Marhaba Mediterranean Cuisine Reviews
by Mark S.
The place is not at all expensive if you just order an assortment of appetizers. I usually order lentil soup, hummus, and moussaka (an eggplant-based dish). Also good are the falafel and baba ganoush. There are tables outside, but your service will be much better if you take an inside table.

I really like Marhaba. I was introduced to it by a friend many years ago and for a while, it was my Middle Eastern fix staple. Unfortunately, I've grown to a point in my life where I avoid Sunset Place like the plague, so now I go to Maroosh in the Gables. Marhaba has excellent kababs, tabouleh, pitas, and shawarma. I used to always sit outdoors and would sometimes indulge in a hookah. They have Turkish coffee. Which to me, tastes bitter and indigestible. But you may like it!

The best Mediterranean/Middle Eastern Restaurant... in the neighborhood.

I thought the food was well spiced and flavorful. The portions were sizeable. The only con is that I think it's a little pricey but not too pricey. It is "reasonable-high" in prices. I hope that helps! The decor is nice. They sometimes have belly-dancing.The beef kafta was yummy. And so were the spinach pies (although I thought they were kind of small. The hummus was good (especially if you add the olive oil).Overall I would come back for good Lebanese food and take a stroll around South Miami / Sunset afterwards. But for the better Lebanese option that I've had in Miami - (really in Doral), check out Layali Miami!

I keep holding off on reviewing this place because the service has been so inconsistent that they got me on a love hate relationship basis- So I will really try to be as fair and impartial as I can.The food has been holding its own lately, we really enjoy the Kibbeh Nayeh or raw Kibbeh - this is definitely the right place to be adventurous and have some raw beef ... it is delicious.A safe way to go for us is to order 5 or 6 appetizers and share with the table, that way we sample many of the items in the menu and there is always something for everyone around the table. The Babbaganouj is nothing short of spectacular, rolled grape leaves are always a hit - And the list goes on.If they can only get it together and have friendly and courteous service consistently , the may rate enough to get up to the fourth star.

Marhaba is located on the first floor of Sunset Place facing Sunset Drive. The hummus and pita (soft and crunchy chips) and spinach pies are my favorite. They have belly dancers on Friday and Saturday nights if you're in to that sort of stuff. I can do without someone shaking their body near my food, but thats just me. They also have hookahs. You can valet down the street at the Sunset Place valet, pray to God for available meter parking on the street, or park in the Sunset Place garage.

Must say it is a good place, but definitely not my Miami favorite. Lets start with service - made me feel like it was a slight inconvenience to help us. That is pretty standard in many places here in Miami. The food is worth going for, prices OK, just not the best Middle Eastern in Miami.. I still am mourning the loss of El Manara that used to be down the street. If you were to ask me if I would recommend this place over any other one.. No.The Kibbeh Nayeh was only so-so.. Otherwise pretty good.

Marhaba, located in Sunset Place, is just OK for a quick bite to eat. I don't think that it's worth going out of the way for. Maroosh or Layali in Doral are your best bets for Arab food. I tend to agree that the service at Marhaba isn't all that attentive and I find that the prices are a little high given the setting and quality of food being served. I always notice that when I go to an Arabic restaurant, people start looking at the menu and they seem kind of indecisive or uncertain that the food they are about to order might not be palatable. That's common especially if the cuisine isn't familiar to you. Don't be intimidated! What I always do is order a bunch of appetizers (hummus, falafel w/tahini, stuffed grape leaves, baba-ganush, etc...) and I just have it as a meal. Give me plenty of pita bread along with it and you have a meal. And if you're hungry enough, you can have a kebab, or a lamb dish. The possibilities are endless. And now after writing all of this, I'm getting pretty hungry, for Arab food.

I've been to places that have Mediterranean food that's just as good as, if not better than Marhaba on the whole. But I give this place 4 stars because of their delicious kibbe and greek salad.I could eat those two dishes everyday and be perfectly fine with it.

Today I have to say I was truly disappointed. We have been here a few times and the food has been really good, the service was never Great, but today it made me question ever going back.We sat down and they gave us the dinner menu, mind you the dinner menu comes with a hard cover and the lunch menu is just one sheet w/ the plastic on the outside for protection. We had to call over the waitress to ask her for the lunch menu and she say's oh I thought it was inside. That was a lie, because they never place it inside the dinner menu and I've been here more then a hand full of times. They brought us our water and I found an ant in my water, so we had to call over another girl so that I can ask for another water, she didn't even apologize, we also had to ask her for pitta chips/bread because we had been there for a good 5 minutes and we hadn't gotten it yet. It usually came with sauce, we didn't get anything but the chips. We order our food and I ask for separate checks. The food when you order a Kabob usually comes with a Greek salad, it's a small bowl with cucumbers and yogurt sauce, very good and refreshing, well half way through my friends meal, I asked her what happened with her salad, she had to call the girl over and ask for it, and the girl went and got her one. Again no apology. My falafel pita was okay, not as good as I remember. Through out the entire meal, we didn't have anyone ask if it as okay and no re-fills on water, even after I had to flag her down to get the check because she was in the back by the bar with her head down did she offer more water. Besides that she comes with one bill instead of the split bill as I requested in the beginning. I gave it a two star instead of a one because the food wasn't horrible, but it could have been better, Needless to say the service was horrible, and I don't think I will be going back anytime soon. I have been several times to Marhaba with my co-workers for lunch. Their lunch menu is spectacular.…

I have been going to this restaurant for a few years now, and in summary, the food is good but the service is uninspired. The service is not bad, but for a place that charges $18 for chicken kabobs needs to have all aspects come together including service. Oddly, the managers / owners always seem really nice and make you welcome, but it is shame they do not encourage their employees to follow their lead.So by now you must be asking, why I keep going back? Well, the location is nice, and the outdoor seating is nice. I find it rare to have good middle eastern cuisine in a more upscale environment. I am a big fan of their babaganoosh and kefta kebabs (beef). There wine selection is also decent, but unfortunately they do not have a full bar. Another plus is they have hookah which can be relaxing after a nice meal. I guess, in summary, I would give them 4 or even 5 stars if their service was better, and hopefully the word gets around to the owners? Who knows maybe they are reading this review?
