We went there with a group of 15 people for a birthday party on a Saturday night.  I normally don't write reviews, but I was so impressed with the service that I had to write this.  We had two servers, Kiana and Sophie, that took care of us like we were in their homes.  We never wanted for anything and they called every one of us by name.  I have truly never had this kind of service in a big group ever.  The food was excellent and the atmosphere was awesome.  The evening got a little pricey, so be prepared for that.

This is a Persian/Middle eastern restaurant/club kind of place. I'm Persian myslef, and I can tell you that the general atmosphere in this place is very like parties in Iran. I felt so much at home! Any way, the food is decent. To be honest it's not the best Persian food you can get elsewhere (although being a visitor to Atlanta for 3 days, I've not checked any other Persian restaurant here. But you can definitely get better Persian food in California), but the food is definitely OK. I can give it an 7 out of 10. I tried their Divan salad with shish kebob, and "kashk bademjan", which was delicious. Be warned that it is a tiny bit overpriced for the food (although this is the norm for Persian food, and being a student, a $20 meal could be somehow pricey); especially the hooka was overpriced. They charged $15 for hooka, although it was well made and lasted for a long time. The pomegranate martini was really good by the way. The most exciting thing about this place is the general Persian party mood however. Apparently it is OK for people to start dancing with the loud disco type music, and they even bring some Iranian musicians to play live music. In fact, our hostess "Kiana" let us know about people dancing downstairs, as she thought we might be interested in joining them. By the way, the place gets very crowded, so it's better if you can call in advance and reserve some seats. As for the parking, you can either park on the street or use their valet parking. Although there are signs all over the street warning not to park in the street or else your car gets towed. I had to park in another street and walk some 5 minutes. The owners are very nice and hospitable people. I mentioned to them that I'm new to Atlanta, and they gave us some special care and attention!

I celebrated my last birthday at Divan and my party and I enjoyed ourselves to the maximum.  It was everyone's first time there and first time doing Hookah.  I am a non-smoker, but enjoyed the experience and the Hookah flavors.  The restaurant is in a cool little house on Piedmont and the entire vibe when you walk in is jut Funky (meaning good).  We were upstairs and had our own space to spread out.  The lamb was delicious, the pom martini's were the business and the whole evening was all in all fun.  I'd go back anytime.

Divan is divine. Really. I've been twice. Once on a busy Friday night and again this past Sunday. Two totally different experiences, but I loved both and the fit the mood and mindset I was in. On that Friday, feeling full from dining at Aquanox a couple of blocks away, a friend and I decided to check out Divan for Hookah and after dinner drinks. It was what the doctor ordered. We did have to wait quite a bit of time for a table (a smidge too long) and there wasn't much space to wait in, but once we got the Hookah going I soon forgot about the wait. We met an interesting "met on craigslist" couple who found Divan a good (third or fourth?) date spot. The music was good and refreshingly different from the typical Friday night mix you'd get in a club. The craigslist couple actually found room to dance, and gave the rest of us some Dancing With the Stars type entertainment. I didn't have food, other than nibbling on some hummus, but found it impressive that they had a beer another friend of mine claims is hard to find (Chimay) on their drink menu. This was also my first experience with Hookah..and yes I'm hooked. This past Sunday I was feeling a little less festive. In fact, I hadn't been out the house all day! The same friend dialed me up and said to meet him back at Divan. We sat outside enjoying the park-like ambiance and sipping on wine. No Hookah for me this time, but he took advantage of the opportunity. I ordered the crab-croquettes (excellent) and he had the duck leg. Both were tasty. We also had the pita pizza...good, but I forgot I'm not a big feta cheese fan. Next time I'm going for an entree. Oh yes, there will definitely be a next time at Divan. Anyplace that can meet my many moods is on my short list of hotspots.

I recently went back to Divan, which also boasts itself to be a late night spot, and it was 1am, the lot wasn't crowded, the bar tender was non-existant, and they wanted to seat us outside (it was freezing) because they may have already cleaned up, up-stairs. We left without eating. BIG DISSAPOINTMENT.  I've found a real turkish place with belly dancers, I'm going there next saturday.

