We have been to this place several times and for different occasions- birthdays, farewell parties, or just to hang out - The place is like a wine cellar with walls lined with wine bottles so you are guaranteed to find one or several that will please the crowd. The place has a menu as well, it is mostly Spanish tapas and to our surprise they were pretty good - They have pretty good music and on the weekends they have a live band that plays good Latin tunes that you can dance to, during breaks, they have a DJ and their music is good as well. So the place is Wine Shop, Lounge, Tapas bar and more- They also have a Hookah and they will sell you different kinds of tobacco if smoking is your thing.

Didn't know what to expect upon arriving at VIP. What is it's identify? Wine bar? Lounge? Tapas Bar? Well I was feeling brave and believe in supporting local businesses. I might have showed up too early. 4:30pm. It seems like a family owned business because the family was there, child doing homework on the couches we would have loved to sit in, family squabble going on as well. Staff wasn't really there yet. So what might have been an owner uncomfortably enough offered assistance. This nice lady was out of her element and not accustomed to customer interaction or taking care of a table. However, this lady did feel comfortable in promoting a $26 cold cut plate of manchego cheese, sausage, grapes toothpicks with black olives and serrano ham. This is what happens when you ask for advice from a person not in touch with the menu and basically just pushed the highest margin plate on the menu. At least she admitted the obvious, she is not accustomed being in front of the house. Quality of food was okay. Decent wine menu. $25-60 per bottle. Limited "by the glass" selection. My guest had a glass of sangria and I had two heinekens. Total spend $60, left 15% gratuity because I used to bartend and feel obligated. The young primadonna type server finally arrived but treated us as if we were interrupting her time on the couch with the rest of the family. The five-inch stilettos might have contributed to her pretentious disposition. Never looked at us in the eye and seemed aloof and dismissive. We weren't in her apparent clique. Three stars given because the "variety plate" was okay. Needless to say, I was disappointed with overall experience. Pet peeve alert - Dirty Glass door, finger prints etc. I will give VIP the benefit of the doubt because we got there early and the whole place seemed out of sync. One more opportunity will be given at some point, because it has to better; I want it to be better. Let's support it so that it survives. Management please do your part. Tighten up!!
