This place sucked!  I went there with a friend and we had horrible service, the owner was trying to find the remote control for a movie that he was trying to start and then turned on the volume wayyyyy too loud!  The food was not good, even the Hummos sucked and they took way too long to bring my friend pita bread with her Hummos!  I will not be going back anytime soon!

Small yet interesting--and delicious--menu.  Nice.A full-on Turkish market!  Turkish coffee.  Figs.  Fresh olives.  Cheeses.  And so on.  A full-on Turkish market in Lakeview?  Yeah.  Hoo rah!  Culture!Don't forget about the hookah supplies near the back.  Give this place a try.  This otherwise sad little strip of Ashland Ave needs a great shop like this.

Great neighbourhood Turkish grocer.  Staff was friendly, warm and the owner also advised me on how best to take my dried figs with coffee (stuff the figs with dried garbanzo beans or with walnuts).  I stopped in between lunch and dinner but inquired about food served.  Shisha-Nargyle/ Hookah pipes stand in the back, but are for sale only.  Some curious noteables Ayran yogurt, tobacco (for shisha), chocolates, cheeses, pastries, olvies.

My friends now think that I am a very talented Turkish Housewife! The other night, I had an EID dinner party.  I bought some frozen poaca (baked pastries) from the Double Apple, popped them in the oven for about 8 minutes, and served them after dinner with Turkish tea.  Everyone thought that I had slaved away all day in my kitchen making fresh pastries for the party.  And I let them think that, for about half an hour, until I decided to give props where they are due-  Double Apple!! Cok Guzel! So glad that I no longer have to drive to Istanbul Market in the suburbs to get Turkish…

BYOB and BYOF.  They provide the hookah.I think this place used to be a law office, but you can hardly tell.  Except for the brightly-lit game room in the back with the rolly chairs and the shelves of annals and encyclopedias. It was packed when we went...the place is partitioned into separate rooms  without a whole lot of seating, which encourages intermingling and drifting from room to room and feels a lot like a house party.  Pretty fun.

Such a charming little eatery and market!!!  They have amazing panini's, and I was so excited I could buy feta cheese and baklava among other ethnic groceries that I can't usually find elsewhere.  The decoration is super cool, each room has a different theme, its a perfect place to have a get together or meet up with friends since its BYOB!!!!!!  There is a game room in the back, plasma tvs, and a hookah room where they sell any and everything you need for your hookah needs.  I also loved their Turkish breakfast that they serve in the morning.  Great, fresh food.  I Loved it!!!!!

The Double Apple is a hidden treat in my old neighborhood! It's a combination Turkish grocer and deli.  Although I have yet to shop for my groceries here, I do enjoy the paninis and various Turkish and Mediterranean delights.  My recommendations?  The Turkish breakfast (with Turkish coffee of course!).  It's a cold meat and cheese platter, but when I stood up afterwards, I was FULL.  Good thing I have a decent walk home to work that off!  I also recommend the Nutella and cheese pita or panini.  Probably the second best thing ever invented by man!The staff here is imminently helpful and welcoming.  I feel like they've invited me into their home.  The first time we came, there was a small mix-up with an order and they were so gracious about it I almost felt bad for complaining!  I haven't been to the back room yet, but my understanding is there is a variety of gaming tables and other distractions back there.  You can bet that I will be taking advantage of that soon!  The front area features a more plush seating area, which is great for working on your laptop (on the WiFi!) and sipping coffee (Turkish...duh!).  I honestly can't gush enough about this place because I truly enjoy coming here and supporting a business that makes me want to keep coming back!
