i guess you could call this place "expensive bu headshop",but sugar daddys just sounds better.now dont get me wrong, i went to school in albany, you know NEW Amsterdam, the streets are paved with bums and the cost of living way cheaper, where was i going with this, ah yes, burning the day away at school.anyway, back to sugar daddys, its good for the scope of the area, if you have money to be around there, you have money to waste at this place .however, if your slide breaks you can get a cheapie here. now on the flip, say if you had the means, you could go to the place in the arsenal mall that sells fake handbags, glass and lottery tickets(the selection is not a vast), its conveniently located right next to the dmv, it will give you some time to kill and things to do with your new drivers license.anyway, i got a student discount at the 3 places on jay st in albany, not so much at daddys

I really hate this store! But where else is there to go for pipes. They know that they are the only store with any type of selection so they make the prices ridiculously high. I went in there the other day to get a water pipe and some kid was there who was completely condescending and rude. When I asked him what was the best price he could do for a particular piece he punched some numbers into his calculator and rattled off some lame number. All he did was take 30% off and then tell me he couldn't do any better than that. His negotiating skills were non existent. He definitely thought he was hot shit. And that I should "shop around". But the only other option is to drive an hour to get a piece. Anyone who gives this place a good rating doesn't know what a good headshop is.

I'm only giving this five stars because Sugar Daddy's is Boston's only functioning head shop---The Hempest on Newbury is an overpriced fashion boutique out of Woody Harrelson's wet dreams. Sugar Daddy's offers some very high quality glass, but it comes at a cost---this is unquestionably the most expensive smoke shop I've seen in the country. But the staff does their best to make prices manageable, and they'll usually give you quite a discount off the marked price. Ask for Jen when you go in---she's a cool chick and will help make your purchase affordable. Oh, and don't forget to buy some tobacco for your "water pipe"

As much as everyone talks crap about this place, I really haven't had any problems either. Yeah it's a little overpriced but its the best place in town, and has some AWESOME glass.People also complain about the staff, but every time I go in there they are very-friendly and always help me out as soon as I need it, and leave me alone til I'm ready and done browsing. Very comfortable situation. If I;'m going to go buy a heavy duty piece I might head up to NH for something cheaper, but for in Boston they got everything a guy could want and more.

Great pieces + terrible prices = Sugar Daddy's. The prices in here are scary. That having been said, they are easily negotiable. Example: I wanted something priced at $310 and after a protracted negotiation (and an agreement to pay in cash) the item was mine for $160. Now to give you an idea how overpriced this place is, the item would have sold for about $140 at a normal smoke shop. The old guy who work here and the chick are both cool; but, there is also another kid who works here now who is a wise ass -- just don't indulge him, otherwise you'll be in for some gypsy hippie story about learning to blow glass in Eugene Oregon blah, blah, blah...NOTE- If you smoke Hookah's (nargiles, waterpipes etc.) DO NOT buy items here. Go to Arax market in Watertown. It is a Middle Eastern market with authentic coals, shisha, etc -- much better products and much better price.

I give this a 2 star for hookah and a 3 star for everything else. So I am in a good mood so I am giving this place 3 stars.Hookah wise this place was lame, they had one type of charcoal, a couple types of shisha and no tongs. I was impressed by their completely hand-blown glass hookah and that they had hookah cleaner... it strangely seems hard to come by that. They had about a dozen boring hookahs out of reach to buy.The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, after expressing my concern about cloves becoming illegal, the guy explained to me how companies are getting around the ban. They had a nice selection of legal cloves and recommended what would be the best bet for me now that they have changed. I haven't really priced "water pipes", so I can't tell you if they are overpriced. I did notice a pipe I liked and thought about getting until I saw the price of $60. I'll stick with my old buddy thanks. They do have a large selection and if I feel like haggling I might come back for their pipes... but I never feel like haggling.Sure, the prices of the "water pipes" might sometimes give you sticker shock, but if you express some concern over the cost, they automatically offer you a discount. I understand these are not really "discounts" and actually what the piece is worth, but when you see something sweet for $45 and walk out paying less than $30, who really cares? And on occasion, there are decent deals to be had (35% off sale on certain shelves, for example), but still, Sugar Daddy's is definitely a bit overpriced. I would suggest buying your basic wares here, and saving your more extravagant purchases for another time and place. The staff is really nice and laid back (obviously, I suppose). Just don't make ridiculous, tired jokes about how "it's not really for tobacco" because no one likes a person like that.Nothing to write home about, but as one of Boston's few head shops, it serves its purpose. I'm still a little shocked that this is one of so few like shops because Boston is the *highest* concentration of admitted weed smokers in the entire country. We gets down. Still, even with pot decriminalized here, it's still like a dirty secret or something. Go figure.Sugar Daddy's has a good selection and your usual earthy crunchers working there, obviously baked as shit. The store is like a big converted apartment living room with bay windows, standard comm. ave style. I have been to chiller, friendlier head shops and it made me want to buy something more.I got a pipe here once and it was a little small one for portability. The lady working the counter noticed a tiny crack in it and pointed it out. I think what they do here is mark up their merch and then "give you deal" on it so you think they're being really cool. For example, the little pipe was overpriced at $20, but when she went to $15 as a "favor" I was like 'sweet.' Noticing that crack she then gave it to me for $7. It wouldn't have even broken if I hadn't drunkenly smacked it on a table to clear it later that night. Oh well.

Oh well. Was fascinated by how convenient it was when I first moved to Boston for College and first took up smoking. Now we pile into the cah and travel to New Hampshire because we know better. So I had broken the downstem to my RooR Icemaster 7.0 green, and finally made my way down there again. So got the downstem and a new bowl for the RooR, and some wraps and other misc. stuff. It came to like $70? The dude was like "oh I remember you, you were the Navy guy right?" as he looked at the ink on my arms, and then he started doing something with a calculator. I jokingly asked "what, do I get a military discount or something?" And the guy looked me straight in the face and said "yup! 15%" and I saved like $15 on an already bargain tab. He actually said "thank you for your service"! That place is cool man. I've been going there since high school. I'm like 29 now. alright well I finally got myself a ROOR. It's pretty sweet - in the Roor website it's listed as the…

Have to give it a 5 because its the only real head shop in town.Pros: Glass Selection, Tobacco ProductsCons: Wise-Ass Staff, Prices ( does anyone know where to find good-priced Nag Champa in the Boston Area, please msg me)

Some of the glass pieces in here are pretty impressive but then you realize that you're in Boston and smoke shops here are oppressively expensive. If you're feeling lucky go in here and try to talk the price down as much as possible, don''t give in to the high prices. Definately a cool place to go to browse and the other things in here other than the pipes and such are cool (flavored tobacco, etc.). Worth a trip but don't let this store make you poor
