This place is awesome! I went on a Tuesday night when it was pretty dead. We caught a sox game and enjoyed the decent draft selection on the super comfy cozy winding "couch" that followed the pattern of in-ceiling lights. The service was fast and friendly, probably because the number of staff matched the number of patrons. I did not get to take advantage of the board game selection, but I did scope it out on my way out the door, it is a great selection, heavy on the Scrabble. I did not eat here, but I'm sure I will soon!Bottom line; great spot for a crowd or a couple. Friendly service and just the right amount of dive bar charm.

Going to grab drinks at Our House is sort of like going to grab drinks in your friend's mom's basement....there are a bunch of tables, some old couches and stacks of board games available to those of us who are too competitive to just sit and socialize at bars.  It sort of has that "basement" smell, too, which depending on your viewpoint, may or may not be a bad thing. The drinks are cheap (yes, there are $2 Brubakers, but the well drinks are also pretty cheap), and the bartending service sort of matches the friend's mom's basement attitude; I ordered a muddled old fashioned, just to see what happened, and got the expected "mom's basement" service: our server took the order (asking me to repeat it twice) walked to the bar, walked back and announced "Sorry, we can't make that. We don't have Old Fashioned Whiskey here".  Riiight.... (for those of you who aren't bartenders or pretentious drinkers, there is no such thing as "old fashioned whiskey'; you just need plain ol' well whiskey for that drink...).  Anyhow, I wasn't expecting much, so I can't say I was surprised. It's a good choice for a sweatshirt kind of night out....the fries are tasty, and of course there are the board games. When it comes down to it, though, unless you're planning on meeting a bunch of people out there, the drinks at our house are always cheaper than those at Our House, our couches are cleaner, and at least I know how to make a MOF ;)

I love the funny atmosphere.  Not for chatting with your boyfriend if there is a game on or one of their TV watchin' nights.  Although you can retreat to the back room and all will be well (you can play video games there).  Food -- get the waffle fries, you will die, that's all, that's how good they are.  The waffle fries are pure unadulterated goodness of crispy delight formed into waffle patterns on the wonder of potatoes. I remember the first time I bit into them thinking maybe they will be soggy or gross or just okay.  NO, my friends, they are heaven-sent.  Try them.

Only fitting that a drunk like me would make Our House her hundredth review...I come for the drinks. Weekdays are horrible because it's absolutely deserted so no one even tries so they don't rush to make you a drink. But the weekends are worse cuz you can't get a drink no matter how desperate you are for one. So yeah...

Typically this has been a Saturday/Sunday morning recovering spot. We go in just past noon for the Brunch menu which includes $5 omelettes, $5 Bloody Mary, and $4 Mimosa. Pretty grand. I would recommend the "Rangers" omelette because it is filled with chili and cheddar cheese. They serve the food with little tater tots that are crispy and absolutely delightful! The Bloody Mary here is one of the best I have ever had, if not the very best! It has pepper, horseradish, Tabasco and I don't know what else. So damn good, the hair of that dog. I have to say though, that I went here at night with my dad recently and the service was HORRIBLE! Usually we get impeccable service in the afternoons but at night it was terrible and our waitress forgot our appetizer even though she asked us if we would like it *before* our food. Monday-Friday is 2 for 1 Burgers (big, yummy, around $8) and appetizers. Just know that if your table drinks more than $75 worth of Brubakers they will ask you for a credit card even though you are not done.Oh Our House, you are one of a kind. Presently I probably go to this place about 3 or 4 times a year, but, back in my BU days I was here like every weekend. I know it's a dive bar, but it does seem like it's slightly grungier than it used to be - but - maybe I'm just more jaded . Also - the servers tend to be kind of unfriendly, but whatever, it's part of the scene. Anyways, the drinks are cheap - can't beat the $2 Brubaker and the cocktails are usually around $5. They have a decent selection of beers on tab and a late night menu. And, the best part was probably the hours playing Jenga on their comfortable couches. If I am in a bar mood, I like to go here. Cheap drinks. Cheap food.  And an abundance of games to entertain yourself with- Pretty much everything a bar should have plus some. Whenever I go here, I always make new friends.  Everyone is pretty friendly, laidback and outgoing.  The couch seating adds to the openess of it all. The servers, are hit or miss when it comes to efficiency and friendliness.  But overall, this place is awesome. You know how people always talk about "our bar", kinda like the whole Cheers thing but in real life? Our House is that place for us, the bar we frequented 1, 2, 3 nights a week during college and continue to do so (albeit not quite as often... we're gettin too old to go out like we used to). This place has it all: wicked chill atmosphere complete with soundtrack from someone's Ipod, a bevvy of various seating options (stools, tables n chairs, couches, ledges), Naked Photo Hunt (my favorite game EVER), $2 Brubakers, a plethora of board games (the Jenga is the drinking version with all kinds of random stuff written on it), foosball/pool/other various video games to satisfy your add, running into at least one friend/acquaintance/coworker without fail, food if you're hungry... basically the keys to life. For that alone, it deserves 5 stars, but I'll give it a 4.5 to be objective: some of their mixed drinks/shooters really suck (I once ordered a birthday cake shot which I had had elsewhere before and was delicious, but this version was probably the grossest alcohol drink I've ever tasted, UGH), the line to get in can get ridiculously long and move too slowly at primetime, and sometimes going to a place where you know everyone isn't necessarily a good thing (although not so much Our House's fault). Now that I'm back in school, it may be time to start back up frequenting this place... feels like home :)My favorite bar in boston. Not even cool if you're in college. Easily one of the worst places I've ever been. How it remains in business is mindboggling. Imagine a lame idea for a frathouse filled with snobs, all of whom give off a vibe not unlike "hey, who invited you to _our house_?" The bar is not well monitored and drinks can be easily tampered with when it gets busy. Allston has always had a bad reputation for creeps putting date-rape drugs in drinks, so ladies WATCH YOUR DRINKS! This is sound advice for anyone drinking anywhere that has a busy bar. I hope the management of Our House will read this and take measures to ensure the safety of their customers. Regardless, this is someone's idea of a college bar. My advice is to stay away.

