I went here today for the first time and was pretty disappointed. Lets start with the atmosphere, the decor is a little tacky and over the top. It's called Lava Java so as you can guess there's "lava" all over the walls of the place. It's a young crowd, so expect to see a lot of high school kids here. Also, if you don't like a smokey environment, this place is not for you. They don't even have a nonsmoking section, and half the people there are smoking hookahs. The service was pretty bad as well. The waitress brought our appetizers and food out at the same time, never refilled our drinks and a few of the menu items weren't in stock. Most of the the chicken sandwiches have garlic dressing, which I'm not a big fan of. I asked for mayo instead, and got a garlic smothered sandwich with a side of mayo. On top of that, you could see the entire wait staff goofing around instead of at least acting busy. The food was mediocre and overpriced. A chicken sandwich with fries cost $9. My buddies were equally disappointed and we don't plan on going back anytime soon.

We usually don't go here for meals, so I can't comment on the food. I can, however, comment on the desserts, hookah, and entertainment. The desserts are good, but nothing special. They have chocolate cake, cheescakes, tiramasu, etc. The lava java mix hookah with the orange head is AMAZING. It's a bit on the pricey side, but totally worth it. However, I was a bit disappointed last night because they didn't have the orange head (They ran out). That was the reason we went there! Also, on Saturday nights, they usually have an artist who sings and therefore there is a $5 cover charge. I usually enjoy the entertainment and it adds the Lava Java experience. I know some people think that the indoor decor is a bit much, but I love it! I love that they have the volcanic theme with lava lamps everywhere. But I'm cheesy like that :)And my most favorite thing about Lava Java are the waitstaff! They are always super nice and they always hook me up a little something extra when I go there. It may be little things like a scoop of ice cream with my dessert, but it totally makes me happy!Go check Lava Java out!!
