I took off one star because I'm not a smoker, and don't like the smell. Other than that, the Cafe is a great environment for people to hang out and get a pretty decent cup of coffee that won't break the bank. And apparently they recently started accepting credit cards, which is a major bonus for me! Their outdoor seating is also a nice perk for the Royal Oak area. I like the nescafe frappe. The baristas are also very kind.

Go here if you like small congested spaces filled with smoke from a bunch of teenagers who have nothing better to do then sit around here for hours after they get out of school. This place is loud, obnoxious, dirty and always busy due to all the high school kids. Not worth it at all, they don't even have anything worth paying more than a dollar for on the menu either.

This is my favorite cafe in Royal Oak, or anywhere else for that matter. They put together a motley collection of chairs - some that look like thrones, others look like they were stolen from a commune of hippies - which gives the place a strangely European feel to it. The Euro-disco always playing helps that feeling right along! They have hookahs, and I highly recommend getting one here. They're only $8, which is far cheaper than many places in town or elsewhere (isn't $12 pretty standard?). They have a good selection of tobacco, and always hook you up with at least 2 charcoal refills worth of it. The drinks here are fantastic, and a lot of them I've had nothing comparable anywhere else. My absolute favorite in this category is the frozen caramel. It's like a caramel slurpie... but better. I'm a real big fan of this place. Though it may not be a good cafe to study at, it's definitely a great cafe to relax in with friends to chat or play chess.

This is by far my favorite coffeeshop to actually sit and chill. I'm writing this from here. My friend is eating one of their sandwiches which is delicious. They have some coffee like everyone else and it's good, but what they have that everyone else doesn't have is Turkesh Coffee. I can turn it upside down and tell my fortune with the coffee goop at the bottom of it and everything! If I want a cigarette, I can smoke which is cool since I always assumed when I was growing up that coffee and cigarettes went together. I'm not even much of a smoker either. I never buy cigarettes. I almost never smoke them, but on occasion I have the occasional cigarette. Here I can do just that but the beauty is that right now I don't even have to smoke one to smoke one. The air is probably 20% smoke and 80% oxygen so that's fine! During the warmer months they open the patio and so it's not so much like that but whatever. The music is cool. The atmosphere is like... I dunno, probably like Victorian MishMash. It's the Opposite of going to a Starbucks or Caribou. It's got a European vibe. It's not super shiny and it's not stuffy. I can talk to people in here alot even if I have never seen them before in my life.Anyways - I find myself coming back to this place more than all the other coffeeshops and it is almost the ONLY coffeeshop I will actually sit and chill in. The rest I will usually grab-n-go. There's something about it, I suppose. It also ends up being my meeting spot in royal oak for first dates. I often have women I have met out and about meet me there. I dunno why, It just ends up being that way. One time I even planned to meet this girl at starbucks and she called me when I was on the way and She told me She was there.Really - I just want to add lastly - the bread on their sandwiches is effing amazing!Enjoi

After reading reviews, I decided to check this place out today. It was not too busy when I arrived, just a couple people on laptops. I ordered my usual iced caramel latte. It was reasonably priced and it came in a very tall glass! Knowing ahead of time the cafe allowed smoking, I sat outside at one of the four little tables. Somehow the smoke from the cigarettes inside still found me! I swear, being allergic to smoke just attracts it to me or something...I'm not upset by it or anything though, because I knew they allowed smoking. I wish I could have sat inside though, because it was pretty windy out today and my hair kept flying around and the pages of my book kept fluttering. Also, I'm not too familiar with the area, so I'm not sure if there was free parking anywhere near. Luckily, I found a spot with a half hour still in the meter. I'll probably go back sometime to get coffee again...It was good.

I love this place. The atmosphere is really laid-back and eccentric, with a strange collection of furniture and National Geographic magazines everywhere. The coffee's great, and they have free Wi-Fi. If you're a smoker, you'll love that this place is not just a "smokers accepted" establishment, but a "smoking encouraged" one. If you're not a smoker, take that as a warning. For daytime, I'd highly recommend coming here in the summer, since they open up all the windows and warm breeze fills the entire cafe. It also cuts the smoky smell a lot, so non-smokers may prefer coming here in nicer weather. At night, the place changes dramatically. The music gets louder, as does the crowd, and there's an abundance of hookah. It's sort of nice to have my favorite daytime coffee place changed into a chilled-out, but still rolicking, night environment.