We went there for drinks after a dinner in Buckhead.  We had the vanilla martini and pomegranate martini, which were both excellent.  We did the white peach hookah which was very smooth and I didn't even think it was coming out until you exhale.  I'd definitely recommend and next time will go for dinner because lamb chops on the table next to us looked amazing!

So I went here for a "group" event, and was actually kind of disappointed with the place. We get there, and were seated downstairs, in an area that was WAY too small for our group. Me and some of the others ventured upstairs to see if we could get a bit more room, and it was a bit nicer upstairs, because their were seperate rooms off to the side which were a bit roomier. We did the hookah as well, we tried the Margarita one, I'm not much of a smoker, but nonetheless it was a neat experience. I think overall, the disappointment I had was because I expected it to be more spacious and expected their to be more of a moroccan theme to it (ie- belly dancers, pillows/loungers to sit on, etc etc).....

Divan is so much fun! I went for a birthday party and we were seated in one of the private upstairs rooms. We received stellar service and everything seemed top-notch. The food was tasty although I'm not sure if it was because the food is truly good or because of my mood (buzzed from alcohol and, perhaps, the hookah). I really love the jasmine hookah--I've tried 4 or 5 and it's the best. Something about hookah, it's not illegal, but it feels so wrong--in a really, really good way. Go for half-price hookah on Friday! Drinks are a little spendy but not bad for Buckhead. Good date spot.

Though, Divan shares the distinction of being one of the few Hookah Lounges in Atlanta - it isn't one of the best solely for lack of competition. Its really a quality spot, on par with Hookah Lounges you'd find in other major cities. The staff is always nice, and the decorum is spot on whether its for a romantic evening or social gathering of friends. The food is good, the seating is comfortable - and of course the prime reason to go  - the Hookah is flavorful and smooth. Haven't been to this place nearly enough, but each time is a pleasure.

I stopped by here after reading positive reviews on yelp and was definitely pleased.  I actually got a drink and the duck confit at the bar and was very impressed with both.  The duck was perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious.  Coming from NYC, I was thrilled to find out there's a hookah bar so close to my place.  Great find!  Especially for groups.

Awesome place, but a bit overpriced.  We didn't have drinks, just dinner and hookah, and everything was good.  We ordered and enjoyed the blueberry hookah (WARNING: they will charge you for the "premium" by default.  I thought we were getting the $15 blueberry, but apparently there's a $20 blueberry as well, which they gave us without asking which one we wanted.  Each person in your party must buy $15 worth of food and drinks to smoke a hookah as well.).  I had the Divan salad with chicken kebab, and I don't often find myself being wowed by a salad, but I was.  The chicken kebab was fantastic, juicy, flavorful, perfect.  This is how you make chicken, the blandest of meats, delicious.  The salad dressing was yummy.  The toppings were fresh and plentiful.  The atmosphere was great, though the music might try your nerves after the first hour.  If I lived in Atlanta this would be the kind of place I'd bring out-of-town visitors.  Or dates.Added bonus: free valet parking.

Mmmm...hookah...how can you go wrong with hookah? We got the double apple. Yum.I started off drinking my usual vodka tonics, but upon realizing there was cava on the menu, I promptly rectified my mistake! They put a ton of cherries in the glass, a little too much, but still a nice touch. Even if I can't digest em, they taste good.Service was a little on the slow side but for some reason they only charged us for 1 drinks when we had a few plus the hookah, so really, I am not complaining.

