The chicken tawook wrap is amazing, as is the lentil soup. Save room for the baklava.

The falafel is amazing, it's what I get almost exclusively. They have lots of vegan and vegetarian items as well as plenty of meaty things for the omnivores. My boyfriend enjoyed the rosemary bread and chicken kebabs. I also like the hummus - the hummus plate in itself is a meal. (You can also buy containers of it in their little middle eastern market section). I hear they have hookah/bellydancing night here sometimes? Must investigate.

I've driven by Azar's in Ghent many times and always kinda dismissed it for some reason.  Last night we decided to give it a try.  The Azar family is Lebanese, so this isn't your traditional gyros and Greek food.  This is middle eastern food.  Kebabs, schwarma, mansaaf, hummus, tabouleh, kibbi, etc.  I've been dying for good hummus.  The hummus plate was $5.95, a little much, but two scoops of hummus and pita with olives, pickles, tomatoes and pinenuts.  The hummus was good, although I prefer mine with a little extra lemon juice.  We also had an order of kibbi and tabouleh, kibbi was ok, the tabouleh was really good.I ordered the lamb kebab and the BF ordered the mansaaf with grilled chix.  The lamb kebab plate was two big skewers of lamb and one of grilled veggies, a side of saffrom basamati rice and hummus.  For $14.95, a great deal and lots of food.  the BF's mansaaf was great, a rice dish with ground lamb and grilled chicken.  His came with a Greek salad and a side of tazitki.  It was super tasty.Azar's also has a little food market with middle eastern goodies.  I'll be back.

I drove by this place for two years, then I go back down to good old Norfolk to visit a friend and she suggests Azar's.  Really good idea.  I enjoyed the Lebanese food and there is plenty to choose from if you're a vegetarian or vegan.  I had the lentil soup (a different spin on my favorite Greek soup, but it was pretty good) and half of a hummus wrap thing.  I really enjoyed it.  I will definitely be back when I head down that way again.  I'll be sure to make it a Saturday night to check out the hookah/bellydancing night (9pm every Saturday according to our server). The market was also good and they had a little bakery type thing, too.  Don't pass this gem by!

Delicious. A few of us went there for dinner today after work. This is the first time I've eaten at a Greek Restaurant. I've picked out take out at the greek deli at the Public Market in Emeryville. It was hard to decide because everything sounded good. I ended up ordering the combination kabobs with salmon and beef kabobs with basmati rice, hummus and pita bread. We ended up sharing our dishes. We shared the veggie platter and the By George Pizza. The By George Pizza had eggplant, roasted peppers, mozarella and feta cheese. It was delicious. The veggie platter was also good but I could not remember all the items on there. We took three ugly ducklings with us to go. You'll have to go there to find out what it was and how yummy it tasted.

The kebab plates are amazing. Everything is fresh and flavorful. I've never had an entree here that I didn't enjoy.

Azar's is great!  They have a wide array of options to tempt vegetarians and omnivores alike.  They even specify right on the menu which options are vegetarian, and which options are vegan!  This is really a treat if you're watching your intake of animal products.I cannot recommend the spanakopita enough.  Spanakopita is a pastry stuffed with feta cheese, spinach, and sauteed onions.  It's unbelievably tasty, and with four pastries, it is a perfect sized appetizer to split between two people. For the main dish, I had the baba ghanouj wrap, which was quite good.  My husband had a chicken wrap (not sure exactly what it was) that was listed as the customers' favorite, and he scarfed it down, so it must have been tasty!  You get a small helping of hummus with each wrap, which was a nice surprise.I will definitely go back to Azar's.  The prices are reasonable and the food is great.  I have no complaints at all.
