This is a small hookah lounge with a wide variety of both washed and unwashed shisha on their in house menu.  They've got Nakhla (Egypt) in flavors from Chocolate-Mint to Tropicana for $8.00 and many other varieties and flavors from other regions.  If you join the VIP Membership, get $1.00 off your hookah session, 15% off retail items and a free sample of the "hookah of the month".  There's also an early bird special, $2.00 off your session before 7pm.

I was surprised to find a dedicated hookah bar on this part of Franklin Street.  I was even more surprised to find the place manned by two good ol' boys.  I was even more surprised (are we getting into "shocked" territory yet?) to realize that they really know and care about the business of making good hookah (hookahness?  hookahnity?  How does one develop the noun "hookah?").  They loved talking about what they do here and why its better than everywhere else, and I have to say, I'm impressed. The menu is also huge, with dozens of flavors and variations, as well as a very respectable beer list.  The atmosphere is well-developed, if a bit spartan than similar establishments, but that's a very minor thing.  This is definitely a good place to come if you like hookah, or even if you're just interested in it.

What's a college town without its Hookah shop? Irvine, perhaps?Anyway, Hookah Bliss completes the coolness that is Franklin, and they have a really impressive selection of shisha for you to try. Blackberry shisha with Chimay Ale? Sign me up. Comfy lounge area for you to enjoy the experience, and I appreciate the absence of hippie decor that usually accompanies most joints of this kind, I love me some hippie vibe but in the case, I feel the lack of it contributes to the authenticity of the bar. Oh, and I love that Yelp actually has a category for hookah bars.

I've been a regular at the Bliss for a little over a year now -- it's one of my favorite places to chill in the Triangle. Adam, the owner, is a serious hookah aficionado, and it shows in the quality of shisha, the decent prices, and level of knowledge displayed by his employees. But honestly, the icing on top is the beer list.  There are very few places in the Triangle whose beer list rivals this one.  Fantastic Belgian stand-bys like Chimay and Delirium Tremens are always on the list, as are a decent selection of ciders and lambics, with a constant rotation of other interesting brews from around the world. As a Russian major, nothing warmed my heart more than when Adam started carrying Baltika No. 9, my favorite Russian pilsner. If you've never tried hookah before, definitely check out the Bliss -- Adam or one of the guys or gals on staff will set you up with something great.