A nice alternative to taking friends to a crowded, noisy bar. I was really addicted to going to smoking lounges (hookah bars, cigar bars, etc.) when I was out in California last year and I was delighted that the craze has somewhat traveled this way. Divan is cool, because private rooms and lounging areas are tucked away into the many rooms on 2 different levels of the funky old house on Piedmont. The patio and bar area are small but accommodating. I quickly fell in love with the pomegranate martinis they serve here, because they infuse the vodka naturally with pomegranate on site. It's tasty.  The food is okay, and the desserts are pretty decent but the best part is sharing a giant hookah with your party. Apple/vanilla was my favorite, but everyone else was raving over the strawberry/rose. You can pick your own flavor combinations from a long list in the menu, and it is also one of the most lengthy hookah flavor lists I've seen in Atlanta, incidentally. So pull up some red and purple floor cushions, soak up the low-lit ambiance of the hazy smoke-filled house and feel like for maybe 1 minute that smoking is kind of cool. *Note: I have fun doing this, but do not smoke cigarettes or anything of the like - so don't let the whole smoking thing turn you off, this is completely different and fabulous.

Make a reservation! Do it. You will be angry at yourself if you don't.I had to get that out of the way.So Divan is great because it has hookah. I like me some hookah. It's a terrible habit and all, but I would hope a monthly or bi-monthly hit won't give me smoker's lung. A plus about their hookah as opposed to Cafe Istanbul's is they give each smoker a plastic mouthpiece to use while taking his/her turn. Nice.Their hummus is good, and huge. My friend loves their potatoes. They're a bit like home fries. Besides that, I'm lost on the food side. This place has an awesome vibe. A broad range of people, many of whom are from the Eastern half of the globe. The downstairs area, which is a living room, is great for people watching. There's also a small bar area, where people hang out if waiting for a table. We once waited in that bar area for over an hour. Then we left. Argh. Thus the "make a reservation."Early bird perk: half-price hookah daily from 6:30 to 7:30. That's half-off of $15 (or $20 if you want the classier tobacco). P.S.: take a couple dollars cash - it's valet.

I went on a late Thursday night and had the best time. It was my first experience with hookah. i was very excited. We arrived right before the kitchen was closing. Our waiter came by as soon as we sat down to let us know ,so we would get everything we wanted to order. I had the chicken kabobs ,and my boyfriend had the scallops. The chicken was very nicely charred and had a good flavor. The basmati rice and sauce was nice. I really enjoyed the pomegranate seeds that were on top of the rice. Oh my, the scallops were amazing! So good! The atmosphere is very pretty and romantic. I like the option of either sitting on couches or at tables. We had the mint chocolate hookah which was good. The service was just out of sight. Everyone, the hostess, waiter, and valet were all really nice and knew how to do their job right! I was very impressed.

Aight.....so this is essentially a house full of people getting liquored and "hookahed" up!  That's what I thought when I first walked in to meet some friends.  They, and everyone else in the place, were laid out on the daybeds lookin' like the cast of "Half-Baked."Not long after arriving I joined the 'cast.'  This is a very relaxing place.  The hookah was flavorful but not overwhelming.  Service was good and the food and drink were on point.  I had the pomegranate martini (I typically don't do martinis) and the hummus.  Both were tasty.

Was pleasantly surprised the night I went.  Expected the typical whack-a$$ Buckhead crowd but it was more like people from distant...er....lands....where hookah is....indigenous  :)  A calming experience with interesting conversation between tables/across cultures.  Authentic music, food was good, drinks were better, desert was dee-lish!  Though cigs caused my Dad to stroke-out and lung cancer took my grandpappy, on that night I took a break from the anti-smoking campaign.  Somehow smoking tobacco mixed with fruit and flower infused molasses from a water pipe seemed safe.  Nuh?????  Woke up the next day, lungs wailing.  Bronchitis followed.  Will never smoke again but would return to eat, drink, chat and breathe fragrant secondhand smoke

I gotta say I was a little disappointed in Divan.  They have some little couch areas, but we didn't get to sit in one.  The music was too loud to hear each other and the waitress.  The food was just alright.  But the spicy potatoes were awesome. We went on a Friday night, come to find out to get a Hooka, each person in your party has to order a $15 minimum, which was really no problem, but its just nice to be aware of.Our waitress got slower and slower as the night went on.  All in all, not my favorite place.

