I had the chai smoothie and it was good. The service was a tad bit slow but it was friendly. I wish the space was a little bit bigger. It felt cramped in there.  This haunt is mostly occupied by UT students.

I've mainly been to LTF at night to study.  It has a bottomless cup of coffee, but at night the coffee often tastes like it's been sitting forever.  Another minus:  there was a barista there (dunno if she still works there) whom I observed handling money and all kinds of substances and then touching the business end of the spoon used to hold foam in the frothing pitcher during a pour.  I can't imagine a better medium for propagating pathogens than tepid milk.  The chai is too sweet (my kingdom for a nice SPICY chai--recommendations?) and the muffins and doughnuts are sometimes-stale and definitely from Costco (not a knock on Costco, but I could just buy those there myself and eat them at home if I wanted so-so muffins). Also, as other reviewers note, this place gets very crowded at night; it's also dark and suffers from a lack of electrical outlets.  It also shares its restrooms with the Groovy Lube next door.  Finally, in a rather incredible story, one of my peers had his textbooks stolen off a table there.  Someone literally ran into the place, snatched his books right out from in front of a friend with whom he'd left them, and ran out, leaving the poor girl who was watching the books to chase the thief down the street.  All in all, FAR from my first choice of coffee houses.

Finally got a chance to try this place, nice and comfortable lighting, and lots of very old jazz music, with some old and new rock and disco mixed in, while I was there music ranged from Billy holiday to bee-gees, pink Floyd, up to radio heads. Service was very friendly and down to earth but a coffee shop should be judged based on its coffee so ordered a Cappuccino, and this is where I was impressed, Barista did not pull the shot too long a common mistake at almost everyplace else and micro foam on top, very tasty. They did not disappoint. I'm glad that my first yelp review turned out to be a positive one.

Granted, I haven't been in there in a while, but frankly, I am shocked and amazed that these guys are getting such good reviews. The coffee is weak and flavorless, and when I went in there, I got some of the lousiest "I'm a stoned college kid and I don't know how to make you a decent sandwich", bottom of the barrel service in years. They messed up my order twice, ran out of ingredients and made me feel like I was being the pain in the ass. Poor.

I used to go here a lot before I moved across town. Great atmosphere (the music selection sometimes needs work/to be taken off repeat). Everything you need in a coffeehouse, including a decent Wi-fi connection. Open until 2 AM - yes please. On Fri/Sat around 7 PM it seems that the music takes over, so be aware that your date should like open mics before treading over. That's just my recollection from over a year ago, so double-check.

Ordered a "CAL CLUB" all the way and soup, expecting a premade sandwich, instead I got freshly, do you hear me FRESHLY sliced turkey on toasted bread and in place of mayonnaise and mustard, they used this heavenly avocado spread, couldn't believe that I just got this sandwich at a coffee shop, the soup was also one of the better tomato soups I've had, second only to la Madeleine. And Chilled b, you are correct the girl is very attractive. I didn't have any coffee, just a glass of wine, but since I'll be going back very soon I'll get to try that as well, hope its just as good as everything else.

I'll preface this by saying: I hate coffee shops since wifi became ubiquitous. I pine for the early nineties when hanging out at a coffee shop meant there was literally no one else there and you could fall asleep in some dimly lit basement with ratty couches like it was your living room. Now, coffee shops are filled with upwardly mobile iPhone clones, awkwardly sober first dates and frantic college kids trying to write an 11 page paper 19 hours before it's due. I hate trying to get from the counter to my seat and avoid knocking over precariously placed books, laptops, sobbing freshmen, etc. That said, Tazza does partially make up for this in atmosphere. It manages to retain some charm despite being packed to the gills with people who have yet to learn how to form a thesis or properly format a works cited page, and/or the ADD-addled corporate visionary closing the deal of a lifetime while sporting 7 pagers. The outside has a comparable feel to Spiderhouse, despite a different clientele, and this is where it yet again earns its score: I *hate* outdoor dining / "hanging out" sans purpose, yet managed to spend several hours here without murdering anything. Its prices are a bit all over the place, no doubt to confuse the uninitiated into spending more money than they're willing to. If you want to spend any length of time in this student-union-away-from-the-student-union, I recommend coming early.I give this four stars not for me, but for you: if you love coffee shops and think of them as your office away from home, this is sure to be a staple location.

