We were originally headed to the restaurant next door, but they wouldn't sit a party of 7 without a reservation. Rays put together a table very quickly for us and we were promptly seated. While this is primary a pizza joint we all opted for their sandwiches. I had the gyro with a side ceasar salad. The salad came out first and was huge. The lamg gyro was fresh, and I loved the flat bread it was served on. The rest of our group had the flank steak sandwich with big, chunky steak fries, the shrimp po-boy which was delicious and the chicken pesto sandwich. Every sandwich was under $10 so the 7 of us got out of there for about $80.00. I'd recommend Rays without a doubt. I wonder if their pizzas are as good?

I'm renaming this place... Ray's Magic Oven. I have never experienced anything like it. This place will go down in the annals of brick oven dining history.    Ray's sucked us in and spit us out all six senses satisfied....specially the sixth sense (sense of hunger of course!!!) One step into Ray's and we were completely immersed by the place. We were greeted by the smell of the tantalizing brick oven and the sound of the live guitarist.  The decor - contemporary and tasteful without being overbearing cold or pompous - the first step into Ray's was a warm welcome of enveloping ambiance indeed.  Promptly, we were seated. I knew it was going to be good, I could tell just by looking around. The place looked immaculate and smelled delicious. The server was also promptly at our table with two large glasses of water and menus shortly after. He was polite and professional without being fake, and I really liked that. Anyways, after a short study of the appetizers Ray was offering we decided on the Hummus and Baked Artichoke Dip.  The Hummus was an event. I would gladly walk 500 miles for this Hummus. Easily the best Hummus I have ever tasted in my life (and that's quite a bit) hands down, no questions asked. The consistency was perfect, not too thick and topped with olive oil, cumin and paprika. The Hummus was truly an epic and sensual indulgence.  And finally, our vegetarian pizza arrived, I'll tell you, this was a real creation. The cheese was perfect, not greasy with the perfect amount of elasticity, yummy... and the toppings?... they must have a garden outside because I've never had fresher. All of this freshness and flavor presented on a dough that had to be made fresh daily, I mean, it was perfectly crisp and almost flaky on the outside and soft on the inside.  In addendum, they let me try a new vodka that I've never even heard of before, it was called 'Snow Queen'. One of the smoooooooooothest I've tasted, after the aperitif sized sample, I had a Snow Queen martini, one of the finest martinis I've had by the way.Ray's was a five star surprise, and to think... I thought it was a simple pizza place.  In closing, I will be returning to Rays to try their other dishes, maybe the Prime Rib, or the Chicken Alfredo, I love the extensive menu there. Bon Appetite fellow diners, and please... do yourself a favor, next time you have a few friends looking for somewhere to go, remember that Apple said, 'Ray's Rocks!'Oh, oh, oh, they also have private dining area for parties n such.

We didn't try the pizza. this is also an italian restuarant and it has a coffee shop built it (Ray's Java cafe). Anyways, they had a special on the board  . it was tilapia and a side. I asked the waitress about the tilapia.. she says, it's fish. how is it prepared, i asked. It's just tilapia. you can get it fried or grilled. I chose grilled. so I asked if I could get it as a sandwich. she said, we only have small squares of bread. the fish won't fit on the bread so I'll just bring you out some bread on the side. so I said okay.  The fish came out and it was.. a WHOLE FISH. BONES and everything. not fillet, not steaked. A whole fish with the head.  she couldn't have told me that when I asked about the fish??? that's something you tell someone.  I would have appreciated - hey you can't eat it as a sandwich unless you want a piece of fish bone in your throat.  Anyways, it tasted okay. not very seasoned. In the past, it seemed they had desserts in the coffee shop side, but not that they. I'm sure the pizza would have been a better choice.

Good pizza - different.  Thin and crispy.  I like it.  Break from the doughy NY style.  We had a good family night here.

okay....so.. i dont know what to make of this place.. and being that i know what real pizza is all about.. i dont know if id classify this as real pizza (in a kinda northern sense..) - id call it decent for being in the south, howeveri had the greek pizza.. mainly because i dig gyro meat. alas, im not here to complain about the pizza, so ray can keep on keepin on.i ordered.. artichoke dip i believe? you guys shouldve seen this muckit was terrible.. it was like watery vegetables floating in some kind of weird watery cheese? i dont think i possess the correct adjectives to describe how disgusting this stuff looked. i kinda wanted to push to the edge of the table, and let it go flying off. i did not do this in fear of ruining a brand new pair of dunks. so from here on out.. ill order take out.. if i ever want more heart attack gyro pizza. but the artichoke dip.. if i ever see it again, its being tested for flight.end of story.(id give it a higher score if it werent for that disgusting dip )

I hate to break the news to everyone, but this isn't brick oven pizza.  I noticed it right away and questioned them whether it was really a brick oven pizza...alas it is not.  The brick oven is a broken oven and they are using regular za ovens until they can figure out how to fix it.The za itself is not bad, better than the average Ray but that doesn't say much does it?  Decent char, decent cheese but the sauce is too sweet for my taste.  I wasn't thrilled with the crust though.  It's a bit flakey, and while some people love this quality in a crust...it's not for me.This gets my 'average cheese in Atlanta' rating...from the NY Pizza Guy.

Passing by here yesterday, I saw that Ray's is no longer Ray's. It has changed to a name I don't remember and is a bar/grill. Ray's is a wonderful place as it is one of those places that I know every time I go, I will have…

I went with a large group (about 10 or so) to Ray's Brick Oven last night. My wife and I love a good pizza, so we ordered one with the works. The large pizzas here are quite large... 18" !! Others at the table ordered calzones, stromboli, and one got a lasagna. They also have gyros and some mediterreanean dishes (the place used to be a Greek Restaurant... I joked that they had a bunch of left over lamb)All the portions were quite generous the food looked quite delicious. The pizza was excellent... right amont of toppings and sauce and the thin crust is done just right. The texture of the cheese was a little different than straight mozzerella... it tasted like it had parmesan mixed in, which was fine by us! The drinks were fairly inexpensive ($3 martinis and mojitos for the ladies on Thursdays) and they had live music going on. The one thing that did seem somewhat out of place is that they had hookahs available. In fact, even though the restaurant is probably non-smoking (I didnt see or smell anyone smoking) they brought out a hookah for a group right in the middle of the bar area.... strange thing I thought, for  what I imagined was a pizza joint.Service was a little slow, but it appeared they were short-handed. The waitress was remarkably cheerful and pleasant given the circumstances. We were in no rush so it didn't matter too much. We'll definitely visit here again.

OH MY GOD!  This place is so good.  I have been looking for a good pizza place since I moved here five years ago, and I think I have finally found it.  Good semi New York style pizza.  The ingredients are always fresh tasting and very good.  The dough knots are better then any bread sticks!  And to boot they deliver to my house (limited area).  My parents went there first when they came into town and they loved it so much they took us there next time they were in town (so out of towners approved).

Let me preface by saying I love pizza. I'm from Chicago and people from Chicago know pizza like the Irish know beer.  This place is pretty standard compared when it comes to the kind of pizza you can get in the south. I stopped in here for lunch one day because I was randomly in the area and needed some grub :)  I went in and ordered the cheese pizza lunch special. It was pretty cheap and was ready almost immediately.  There really isn't anything that stands out about this place based on my single visit there.  But it was a quick and easy place to grab lunch.  Would probably go back if I were in the area more often.