ATMOSPHERE: Dimly lit. Ethnic music. 1st floor - open area with couches and coffee tables. This set up makes it good for mingling and it's comfy! There's also a bar with a flat screen playing foreign music videos.  2nd floor - more traditional dining setting with tables and chairs. I've been here on Monday night (7:30pm) and it's pretty empty. I've also been here Thursday night (10:30pm) and it's packed! FOOD: Lots of veggie options!  Ordered a lot of the small plates:1. Mushroom spanoptika - 3 triangles with minty yogurt sauce. Wasn't very impressed. 2. Falafel - ~12 balls, very crispy on the outside with a garlic yogurt sauce. Very good!3. Marinated goat cheese - herbed goat cheese topped with a honey sauce with 5- 5x2 paper thin crackers. Nice combo. Yummmy!4. Spiced potatoes - comes with harissa (spicy red pepper sauce), potatoes seemed undercooked. Seemed over spiced like they just dumped a ton of chili powder on the potatoes and I really couldn't taste the rosemary at all. My least favorite of all of them. 5. Eggplant dish - topped with crispy onions with pita bread, which was over toasted and kind of hard.  Even with the very crispy pita, this was very good though! My favorite of all the dishes.6. Hookah - double apple - pretty good. Not a huge fan of hookah though. PARKING: Complimentary valet but if you don't have cash or if the valet is full then you can park at the Wolf Camera down the street (on the same side as Divan).PERKS: Mondays they have a special - 1 appetizer, kabob entree, 1 dessert for $35 (something like that).  BTW - no wireless access here just in case you were wondering. Reservations can be made at http://OpenTable.com - yay, for 100 points!SERVICE: Very good. Forgot cash for the valet so our waitress gave us a couple of dollars and we gave her a couple for extra tip without any problems. CONCLUSION: Nice and unique place with good food! Great hang out place. I wish they didn't do valet.... the parking lot is so small!  Will be back again!

So we went back for a second try and again everything was stellar.  The tilapia is great as are the mushroom spanakopita.  We enjoyed the hookah and the drinks tasted great.  We never asked for top shelf vodka but when we got the ticket we found we had been given top shelf vodka.  Just be aware that you need to ask for what you want.  Also, the 4 is only because the drinks are expensive overall even when accurately charged.  But it is Buckhead so that, along with a 9% sales tax, is to be expected.Service was excellent.  Again, as was said on here earlier, reservations are a fantastic idea. Ok the food was good, the hookah was great and so were the drinks but who charges the same amount…

I just love this place!  The atmosphere is exotic and the food is amazing!  I typically get the Divan salad or the Chicken Kabob and the Chambord Dark Chocolate Mousse is a MUST, just to die for!  I real reason why I spend so much time at Divan is the Hookah!  Hands down, Divan has the BEST hookah in Atlanta.  They serve Starbuzz tabacco, which is WORTH the extra $5 dollars.  All of the waiters/waitresses are willing to please; they often add ice water to the base (to allow the smoke to be smoother and thicker) which most places will not do for a customer.  The bartenders are always sweet.  Be sure to RSVP on weekends, as the wait could be 1+ hour.  **A side note about the "parking" - the Valet is just horrible... it is "free" but they are rude to you if you don't give them at least $5 dollars AND they always bring my car around with the parking brake ON- but I won't discount Divan for that..they pay for the service**

Very friendly service from the hostess to the server. We were given choice of inside/outside for seating, but chose inside on hostess recommendation for the atmosphere. Lamb kabob was awesome!  Other dishes of chicken, scallops and mezza platter were all very good. Turkish beer was cold and delicious. Seating was a bit uncomfortable if you're tall. Server was very attentive. Be sure to try the warm tarragon chocolate cake-YUMMY!

