I'd been meaning to try Caspian for months and finally did on the suggestion of friends at work. Though I have no working knowledge of Persian cuisine, I found the flavors reminiscent of both Mediterranean and Far Eastern cuisine (though closer to the former). Again on a coworker's tip, I tried the Koobideh (a skewer of juicy seasoned ground beef charbroiled and served with charbroiled tomato and imported basmati rice topped with saffron) as well as the Caspian Olives (a sweet mixture of olives tossed with parsley, garlic, walnuts, and pomegranates). The flavors in both the olive appetizer and the beef entree were quite intense, again reminiscent of some Mediterranean flavors I've tasted (though "more so"). Prices for lunch were reasonable...I'll be back soon.PS: I'd never been to a Hookah bar before...a couple of patrons were there smoking as we were leaving...I know it's all on the up and up, but college associations with Hookahs made it hard for me to escape the feeling that something illegal was going on in the smoking side (yes, my ignorance is showing yet again!).
