Sorry to Jennifer - but that was the worst middle eastern food that I have ever tasted  - and I have had a lot.

The food, while obviously fresh, is normally not very impressive.  I would only go if you were planning on partaking in the hookah after dinner.

Farah's is a pretty laid back place to visit.  You walk in the front doors and wait to be seated.  You can either sit in the front area where they have couch style seating (Very Comfy) or grab a table in the back room by the fireplace. They have a full bar and some decent beers on tap.   They offer $10 hookahs after 10pm which is a deal since most of their signature hookahs are $15.  I usually go as a group of 4, we get one hookah and a pitcher or two, and it works out to be about $5 each.  Definitely easy on the wallet.  If you decide to eat here though, that is another story because the food is unnecessarily expensive.  Service is average and they make sure the coals are always burning.  I noticed a lot of the other reviews are older, and state this is the only Hookah place in town. That is no longer correct because  there is a place called Hookah Hut that opened up a while ago near to reggae shack.  The whole place smelled like smoke though (like they had no ventilation).  So if you like a relaxed setting to have a few drinks and pass the hookah around, this would be it.  If you don't encounter a homeless person walking to or from your car, I would say your in for a good night!!

Farah's is the only hookah bar in town so I suppose it might be good for those seeking a flavored tobacco fix, but other than that, I'm not sure Farah's is worth a visit. I've tried their falafel and I've tried their wings (which had been highly recommended to me) but neither dish impressed me. The falafel tasted like it came from a mix. The sauce on the wings lacked the promised amount of heat. A disappointment.

I have been to Farah's a few times and I have never been disappointed with my visit. I am not into hookah or smoking, so that was not the appeal. I just wanted to try the food and for the price it is a decent place to eat.

Mediterranean food is pretty good. Best baba ganoush I've had.  Grape leaves and hummus are both pretty good too.  Service is a bit too ... casual. They get around to you eventually. But I keep going back for the food.

I've gone to Farah's on and off for about 7 years. Dining in the Atrium is nice. Some dishes are okay, some are so-so. The menu favors Mediterranean cuisine with mixed American fare: falafel, burgers, salads. I'm not a fan of the Caesar salad which is so heavily dressed it tastes like it's bathed in mayo. But the fried mushrooms are excellent. While the falafel maybe homemade, I agree that it's blander.Farah's is a good place for groups who have a few people who aren't too adventurous, and some that may want a little more than just burgers, and fries. The menu won't overwhelm you with items you don't recognize.

I go here for the veggie mediterranean platter (hummus, baba ghannouj, grape leaves, tabbouleh, falafel, and spinach pies for two people).  I just wish the service were better.  It takes forever to get menus once you've been seated, and good luck getting another beer before you're finished eating.

Farah's has a low rating. Must be anti-Middle Eastern sentiment. You people watch too much 24.This is the only place I know of to get a Falafel Burger, and their pita and hummus is irresistible. I say that as a recovering drug addict, too: I would rather have hummus than sweet, sweet heroin.

Aside from smelling like smoke and taking a pretty long time to get your food, Farah's is pretty good. The food is tasty and the portions are huge. Lots of vegan options. Just depends on how long you want to wait

Horrible. Never going back!Service takes FOREVER. Once upon a time, this may have been the place to go, but this is just bad Mediterranean food mixed in with some half-decent American food now. Their hookah's are ok, but its totally classless since they don't even give you tips. Food sucks, took forever to get, and then the order was wrong. I ordered some grape leaves to go, since I'm a grape leaf junkie. It was so nasty, I couldn't swallow it, gagged and went for the nearest garbage can.Horrible atmosphere, terrible service, this place sucks. Avoid at all costs! The ONLY good thing about this place is their hummus. People who say this is good Mediterranean food either don't have tastebuds or bloody liars.Don't Go Here!

Like every one else has not failed to mention, the service at Farah's is not the best. They do take an extremely long amount of time to serve you. I'm not sure why but that's just how it is. I went for my birthday one year and it was great that they had enough room for all of us. I have also gone alone several other times solely to eat a Falafel Burger.I love the Falafel Burger at Farah's. Like Danny D., I have not been able to find another place in Gainesville that offers Falafel Burgers on the menu. The falafel burger at Farah's is huge! Definitely a filler! With a side of fries, you are set for a hearty meal. I've also had a sampler of the classic tabbouleh, hummus pita, and falafel. All of these items in the sampler were delicious but as I have said before, it is hard to mess these up. Or at least I think so.The smoke does become a problem sometimes. However, every customer should be aware of this when they walk in. It plainly says that Farah's is also a hookah cafe. That being said, the smoke is to be expected and all that can be done is to ask for seating far from the hookah area.I only go to Farah's for the Falafel Burger. It would be a lot of fun to go again with a big group of people. The servers should really try to be more attentive. It would probably draw more customers back to eat at the restaurant again.