Good reviews from me... was a really fun time.My trip to Divan was pleasing, the place really was fun and the staff was very warm... from the reviews here i tried the Pom martini and yes it was very nice! I like! Like Reza said, the Kabab, was not the best ever, it was good, but there is for sure better Kabab out there (Perspolis Sandy Springs)... Anyhoo, I enjoyed the experience so much I decided to get my OWN hookah, so... A few days after this I went out to find a place that sells them in my area if you're a hookah lover then check out The Pipeline in marietta ( they had more hookah flavors than Divan)... ALSO... lol... there's a new hookah place in Marietta called Pyrimids if you're a fan of hookah and would like to try a new place. Anyways they have some so so food from Palestine I believe... but very hospitable peopleAnd there you go! that's all folks!

It's sad that there isn't more of a selection of hookah bars in Atlanta, but if since you have to settle for this place, it isn't that bad. Sheesha is pretty expensive here, but the food is reasonably priced and pretty good so that is the trade off. There are many rooms to choose from, each with their own flair. It adds to the lounge atmosphere, but doesn't go over the top in pretentiousness.I used to love hookah bars until I got my own, now I can never go back. If you enjoy hookah bars, come here, relax, and see if you like it. If you do, it isn't hard to bring this sort of environment into your own dwelling.

My friend used to work in this restaurant.. that's why i decided to try it! And i liked it!!! I went the first time with some other friends and then i've been there 5 or 6 times. I have only tried the chicken kabob, every time :)  it's the best chicken kabob i have ever tried... they put cranberries inside! cranberries and rice! i didn't even know what cramberries were (my english was much worse)!! But the result is a delicious meal. The restaurant is really nice, not so big, but if you book a table usually you don't have any problem. It's one of the best restaurants to celebrate birthday, party.... because you can have your dinner and then you can dance and drink, as you were in a bar!If you like Hookah, it's definetely your restaurant (you know what? I don't like hookah :)  )

For those of you who love the sweet smell of Hooka's then this is the place for you. This is quite a fun place to hang out and grab some food. When i first went their it was with a close friend who was in town for business and she wanted to go to a place where they served Mediterranean/Persian food, so she found this place and told me let's go check it out.So we did, now its off Piedmont road and when we first pulled up to the place it just looked like a old house with a couple of tables outside, i was thinking "Oh no!!! we have come to a hole in the wall place," but once we got into the place i was quite surprised with the decent decor, couches and the upstairs dinning area. Don't get me wrong the decor is not spectacular but it isn't horrible either its decent. It wasn't to busy when we went there, i believe they had just opened a couple of months ago so i don't think too many people knew about this place just yet, we got a couch and order some food, the food was very good, when you go there you must try the Pan Seard Tilapia  it was goooooood, the appetizers are good to, but i was more focused on the hooka's because being from Indian decent this was my national pass time back home :)We order the mango flavored molasses and then sat back relaxed and smoked the night away :)It's a fun place, food is good, and drinks are always good, overall i give it a thumbs up

I went here for the first time tonight. After reading all the reviews, I am SO glad we had a 7:00 reservation for our 8-person party. We were seated right away and our service was fast and there were not very many people in here.  If its Saturday night and you go here without a reservation, just walk out and go to the Krystal down the street, because you're waiting over an hour anywhere in Buckhead that doesn't have a drive-thru.That aside, after learning you can get 1/2 price hookahs before 7:30, we got two for our party. That was more than enough. We got two flavored tobaccos and all passed the pipes around. It was still going after we got our food and finished it!My wife and I decided instead of entrees we'd get several appetizers so we got to sample a lot of different things. A very good call, I must say. While our friends' entrees did look delicious, I'm glad we decided to get the small plates, so many more flavors to try. The black bean hummus is AMAZING. The stuffed grape leaves are delicious and I really enjoyed the marinated goat cheese as well. The server was trying really hard to sell the pomegranite martinis, but since I'm a cheapskate who doesn't want to spend $10 on a drink, I did not get one. In all, my wife and I ordered a half-dozen appetizers, so were too stuffed at the end to think about dessert, though the choices sounded amazing. But, if you go here, DO get a hookah. Even if you are absolutely repulsed by cigarette or cigar smoke, this is nothing like that. Also keep in mind according to the menu, the restaurant requires each person have a $15 food/drink tab to smoke a hookah. We enjoyed this place a lot and can't wait to return.

