on a Friday, and you have XX chromosomes, you're going to catch someone's eye no matter where you go. Double-bonus for those with weak lungs: get there early and get a prime patio spot; you could cut the "air" inside with a knife (or perhaps a hookah tongs).

Two huge platters of delicious Lebanese quickly came out.  Although the menu had said that each platter were meant for two, it could have easily fed a small wedding...or three hungry Yelpers.  And sorry, no I don't know what the name of the platters are - but if you go up to the counter, the paper menu is taped on the cash register and it's the "Platters for 2", it was the first and last platter. But let me set the scene up for you.  3 hungry Yelpers decide to head to Lebnan Zaman for lunch.  While the location was a little disillusioning (a sad lonely mini-stripmall), and the inside was a little cold (literally, I was freezing), we bravely marched up to the register to place our orders.  After a bit of conferring, we decided upon the two aforementioned platters.  However, a language barrier arose when we tried to pay.  Two of us had credit cards and only one had cash.  Although we saw a credit card machine by the register...we weren't allowed to pay by card.  Perhaps the machine was broken?  Couldn't be 100% sure.  We were so thrown and confused by the whole credit thing that we even forgot to order drinks.  D'oh!We sit down at one of the little tables and before we could even begin the usual "OMG, I'm so hungry" chant that Yelpers do when food is in the works, the first huge appetizer platter comes out, ladened with...well, I couldn't even begin to tell you what, but it looked like a dozen various dips, hummuses, couscous, tomato and cucumber salads, relishes and a nice big basket of delicious pita!  Oooh...it was so good!  Besides grunting, the majority of the conversation went something like this:Yelper 1: OMG, this is sooooo good...Yelper 2: Which one did you just eat?  OMG - that *IS* good!Yelper 3: No no...you guys gotta try this one...Yelper 2: OMG, that is sooooo good...Yelper 1: No no...this one!  Try this one...You sort of get the idea.  Before we were even half way done with the first platter, the second platter of delicious hot yummies came out...and the conversation again turned into grunts and proclamations of how good the various items were.  DELICIOUS!I'm told that this place turns into a hooka-club at night, but during the day, especially for lunch, this place is delicious and divine.  More importantly, the food comes out at the speed of light!  Just a bit of warning, however - during the day, it is rather a "carry out" type of atmosphere.  So once your food is brought to  you, there really isn't any additional service - no one checks to make sure that you're OK, or that you need anything else...you are definitely on your own...but that's OK...it saves you a grunt or two.don't you hate it when you're starving and the food you end up eating sucks serious donkey dick? it was a fucking gorgeous day today so a coworker and i decided to get out for an hour and grab a quick bite to eat somewhere semi-close. it was a toss up between this joint and a Chinee spot. we were real close to going w/ the latter but my dumb ass fucked it up since i wanted something 'healthy' and non-greasy.we decide to split the baba ghanoush (sp?) and pita pocket bread that came w/ it.  the ghanoush was absolutely tasteless. and the bread was dry and over toasted. not a good start.my entree was the lamb kabob w/ rice and salad. everything came out very quick. but what really did it for me was the lamb. what a massive disappointment. a pathetically small portion of meat extremely overcooked. also, the fact that it came out so fast i knew it must've just been reheated in an oven of some sort. and when i took a bite it took forever to chew through a piece. on a good note, at least there was absolutely no chewy fat on it. as for the rest, the rice was standard basmati and cooked just right, thankfully, and the salad was actually pretty decent.they do have hookah and shisha there, which is kewl. i think this would be a good spot just to hang out for a puff and chill... but as for the food, absolutely nothing special. won't be back.Honestly, all these people complaining about the food probably don't know why 90% of the kids go to a hookah bar: FOR THE HOOKAH.Out of probably the 30 times I've gone to a hookah bar, almost never have I asked for food, and I've never expected it to be good. Most hookah bars/cafes are just meeting points or actual cafes in the sense that you loiter and chit-chat.Here, however, I can actually rate the service and hookah itself~The hookah wasn't terrible. We got a mango one and a double apple one. The mango hookah wasn't bad (it tasted like other fruits mixed in) and the double apple tasted almost exactly like licorice (which I don't mind). I also didn't mind that it was only $10 or $12!! How cheap! The service was fast, but not completely polite. Not impolite, however. Just quick and business like.I went with my two (lesbian and white) friends and definitely felt out of place. Next to us were two very old men playing chess, across the room was a bunch of 20-somethings staring at us, and outside were an obnoxious group of tools hitting on women walking by. All of them were Middle Eastern, and I'm not generalising. I feel like the crowd it attracts isn't your average NoVA hookah bar go-er (20 or so and very white, hahaha). We also went with my boyfriend, who at the time was underage. They did not ask for an ID when he ordered for us, which I didn't mind (how many times had I gone to a hookah bar "illegally"?) but might annoy some. I also didn't like that I had to ask for an ash tray, but that's such a minor complaint, it's almost not worth mentioning. If I could sum this cafe in a few words, it would be calm, authentic, and average. Not a terrible place to spend an hour watching TV with friends while smoking some fine hookah while waiting for something, but not a final destination or for dinner or a meal. I would recommend it!Although the atmosphere may be intimidating for some, the food is INCREDIBLE. Very authentic falafels and other dishes. Some are a bit dry, but you can ask for extra tahini sauce and it makes it perfect. I would also recommend the platters. The increased their prices so its a bit pricey now, but I always try to stop by when in Tysons.  Service is decent, but much better when they are not too busy. Its a pretty casual atmosphere, but many people do smoke sheesha during the day, so you may want to just get take out if you are sensitive to smoke. My friend organized a Lebnan Zaman get together, and she was going to order the food ahead of time.   So i looked over the menu and finally decided on the kafta kabob... thats right my friends... i ordered lamb!  And it was so good!    Slightly overcooked and a little dry (hence the four stars) but the flavors were awesome.  It came with a huge pile of salad and rice that i didn't come anywhere close to finishing!  It was so good. The best part is definitely the bread though.  Its not the greatest "kabob bread" (hard to wrap around it) but get the hummus and garlic spread stuff as a side to dip in... definitely great.   I would eat that again and again. Overall, i enjoyed my lebnan zaman experience and would not be opposed to another visit :)

Tired of the expensive and fancy sheisha lounges that have been popping up all over the area?  My friends and I stumbled across this chill no-frills sheisha bar located just outside of Tyson's Corner.  Lebnan offers a more traditional approach to hookah bars.  People hanging out, playing cards and just engaged in leisure conversation.  It tends to get a little crowded when the weather is nice outside and groups tend to spill out onto the outdoor patio.   Every week my friends and I head on over to Lebnan Zaman for some great lebanese food and to smoke some Hookah.  Open till about 2 am on weekdays and 4 am on weekends it serves as a great place for local suburbanites to eat, relax, and hang out without going all the way into the city.  Even if you don't smoke, I strongly recommend you stop by for the food which large plates of falafel and shawarma or if you're looking for a really good deal you can always get a big basket of fries for $2.50.   My personal favorite is an order of the "special hummus" (its hummus with lamb and beef shawarma sprinkled on top) its absolutely heaven.