I consider The Heez to be my regular bar. Me and the other members of the Beals Street Bike Gang head there two or three times a week. I go for the Brubakers ($2.50 pints in recycled bottles that are a rarity around town), the lounge atmosphere and the leisure games like buck hunter, pool and of course foos. The food here is surprisingly good. Burgers are tastey, waffle fries are bomb and the mozz sticks are a personal fave. They used to have a dollar menu that was sweet, but it went the way of their brunch and dollar burger nights.Trivia here is kind of a sham. a bunch of hipster kids will always form one giant group and then pool answers. That is lame. Oh, I should also mention that this is def a hipster bar, though not exclusively so. Unlike nearby bars such as the silhouette and the model (total shit-hole) where you either have to be a decaying alcoholic barfly or your pants have to be cutting off your circulation in order to feel welcome, Our House West takes all kinds. You get some bros and floosies here and there, but the crowd is mostly low-key pepes in their early 20's with an "alternative" bent.I wouldn't consider the Heezy a dive, but it's also not a place you're going to get dressed up to go. It's "garden level," that great realty euphemism that means subterranean, but that dark adds to cave-like feel of the bar. My advice, come on a thursay night or weekend if you want it bumpin. The rest of the week is really hit and miss. Order a Brubey or a 'Gansett and be sure to explore the whole establishment. There are foosball tables around the corner from the bathrooms and if you keep trekking, you'll find a "secret" back bar that can hold about 10 people at once. There's also a TV back there where we used to watch celts playoff games when the front was too heated.  This is a good bar to end the night with, as they never get people (us mostly) out of the bar till 2:15 or 2:30. It's also a good date spot since the drinks are cheap, the vibe is chill and it's not as loud or run-down as most other Allston bars.

This place intrigued me for quite some time and I finally decided to check it out a while back with a friend one evening and we both loved it.I'm not sure if it was the comfortable couches, the non-crampness of the place, the drinks or the combination of everything but we felt very at ease and were delighted with the few hours we killed there. We ordered drinks at the main bar and could talk without being bothered by any loud music. People were playing board games, texting and chatting away around us and we even got to test out some future appetizers that they were thinking about introducing. They were delicious and our feedback was taken very seriously which shows that they care and that is awesome!Great place, I highly recommend it, especially since they have a pretty good selection for both liquor and beers! The only thing keeping it from a perfect 5-star rating is the fact that street parking in that area can be a total nightmare...

"Who got the Chili burger"...Chilly burger?  No i wanted a Philly burger.  At that point I knew the meal was going to go down hill.  My friends and I were a table of about 8 and the only people in here on a Saturday night.  The place had a Kiss108 / Back in the day buffet Jammin 945 mix tape with 8 songs playing on repeat.  That was interesting in and of itself.  The food was horrific, not to mention the mix up, but the eventually hamburger i got was more like the chard remains of a steak left on the grill overnight.  I think it could have passed as a plastic hamburger for an old fisher-price kitchen play set.  The rest of my night consisted of unsuccessful attempts at vomiting and cursing the avenue for not having anyplace to sit and eat.I wouldn't recommend this place...but it will get one star just for the fact that I should have know better from the start....puke
