Mediterranean Bakery Sandwich Reviews
by Aditya R.
Located next to the Velvet Room on Chamblee-Tucker Road, this is a great Mediterranean bakery, sandwich and coffee shop. They also have a little grocery store inside it. For the hookah lovers, they sell hookahs and flavored tobacco along with some Saudi (looking at the companies that made the goods) perishables. I ordered the Lamb Sandwich which comes inside a toasted pita bread and has all sorts of heavenly goodness inside! They have an outside seating area, awesome for nice days. I chose to sit inside and listen to the music (it was actually good.. ) while eating. I am definitely going back again.

This place has terrific Middle Eastern food at an excellent price; if I could give it a half star, I would give it a 4.5 all around. It is my favorite lunch place around where I work, and I cannot think of a better place with similar food in that atlanta area. It seems off the beaten path a bit, not many great restaurants around, but it is worth the journey. At other places the meat may be a bit dry, or the hummus flavorless, but not here. I can't say I've tried a ton of different items because the ones I have tried are so good. The shwarma (sp?) is fantastic - their combos are tasty, and the people are nice. The environment is that of a convenience store - so don't go expecting fancy-shmancy.

Just finished a quick lunch here. I really like the simple menu of sandwiches and platters. Today I got the beef shawarma sandwich. Oddly enough, they didn't have lamb shawarmas which is more what I'm used to. My sandwich was ok, a bit on the dry side. Could've used more tabbouleh in it too. I will go back to try their kafta and their hookahs!Overall, I like this place, it's another addition to my lunch selection.

I'm Lebanese and I've been to all the local Lebanese restaurants in Atlanta. I'll start off by saying that none of them impressed me in the least, until Med Bakery. It's not even a proper restaurant, it's a grocery store/makeshift sandwich shop with a few tables and some chairs, but this place is about as close to authentic Lebanese food as you'll get in Atlanta. Please don't be fooled by the high prices and the facade of other Lebanese establishments, as they don't offer nearly the quality or the value of this place. The lahmoujan and manaeesh are superb and baked fresh early every morning, so this place makes a perfect brunch spot. The falafel are fried up on the spot and are delicious.I always make a point of hitting Med Bakery atleast once a week!

Dude, a friend of mine took us there for some authentic Middle Eastern food, and all I can say is WOW. This food is amazing, and that's all that really needs to be said. Everything I had was delectable, and if you want to talk about flavor; this place is definitely not skimping on it. In addition to a great restaurant, this place has a bakery and a grocery section, where you can get all kinds of Middle Eastern goodies. This truly is a great find, but I just wish that it wasn't OTP so I could go more often. The hummus they make is some of the best I've ever had; and everything that went in my mouth on our visit there was amazing. My only disappointment, was that because they close sort of early, they didn't have anymore Spinach and Feta pies, and I REALLY wanted to try one. Oh well, that's a great reason to go back, isn't it!

I came here for lunch with my bosses who couldn't say enough great things about Mediterranean Bakery. Well, I wasn't disappointed.Inside, Med is part grocery store, part hookah joint, and part restaurant. It's located in the same strip mall as Velvet room so I was surprised that this gem existed. After a short wait in line (which was a good sign) I ordered the falafel wrap. I grew up in Michigan and have had some decent falafel in the Detriot area but, this was the best! Truly, I expected something dry and OK but, the falafel was cooked just right and there was the perfect amount of Hummus inside. I was really impressed. I also tried a salad that started with "H". (Sorry, I can't remember the name.) It was a little disappointing. My boss ordered the same one and agreed. She also had the lamb wrap and was so excited that not only did they have the lamb prepared but, it was juicy and tasted great! This will definitely be a stop on those days that I forget to bring my lunch.

I went to this place with Zack E. and was greatly surprised. This place is fantastic. The falafel was amazing, cruchy outside, delicious and moist inside. The best i've every hard. The hummus was great with the homemede flatbread. The lamb was so delicious i think i actually drifted out of this reality for a moment and was transported to a world of succulent grilled meats. I've also had the Shawarma and its also great. If your new to Lebanese food it can be a little intimidating but once you start trying things you will realize, as i have, that this is how food was meant to be. I plan on going back soon to enjoy more things i've never tried before. oh and i hear the chocolate covered baclava is amazing.