I'm not much of a coffee expert, but i am very pleased with service and atmosphere of this place. Unlike other independent shops I've visited, here they seem to go out of their way to cater to the customers. I've been to other coffee places in Austin and there seem be habit amongst them to turn the music volume to the max, and some of their baristas seem to think they are god's gift to this earth, but not here, very friendly and relaxing.

I've visited this place periodically over the years and I must say I am impressed with how it has matured and evolved, and now has its own very unique feel and personality.  Drinks are strong, crew is very friendly and uniquely professional and not bad to look at either. They have beer and wine and even Turkish pipes. It's my hang out when I am here.

I had lunch here today with judo master Ben. He had the turkey sandwich with coffee, and I had the hummus (4.99) sandwich.  Both sandwiches came with a cup of tomato basil soup.  The place is nice and spacious.  They have free wifi, and apparently dancing and live music on weekends.  Ben says that they turn the place into a salsa dancing join at night, and that they crowd is pretentious and "serious" about the salsa dancing.  We devise ways to un-pretentious-fy the place.   The sandwiches took forever and a day, and when we got them, my soup didn't have  spoon.  Ben went to get me a spoon.  That took about 5 minutes, the barista said that there were no spoons.  Whatever, Ben and I shared the soup spoon.  No big deal.My sandwich was alright.  Strange, but edible.  It had hummus, cheese, lettuce, black olives, raw onions, mustard, and mayo.  I don't understand the mustard and mayo.  Hummus is already of a paste-like gloppy consistency.  There was no need for mustard and mayo.  Also, who mixes mustard and hummus?  That combo needs some re-thinking.   Tomato soup was um..... kind of gloopy and chunky-ish.  I'm not really sure how to accurately describe it.  After we finished, I dropped Ben off on campus so he could work on his thesis,  and instead of working on my dissertation, I wrote this review while pondering mustardy hummus.

Hot damn, this is THE absolute best chai soy latte in town.  It's heaven.I wish they had more comfortable chairs and more outlets. La Tazza Fresca is perhaps secretly my most favorite coffeeshop in town.  I love the fact that it's…

I just moved down the street from Tazza, went in last night, got me a glass of wine sat in their patio and positioned myself just so I can glance through the window at the very handsome dark haired man behind the bar until the storm blow me away , I'll be back, oh yeh I'll be back.

Good music and atmosphere, and drinks and food and all that jazz. Yeh. But this review is just about my experience this Sunday. Amazing, Went there this Sunday, place was packed, one guy working, very polite, he took at least ten orders (sandwiches and drinks) had them all ready in a few minutes, not one mistake, And even brought them out to us. Five star just for that.

A few nights ago I was walking the dog around 4 am, usually a dreaded task, as we were walking on Guadalupe I heard some familiar music playing, looked up, the sign said La Tazza Fresca, place was closed but the patio was open so I sat on the patio and listened to the music until 6 am, went back the next day and got some food and coffee from very polite and attractive lady behind the bar, I can see why she has such a following here. Hummus sandwich was delish and so was the coffee.

This place is one of the better independent coffee shops I've found in Austin.  It's not the closest place to where I work (so I can't visit nearly every day on our coffee breaks) but it's pretty close to where I live.  They have non-sucky completely open wireless, good music, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and the drinks are great. The Groovy Lube next door is a plus.  Drop off the car for an oil change, inspection or whatever and grab a nice latte or cappuccino.  They also have a few wines and I see some hookah's in the corner. Some of the better seats in the house have seen better days but are still very comfy. They also have live music (or they did a while ago) every now and then.

