nice cozy space w/ outdoor seating. the waitstaff is extremely attentive friendly. we had a few drinks the combo dip platter. i would definitely come back for lunch/dinner for a full meal. outdoor seating is not plentiful in the bayside/flushing area so i'm really glad we found this spot.

This place is awesome, I  mean from top to bottom... but let me not jump ahead of myself.Upon approaching Sala's from Northern Blvd, the exterior is gorgeous, the front outside area is full of tables and romantic lighting and beautiful decor. Just thought when I thought it couldn't get better.... it did.I entered, in to a very very chic bar.  The style, the positioning flawless in both architect and efficiency.  From the beautiful wood floors to the higly detailed art and touches of accents this place is very appealing to the eye, I hoped that it didn't end there.I was there for a function, food, drinks the whole shebang, the food was good, wasn't excellent, but I was pleased and satisfied, the service was impeccable and its always an added bonus when the bartenders (who I visited all night) were pretty cute (I'm a sucker for brunettes.)I've never heard of this place nor did I know of its existence, but I'm so happy it found me, for all I will definitely be returning again and again and soon!

UPDATE - 4/3/09/ - Sala now offers a new menu called the economic recovery menu.  It includes an appetizer or soup, salad and entree, all for anywhere from $16 to $29 depending on choiceof entree ... and the choices are pretty good.  they range from chicken to fish to shellfish to steak.  We love this place.  We go here with our kids, with our friends, just me and my husband and sometimes I go by myself for lunch with a good book!  I love the different seating areas.  The outdoor seating is great in the summer.  It's set far enough away from Northern Blvd to offset the noise.  There's a backroom/hookah lounge set separate from the eating area.  It's very funky and cool for hanging out with a group for a drink or for dessert.  The owner and his wife are charming and make a point of coming around to the tables.  The wait staff is hit and miss.  Sometimes on a busy night it gets a little hectic, but the management is always eager to make up for any error with a complimentary dessert or glass of wine.  The food is expertly made and well presented.  Portions are large and we sometimes just order an assortment of appetizers.  If you like soup, order the avoglemono... the owner's father in law makes it and it is truly devine!  I highly recommend Sala for evening out for in Queens for Manhattan quality food at Queens prices!

Found this place randomly. We had a vegetarian with us while we browsed the menu. It appeared to be greek food so we were down to try it. The staff was pretty friendly, the waitress was chatting it up, and bringing flaming shots to everyone. They also had a hookah area in the back. They had a recession special, which was pretty affordable, soup or appetizer platter, and a salad and the main entree. It was pretty good and affordable. I ordered the Aphrodite Royale which was a pineapple with bunch of seafood in it. Very tasty and affordable. I was pretty much happy with the food and service. their skirt steak was really. Loved their pita bread and dips. Definitely worth checking out.

I passed this restaurant en route to Taco Bell one day (what can I say?), and vowed to come back. I didn't even know what cuisine it was, but it looked so pretty chic from the outside that I wanted to go.   So I went on a Friday night for dinner. It has outdoor seating, and on a nice balmy summer night, this Greek restaurant is so inviting and awesome. The waiters were super nice and even pulled up an extra chair just for my handbag. Who does that??   I ordered Calamarkia (calamari) as an app and that was delicious. My entree was Moussaka which was heavenly. I would go back again again just for that dish: soft, flaky, thich, and rich, I loved every bite--even as I felt my thighs expanding! Ha. My BF got a Mediterranean Chicken dish, the meat was grilled so it was a little bland, but the rice it came with had a cheesy texture and tasted divine. We had mojitios and they were strong refreshing. With a little buzz on, and more than full we left happy to have discovered a new restaurant that we can frequent.

Recently opened, I had no idea whatsoever as to the type of restaurant it was.  It has a unique look to the area and, being that I love trying new places, dragged my cousin and brother for brunch.Absolutely Delicious.  We ordered a couple of appetizer plates not expecting much.  The charcoal grilled octopus was crunchy with just the right amount of capers and the roasted beets with garlic spread left me speechless.  I'm a very picky eater and was thoroughly impressed with the food. Our server seemed a little inexperienced, but others were there to make sure we were taken care of.  I'm going to go back for dinner sometime this week to see how they fare when they're really busy, but so far, highly recommended.EDIT: Dinner was even better.  Found out the chef used to work at Milos in the city.  How great is this find!  City quality food so close to home!
