small shop jam packed with authentic syrian groceries and knick knacks, worth a pop-in!

I absolutely love this place! I live around the corner and get a number of my basics here. The two guys who run the place have been in the neighborhood for years and can give you all kinds of great neighborhood trivia. There are clearly a number of regular customers. The only downsde is that it is closed on Sundays, my usual shopping day (and Mondays as well) but even that wouldn't make me bring it down from 5 stars. Basically, I can get just about anything I need here. Turkish coffee - amazing (and they grind it for you and will mix it if you think Turkish is too strong); olives; cheese (dare I say it - I'd rather get the feta and labne here than anything at that other cheese store next door); raw nuts (much, much cheaper than any other South End places); awesome savory pastries, hummus, and assorted chutneys, dried fruit, etc.

Fab place to buy olives, huge variety, great quality and wee-little prices. Purveyor of Mustapha's line of Moroccan ingredients, which are hard to find in Boston. If you do go, try the olive oil crisps from Spain, both the sweet and savory varieties are delightful Keep in mind, they are closed on Monday

The first few times I passed by I mistook this gem for a junk shop. I never really thought it was open, until recently when the door is always ajar. Since my realization of this shop, I have been obsessed. This is a go to for every random, specialty item you may, or may not need! This items are not your usual grocery store fare, expect hard to find treats and other eclectic goods!

Yep, I am sure you will find all your Syrian grocery needs met here. But don't stop there! You need prepared Swedish lingon berries stirred in sugar, so sweet-tart and perfect on buttered pancakes? They've got them. Extra sharp Vermont cheddar? Who knew? Yep, they've got that too, along with great balsamic vinegars, Nutella®, English teas, Lindt chocolate, great esspresso beans, practically an aisle of olives, herbs, spices, and great prices on nuts. O yeah, give one of the Spanish fig cakes and a jar of fig jam a try (fantastic in turkey and ham sandwiches). Here is a vestigial reminder of the old South End, a family business, a group of brothers, at first a bit shy but over time they open up, and will help you out with suggestions. Hours are a bit arbitrary but sort of adds to the mystique.

This store is definitely a little odd. You can hardly read the name of the store on the sign above it and it's often closed on the most random days and times (you will know by the large padlock on the door). However, they do have a really interesting assortment of stuff. I particularly like their random selection of plates and kitchen goods. I saw this really awesome cheese serving platter there awhile back and have been kicking myself for not buying it while it was around. They also have a huge selection of hookahs. I've never actually bought any food here but they seem to have an interesting mix of things, including cheeses, which I will have to try sometime. It is a little run down, definitely not very well organized and sometimes a bit dusty, but it's super fun to browse.