This strip mall is so dead it should be on the far moon of Endor.... But I would make the jump to lightspeed to Blumpkin county just to nosh on their tasty grub.I knew it would be good when I was confronted with two large Autodoners piled high with meat staring me in the face. The selection is limited but who cares, it just means everything will be made better and given the attention it deserves to satisfy this Ewok's taste budz. To tell you the truth, I was kinda getting fed up eating that foliage on Endor. My hopes of cream of sum yung Luke and General Han's chicken was shot down by C3-P0. Damn you protocol droids! So I settled for... Beef shawarma, Meat Pie, Spinach Pie, Falafel. Everything was verra tastee and definitely warrant other visits when I visit Wicket and my other Ewok cousins in the far woods of Embry Hills (where ever the fug that is).Burp!

I love this place! They have a decent variety of foods, and all the basics are excellent. Their baba ghannoush is especially delicious, very smoky and rich. My wife and I usually split one of the combination plates, and if we are really hungry, get an extra side of something to go with it. In any case, we rarely spend more than fifteen bucks for the two of us. It's definitely the best middle-eastern food I have had in Atlanta. My only caveat is that their pita is only okay. Coming from Michigan, I'm accustomed to house-made pita in a place like this, and theirs strikes me as more factory-made. It's still good, but not as fresh as it could be.

This place deserves 4 1/2 stars!Ground lamb kabobs were sick, baba ganoush delicious, even the plain rice was moist and had flavor.Next time I'm going to get schawarma and maybe a falafel. In the same plaza as velvet room. Go now....

7 pm. Growling stomach. Empty cupboards and refrigerator since I'm headed out of town soon for 4 days and don't want to grocery shop. What to do for dinner?MSN Chat*:Todd P: Dude, I'm thinking of El Pollo LocoZack E: No way. Try Mediterranean Bakery. 4.5 miles from your house. It's awesome, best Lebanese food in Atlanta.Todd P: Beam me up, Scotty.Phone rings*:Tulie L: Whatcha doin?Todd P: Going to Mediterranean Bakery for dinner, come join me.Tulie L: I'm in like flynn.*Artistic license used in recollecting these conversations. Names not changed to convict the innocent.Tulie and I shared the Kabob dinner special for two, which was a massive pile of fresh and delicious food. It includes stuffed grape leaves, kibbi, hummus, pita bread and tabouli or fatoush, plus a plate of pickles to start. Then there are four skewers of kabob meat -- chicken, beef, lamb and kafta. And a couple of pieces of baklava to finish. All this for about 22 bucks. What this place lacks in ambiance and finesse (tables scattered in a cleared space between the deli kitchen and rows of grocery store shelves selling various mediterranean goodies, food served on styrofoam plates with plasticware utensils) it makes up for in delicious, fresh food. The meat was the highlight, flavorful and a generous portion. And the service was quick and friendly. One more evening of food foraging before I leave on vacay. What dining adventures will tonight bring??

I found my favorite Lebanese joint - thanks to Zack E. The food here is delicious, inexpensive, and the portions are very good. If I practiced healthier eating, I think I could've made two meals out of my lunch combo but of course I didn't - I ate everything :)So I couldn't decide between ordering chicken kabobs, chicken or beef shawarma, or the falafel. My friend got the chicken kabobs so score! That helped narrow my list of choices :) Our server said I could do half chicken half beef shawarma so yay - only the falafel was left. Turns out falafels are just 50 cents each so perfect - I could try everything I wanted to try for under $10 :)I got the shawarma plate for $7.79 which included two sides, rice, and lots of pita bread. For sides, I decided to get the Baba Ganousch Fatouch salad - both were excellent. I also absolutely LOVED the chicken shawarma - great flavor and if you're seeking even more great flavor, dip the chicken in the garlic spread. YUM!! I wasn't too crazy about the beef shawarma though - not as flavorful as the chicken a little tougher too. FYI - the beef comes with a creamy sesame sauce. I tried my friend's chicken kabobs - also excellent full of flavor. They really do a great job marinating their chicken here. Falafels were awesome too - tasted homemade, and having just the one falafel was perfect.Afterwards we explored their mini-market where they sell the pita bread, the different spreads, and as Zack E told me, everything Lebanese you can't find anywhere else in Atlanta. They have an olive bar, too.I will definitely come here again - either to satisfy my chicken shawarma craving (which I am suffering from at this very moment), or try the other dishes that sound very good on the menu.