Go try one of their Mocha Shakes!!!  NOW NOW NOW!!!Better than that other place down the street that shall remain unmentioned, just a tad bit smaller. That's all I've got, I'm usually more constructive with reviews, but I don't really have anything to complain about, it's just grrrreat!  (Tony the Tiger style).

I'm surprised for such tiny place they have so much stuff, don't see a kitchen but they have oven cooked sandwiches, anyway don't care how they do it, but the roast beef melt was very delicious and came with a side of soup, coffee is very strong, definitely not for novice drinkers. And the girl behind the counter was very friendly. Bonus, they are open till 2 am.

First visit- DELISH veggie sandwich and an iced tea. Second visit- had to try a devishly dessert-like coffee: the german chocolate iced latte. Got some free entertainment, because a group was having a poetry reading. Sometimes a guy would play a bongo along with the recitation. The guy working didn't make us pay until after we finished our coffee, which was smart on his part because I tipped way better once I was satisfied with my sugary drink.Third visit- came back for that iced latte and asked about the hookahs. Less than HALF the price of the Kasbah hookah's down the street. Fourth visit in order. Always got good service!(it also cracks me up that starbucks is less than a block away on the same street)

I have to give these guys five stars just for service, having lived in Austin for along time I've gotten used to a certain attitude from coffee shop employees so much so that it doesn't even bother me anymore, but these guys are so nice, the guy behind the bar took our order, smiled, thanked us and then brought everything out to us and my wild raspberry iced tea and Brandon's fruit smoothie were delicious. I have a feeling that I'll be a regular here.

Went back today, luckily the machine was fixed, I have to agree with everyone else here, the dirty soy chai is one of the best I've ever had, also the guy remembered me from the last time when the machine was down and did not charge me for the drink, NICE! Excellent sandwiches, had a pastrami melt, I like the fact that they use no mayonnaise or mustard…

One of my favorite places to work.  Good atmosphere, great iced mocha, and comfortable... especially if you can snag one of the beat-up throne chairs in the corner.Yesterday Nina had my drink waiting for me when I got to the counter.  How cool is that?  Nina?  Do you read these?  I have a huge crush on you.  Thanks for finally remembering my name and for yet another delicious iced mocha... next time put your number on the napkin or spell it in steamed milk on the top of my drink.Do you "spell" numbers?

Sandwiched between a car repair shop and one of the busiest streets in Central Austin, Tazza Fresca's patio doesn't seem like an ideal place to relax or hang out. But oddly, the constant flow of traffic and CapMetro buses is actually kind of soothing. Even as I was drinking coffee outside in near 100 degree weather in the middle of July the ample shade and covering made it feel at least 20 degrees cooler.Any coffee shop that offers wine is a step above the rest and the place even doubles as a hooka bar on top. I haven't tried any of the food but the sandwiches and desserts all looked really good. I live close by, but with Epoch, Quack's, JP's, Flightpath, Spiderhouse, and Thunderbird all within close distance I'd never really considered this place. Now it's definitely towards the top of my list.

Now one of my favorite places to go to just chill or work on my laptop. Seats always available, big tables, free wi-fi, accessible outlets, and friendly environment. I also enjoy eclectic collection of paintings and decorations in the cafe. The coffee selection is pretty interesting -- such as got orange mocha, mocha berry, german chocolate cake, and ginger bread latte. I've only tried their jasmine iced tea, but seems like they carry some good kinds. Sometimes, you will find some newly added seasonal menu if you ask the baristas (from my experience, every single one of them were very nice, and true Austinites) Price is reasonable, and small in LTF is about the same size as Grande in Starbucks. Other than beverages, they've got some sandwiches, salads, crepes, etc. I've also seen people smoking hookah in the patio.
