Indescribably delicious middle eastern food and loads of scrumptious vegetarian options. I'm always shocked by the generous portions sizes and love that I get leftovers the next day. The prices are more than reasonable for the quality, and if you get takeout, it's just as cheap and better for you than any fast food place along Washtenaw.Highly recommend: Hummus, lentil soup, eggplant sandwich, vegetarian green beans and the baklava.

This is some of the best Middle Eastern food you'll find out in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area.  We started with the appetizer sampler plate, which came with tabouleh, hummus, baba ghanoush, grape leaves, and falafel.  All of these were really good and tasty, and they seemed to be pretty freshly made.I also got a chicken shawarma sandwich.  This was really delicious and huge - it could definitely be an entire lunch on its own.  Even more impressive, it's less than $5, so it's a lot of great food for very little money.I also got a Turkish coffee, which was good and had a nice, strongly-spiced flavor. The food is good, the service is friendly and fast, and the prices are low. What more can you ask for?

I had lunch from Pita Pita today and it was really good! We ordered carry-out and I had the Hummus with Chicken Shawarma. I expected the dish to  come all wrapped up like a shawarma, but I got the bread separate and the rest of my dish mixed together in a box, still it was flavorful and tasty. My dish was big and I couldn't finish it, but my co-workers sandwiches were a little small. What I really liked was the accompanying salad - The Fattoush Salad. The dressing comes mixed into the salad and is perfect. The Salad was perfectly enveloped in the dressing, not too light or too overpowering. Its fabulous value for money. I am definitely going back to Pita Pita!

Let me just chime in, and second everything good people have said about this place.  The food is outstanding.  The name sounds so cheesy.  It reminds me of a bad mr. pita franchise.  That is so not the case.  The first time I went, I just got the lentil soup.  It was $2.50 and was a huge cup.  Not only that, it came with 4 pitas cut up and placed in sandwich bags.  The lentil soup was very tasty, hot (temperature), and a little spicy.  Today I had a chicken swarma sandwich.  The chicken was well seasoned, and I believe there are potatoes in it.  I appreciate the fact that they have two sizes of sandwiches.  For 6 bucks you could get a small sandwich and cup of soup.   This place has fantastic middle eastern cuisine.  Do not be put off by the name.

I hate to do this. Really, I do. Seriously.  But the last few times I've had take out, the food was ok.  Maybe they're distracted by the hut that's being built in their parking lot?  Or they have a new chef who doesn't quite understand you shouldn't have a wad of seasoning in the middle of a sandwich.  Makes it dry. Great food at great prices.  My fiance and I love getting food here, and I am, literally, obsessed…

Seriously? I don't get how anyone can rave about this food. I have been here a couple of times (mainly because I keep forgetting it's the place I really don't like), and each time their food has been incredibly greasy, and pretty flavorless. I've got some kind of chicken and rice combination, the chicken was ok (not a lot of flavor, but ok texture), but the rice was honestly inedible. Save your money and go to the other middle eastern place down washtenaw, much better.

Uh-mazing. Their platters are great, you get to sample everything and it's a great price. We usually get the combination platter for two, which is a bit more than $10 a person, but you have leftovers. It comes with pitas, hummus, several meats (kafta, shwarma, kababs, other things I can't remember the name of but that are delicious...), falafel, stuffed grape leaves, etc. I think it comes with soup or salad...none of which have impressed me, but that's not what I go for. This is my favorite restaurant in the area with this type of food, and it's affordable which is great too.

I was skeptical to say the least.  Pita pita?  Sounds like bad fast food (redundant, yes).  The outside looks shady, and like crap.  The inside is too bright and, when I went, it was almost vacant. Then we got the food.  Pita pita has some of the best middle eastern food I've had in A2, comparable to if not better than J-Garden, for one.  I liked the hummus and the yogurt salad, loved the fattoush, as others have seemed to, and all of the entrees were great.  I had the Stuffed Lamb with rice, which was some of the best cooked lamb I've had in a long time.  So tender, so yummy.I also tried the shish combo, and approve of all parts of it, especially the steak.  My friend had the chicken shwarma plate and said it was great.  The baklava was, well, standard baklava, which is to say absolutely delicious, and the Turkish coffee is as good as I've had it.  Yeah, we like to eat.The prices here were pretty reasonable, and the lunch sandwiches looked really cheap and are probably good as well.  Check this place out, please.

If you judge which restaurant is a person's favorite by how often she goes there, Pita Pita is, hands-down, my favorite restaurant.Everything I've tried there, from the hummus appetizer to the fattoush to the falafel sandwiches has been delicious. The veggie plate is also good, and the sandwiches of fried cauliflower wrapped in a hot pita with tabbouli are an all-time favorite. This is a great restaurant to bring both vegetarian and meat-eaters to; they can all find something to satisfy.Personally, I haven't tried the rice pudding at Pita Pita, but I hear it's an acquired taste. The staff says they make it traditionally with rosewater. This sounds lovely in theory, but a fellow diner was overheard to say this made the pudding taste like it was tainted with dish soap. So try the rice pudding at your own risk. There are only two reasons I'm giving this restaurant four stars instead of five:1) The ambience is nearly non-existent. Despite the display of hookahs for sale, the atmosphere is that of a generic diner for the most part, and the bathroom is a little on the grubby side.2) We generally find the service to be acceptable-to-good, but the last two times I've been there with my husband, the service was polite but quite slow. The first time we received slow service, the staff was trying to accommodate a large party seated on the patio. The second time, I overheard the waiter say they were trying to fill 10 delivery orders, in addition to customers inside the story, with a grand total of two wait staff, one of whom was also making deliveries. For the most part, though, service is fine at Pita Pita, and the food is tasty and inexpensive. My husband and I usually end up spending less than $20 for both of us to eat there, including the tip. A bonus of eating there regularly is the staff gets to know you and treats you like family. We once brought in some relatives to eat at Pita Pita, and the staff brought us complementary slices of watermelon for dessert. They're nice folks.

For being so close to the nation's largest concentration of Arab Americans, Washtenaw County is bereft of great Middle Eastern cuisine. But If you have a heavy craving and don't want to drive to Wayne County, Pita -squared is alright.Sandwiches - the falafel is quite good  (has a very pleasant minty kick), and comes topped with hummus and tabbouleh. I've also tried the eggplant and feta sandwich. Meh. Mushy. Sides - The fattoush salad was fresh but kinda bland. I was expecting more from the dressing and the pita strips were more stale than crunchy. The lentil soup was soothing on a cool night, though not enough lemon. Still, I appreciated the large serving that came with my entree.Entree - I've only tried the hummus with shawarma chicken. Hummus was creamy and well balanced but the chicken was dry and not all that flavorful. Overall, Pita Pita makes relatively healthy, well portioned food, but they majorly skimp on the spice. I get the feeling this is a cost-cutting measure in an awful economy. Bummer.