I've never been much of a smoker, but my mbff (male bff, but that was probably understood) is all about the Hookah. So we went for happy hour a couple Fridays ago - the hookah is 1/2 price. I was diggin the atmosphere - dim lighting, buddha bar type music, low sofas and silk pillows. I would definitely hit this up as a post-date spot to get cozy! My faves soon to be your faves: 1) The double apple hookah with a SHOT of vodka in the water (yes, ask to get a shot added and it makes the hookah stronger - mellow yellow here I come!) 2) Hummus - not sure if you can mess up hummus, but the traditional hummus with lime and the flatbread was sooo good!3) Lamb Chops - yum, that's about it.I haven't had any of the coctails as I am a habitual pinot or cab type of gal, but the others seemed to enjoy theirs.

Yelp wins again!  Decided to come here with my cousin and one of her friends the other day after a brief glance at the "what's nearby on yelp" list on my trusty phone.  I'm a Texan and even though I'm in Atlanta almost yearly, it's to visit my grandmother so I usually don't hit the town in the evenings.  I say all that to preface the fact that I don't really have much to compare this to in Atlanta, but as a spur-of-the-moment thing, it sure did the trick!Divan is fairly unassuming; it was obviously someone's home in a past life, and that adds such warmth and coziness to the experience.  Valet was complimentary, and the attendant pointed us toward the front door since we started walking the wrong way.  The host quoted us a 15-20 minute wait, but it was really only about 5 minutes (around 9:30pm on a Saturday night) so that was cool.  He took us upstairs to one of the rooms that had some cute paintings.  I had one of the pomegranate martinis, which was delicious...too delicious, in fact.  We asked the waitress if it had any vodka in it, and she offered to bring me a stronger one!  What service!  Granted, I didn't taste a huge difference with the next one but it was delicious and combined with the hookah (white peach/mint--great combo rec'd by our waitress!) put me in such a relaxed and happy state that I hadn't a care in the world.  We also got BOTH the traditional and black bean hummus to share and they were both super tasty, but I think I liked the black bean one better.  The pita was nice and thick, the way I like it!  So yeah...pretty much no complaints about this place.  We didn't try anything else so I can't comment, and I must note that the menu does require a $15 minimum per person, but we didn't quite meet that and the waitress never said anything...I think they just don't want you going in and smoking hookah for an hour and not ordering anything else.  Oh yeah--and on top of all that greatness, there is EXCELLENT people watching to be had.  You've got everyone from the serious business-talk over hookah dudes to the flighty girls taking 80 bazillion pictures of themselves blowing smoke into each other's faces.  Priceless.

If i am ever in the mood for scarring my lungs a little, this will be my first stop. I came here last night with my cousin (Tricia S.--check our her review as well) after she found it on her phone through yelp. I had come here once before but had only a vague recollection of it. First of all, the place is adorable--a well maintained old house with cute art and a funky vibe that isn't too theme-like for a hookah bar. We went to a room with a cute fireplace and were seated at a corner table next to a group of girls that were definitely there just to score some cute facebook pictures blowing smoke into each others mouths. After trying my cousin's pomegranate martini, I had to order one as well. Apparently they steep the vodka in pomegranates, so that may explain why I was convinced I was only drinking juice. We also ordered the traditional hummus and the black bean hummus. Both came with two large pieces of pita that was soft and warm. The black bean hummus had some sort of red pepper roumalade that helped it edge out the traditional. I'd suggest getting both though if your'e with 3 or more people. All-in-all, this place is top notch. The crowd ranged from pretentious to questionably under-aged, which made it enjoyable for people watching. I think when I go again I'd try eating, although maybe not seafood as when we arrived there was a fishy odor in the room. That was quickly concealed with our white peach/mint hookah though... smooth and relaxing!