My friend told me I had to try this place, so I did. I loved it! It's not a big eatery, but there's outside seating. The service was fast and friendly.FOOD: I had the chicken shawarma and the falafel sandwiches. The chicken breast was tender with the garlic spread, lettuce, and pickles wrapped in a flour tortilla-like wrap. It may have been a little dry, but if you add more garlic spread, it makes it better. The falafel was awesome! The falafel was crispy on the outside and a nice consistency of chick peas and spices on the inside. Since I'm not a pickle fan, I prefer it without the pickles. Overall, the sandwiches were great!

It appears that Zack E should start getting a commission on this place-- he brought me, too! I don't come out to this part of the world very often (I'm pretty sure I've actually never even seen this part of the world) but I'm glad I made the trek.Part café, part grocery, loved it all. I ordered up a falafel and it was pretty great, although next time I think I want to try shawarma or a kebab. Meat is good. We also had some zaatar (is that what it was, Zack?) which was REALLY great. Delicious pita bread topped with thyme and sesame seeds: I would certainly drive out here again for that.

I was once again reminded why I love Yelp so much today and how I can always rely on the reviews. The food here is unbelievably good. What makes this place stand out is that the actually give you the garlic spread which to me can be put on anything and make it amazing. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate with Greek salad and humus and loved every last bite. The place isn't about atmosphere. Very much with a low key cafe feel with random tables in a room. You stand up to order your food, but the reward in flavors blows this place out of the water. I feel as if my old Greek standby Mezza now has some serious competition. I'm definitely going to become a regular here. Outstanding.

So at the invitation of Mr. Zack E, I met him up at Med. Bakery for lunch. To clarify: Mr. Zack does not own stocks in the company, nor does he own it... But by reading all the previous reviews you would have thought so! He has seemingly converted many a yelpers to the way of the Shawarma! And let me tell you, I smeared fork, after fork of pungent garlic sauce all over my chicken shawarma. Delicious. And the baklava, with just a hint of rosewater was just enough to make me want to make the trek out to this little shopping center more often.

Stumbled upon this place by accident some time ago and have made it a regular stop - I ate there again last night and wanted to give them a shout out on Yelp. This place is simply fantastic - the garlic spread is amazing and the baba ganouj is super smokey and flavorfull. I usually order the chicken shwarma with baba ganouj and felafel. Everyone I've taken there has made it one of their favorites and a regular stop. When you've finished the meal make sure you look through the grocery - lots of very "pure" foods there (didn't see hide-nor-hair of corn syrup on the packages - apparently the Lebanese prefer real sugar).

I have been looking for somewhere to get a Shawarma since I've been in Atl. So thank you Yelp for helping me out. While the Chicken Shawarma was decent, it is one of the worst I have ever had. I would blame that on the fact that the chicken skewer was at least half gone and was not spinning. This is probably because the chicken was already dry which is why I say it was only decent. The flavors were great but the dry chicken killed it for me.Take in to account that this food was a stable of my diet for years and I have eaten in places that consistently have lines out of the door in both Houston and New York. So my standards may be a tad higher. Of course I will be eating here again but I hope there is more of a crowd so the meat is not over cooked.

Went for dinner. Ordered: - chicken shawarma (#3) with hummus and falafel - chicken was very moist and cooked well, it felt like a real piece of meat in my mouth, not something processed, and whatever that white sauce was delicious as well... - lamb kabobs (#8) with tibouli (sp?) and falafelThere's something to be said about having a meal without someone hovering over you commanding you to eat less pita... Likes it.But, I was so thirsty. Still thirsty. Is all mediterranean food thirst-creating food? Went for dinner. Ordered: - hummus- tibouli salad- lamb kabobs- falafel- pita- Turkish coffee (I can…
