Following a long day at work, I take time to swing by the nearby "Happy Hookah Lounge" neighborhood joint. The place is surely the nicest and cleanest hookah lounge in the city of Chicago, check it out!. The art deco and the atmosphere are far better than other hookah places, TRUST ME. They recently added a variety of new flavored tobacco, my favorite (mojito). As you walk into the lounge, you can smell the fruity and minty flavors through the air. The crisp iced tea and warm tea was a perfect beginning before the hookah adventure. The environment is nothing less than a phenomenal expression only available from the hands of well-trained, seasoned and friendly employees. You can request just about anything and they will accommodate you. You can have birthday parties, private parties; watch sports games or just get together with friends and allow them to the rest for you at a reasonable price. This lounge allows you to BYOB and you can't beat that. They supply the chasers (cranberry, orange juice, soft drinks and ice). I will definitely be returning on Saturday, June 20th as they kick-off the night with DJ's playing old school music. Hookah with a twist of great music and music videos at your request. You should check it out. The owner, Lewis is friendly and will make you feel right -at- home. Hey, if you don't believe me, check it out for yourself.

Went last night to the Happy Hookah Lounge with a friend on a whim, and had a great time! Funnily enough, I went during the time that a fellow reviewer "Lou R." was there with his huge party-Thanksk for the Cupcake!  We tried  the Apricot, and then a Watermelon Mint combo that the server suggested. I would have NEVER thought to even try it, I usually don't care for mint.  It was AWESOME! so smooth and tasty.  Best thing about a BYOB place? Its a  10 min busride away! To Lewis  the proprietor, thanks for a great evening!

I recently came here with two of my friends and had a very good experience!  our hookah was great and lasted forever!  we were a little disappointed to not have known about the specials they have because happy hookah lounge was having no BYOB fee that night...it would have been nice to have had a drink or two while relaxing!  The seating is very comfortable, atmosphere nice and relaxing, and the staff was very attentive!  i'll definately be returning to take advantage of their specials!  the only thing i'd have to say wasn't so great was that their credit card machine was out when we went, so my two friends had to walk a few blocks to get cash while i sat and waited.  for that reason, it might be a good idea to bring cash just in case, but it could have been a fluke.  aside from that, it was a great time!  look forward to going back, especially when it's so close to home!

The hooka's were great. The main guy that works there was really nice. Over all a stand up place.

My friends and I just got back from HHL and it was great, the owner is a really friendly guy. If you've never been to a hookah bar or aren't very experienced just ask him and he'll explain and suggeste some great stuff. We had the passon fruit mojito hookah...AWESOME!!!  The chairs are really comfy and decor is lovely. Their bathroom is also  really pretty...lol. It's a good place to come and just chill and smoke, they have awesome specials each night.  It's a byob, but there's a charge of $6.00 I think. Not bad, they don't kick you out like Samah and they know how to pack a hookah. They have a website: http://happyhookahloun.../ and if you want to call use this number: 773-531-2114. On FACEBOOK too, http://www.facebook.co...You'll love this place and should definitely check it out. I've been to a ton of hookah bars and this one is my new favorite. I also just bought a hookah from him tonight. :)

Happy, I was.Hookah, I did.Lounge, MOST definitely.I went to HHL yesterday night after a night of drinks and recording and caught a nice $10 unlimited hookah night. The rest of our party had arrived before us, and despite only being there a half hour or so before us, they seemed to be SUPER comfy. The music was beat out for a Comedy Central special. Upon the slightest suggestion, the "i-pod DJ" was easy to find. The hookah choices aren't going to make your head spin with too many choices, but there is a nice variance of selections, but don't be afraid to ask what else they might have. All my questions were answered with a smile and shoulder pat. Our group ended up staying up until closing, and all want to go back again soon.Nice place, quite accessible, comfortable decór, and quite the inviting staff.

This probably the only decent hookah bar in the city. Mostly minorities, but everybody is friendly, including the owner and staff. Prices are reasonable (hookah between 2 for $15.00).  The shisha is high quality and will last for a good 2 hours if you wish to stay that long. They do not kick you out like other hookah bars.  Staff is attentive and came by at least three times to change out our coals. It is small, cozy and fancy place..They have wi-fi, deliverable food from down the street, and TV.  Great place!  The owner even gives out his cell number for reservations (773) 531-2114.  He will work out deals with you.

I had high hopes but didn't think this place was any better than North Park Hookah (which is right next to my apartment). The TVs blasting trashy pop music via satellite radio ruined the experience for me.If I can find a hookah place that plays mellow music that doesn't overpower my conversation I will happily give them all my business!

Overall,  Happy Hookah is an alright place, but leaves one longing for much more.  Some improvements surely needed, but a good place if looking to save $$$ on the northside. From the street, Happy Hookah looks closed - darkened windows, curtains covering every ounce of light. This is just a bad idea for any business, especially one that is struggling for patrons. Open up the windows, let out light, and clearly show you are ready for business. (And "no", just having a flashing "Open" light does not count). Anyways, the inside has nice red marbled walls and plenty of plush couches and chairs. The manager/shopkeeper (???) that night instantly gave me a bad impression - not professional.  I understand it can be joking, but it is not the attitude to have in a business.  This man "joked" saying that they were closed... when clearly the "open" light was on outside... then laughed when I looked confused and said, "just kidding."  Also, when taking our hookah order, he took our order so casually and with many more "jokes" that usually ended in "just kidding."   More professionalism would help attract more business. The hookah options are very extensive and you should have no problems finding one that suits your taste. From fruity, to aromatic, no problems. Plus, Happy Hookah is very affordable - one of the cheaper hookah places that I have seen in Chicago. That being said, I wonder how they make enough money at these prices!!!  ;-)  If you don't mind cable TV in the background, some pop-ish/clubby music on the speakers, and shopkeepers who just are "too" buddy-buddy, then Happy Hookah Lounge will surely be a regular joint on your list.  Easy parking, lots of seating, big hookah selection, cheap prices.

This place is okay, it was Friday night and no one was there but me and my friend. The place got busier as the night went on, but that's not a big sticking point with me. We walked into a small place with a guy at the counter who I thought was a waitress but I think was the owner/manager's daughter. He was friendly enough though, asked us if we wanted to put on the game but it cut out because his dish was on the fritz. Which is fine because that also meant the music they chose would only be heard occasionally. He would talk on the phone a lot in between checking up on us.The hookah selections were pretty vast, not as large as some other places I have been to, but pretty good. The tobacco was okay, but also the coals they had were small and it was obvious they were would be no coals without an extra charge. Drink wise, it seems like the standard set, they were out of what I wanted but it happens. It just seems pretty underwhelming.

The last stop of the day (this is still party of my Sunday fun-day).  Honestly, one of the more comfortable Hookah lounges that I've visited in the city thus far.  I came here to talk a little business with some friends in anticipation of the upcoming work week, and even came to the eventual realization that I might end up jumping off of a building if I'm still stuck working a 9-5 in the near future (OK, enough about my problems)..I found a clean place, a friendly staff, very comfortable seating, great music, and I even got a student discount (Sun and Mon only).  My only beef is the location, but hey, it might be a lot more convenient for you than I.  I could imagine them being slightly irritated if you were going to come in to hang out and just sit there without ordering anything, because the place is a little bit small.  Thats not a bad thing though.  I'll definitely be back.  For now, I'll call it one of the top 2 hookah bars that I've been to in Chicago.
