This contemporary shack that bleeds artistry is more than just your run if the mill coffee shop. Housed is the neighbor of two Universities, this coffee shop has a comforting atmosphere.  The great service, wonderful food and great drinks even for people who drink coffee (like myself) and the artistic surroundings, is the perfect equation that make a great after school spot that's off the beaten path.

If I was still in college--or even high school for that matter--I would have really liked this place.  Fairly quiet, interesting art, free wi-fi (although wi-fi didn't exist when I was in college, I would have liked it!), neat-o used-to-be-a-house atmosphere, decent coffee.I am not in college anymore.  I felt OOOOOLLLLLLLDDDDDDD at Art Six.  I went because my man had a music gig there a while back.  They do not have alcohol!  Live music without a drinkie seems somewhat sacreligious.  Next time I will bring a flask.Oh, and the girl running the place (I think she was the owner) was a little snooty and didn't even thank the band (for playing for free!).  That made Art Six, a cool-seeming hangout place for studiers and/or 15-20 year olds, lose a star in my book.

A decent little coffee shop right around the corner from campus. The house is cute enough on the inside and outside, the coffee is decent-especially for denton, but i would rate it more or less at a Starbucks level. The interior is decorated with plenty of couches and a couple tables as well- it seems mostly designed for socializing and it would be easy to pull a study group together here, there is even a swing on the patio. The art posted on their walls is a nice touch and its available for purchase which gives it more local authenticity. My only complaints are that it looks like their raided local garage sales for their dishes and the prices are a little high for the small portions.

I don't get this place. I mean, it' s just a house that serves coffee and PBJ sandwiches. I could make those things at home. People like it here because they can sit on the couches while using the free wireless access. I could do that at home too. What's the appeal? I guess some people like to look at the art on display or listen to the musicians who  play here. If I was really organized I could probably arrange something like that at my house too, ya know.

I really liked art six until i started talking to the people who worked there. I hate it when people are snobby, It's so weird, and comes out of nowhere. The iced coffee is good. The atmostphere is great, as an art student, because I get to see my friend's work at their first solo shows there, etc. The hours suck though.

I've been a patron of Art Six for a few years. One day my friend Racheal and I were driving around Denton and soon became lost. We saw the Art Six sign decided to drop in. It seems rather lucky to stumble upon such a cute and magical little coffee shop, but it happened. Thank the Lord! We share quite a few memories there.I was a student at the University of North Texas and lived in Denton for about a year. So, I made my way around different coffee houses. What makes Art Six such a nice spot is their atmosphere. It's nestled in a neighborhood next to the UNT campus (off Scripture St. and Bryan St). It almost looks like any other house if it weren't for the sign out front. Art Six inhabits an old house where a family was once murdered. Talk about creepy, right?! It may or may not be haunted, but one thing's for sure: beautiful artwork hangs on the walls. The artwork usually changes every month or so, featuring local artists. I think of Art Six more of a gallery than an coffee house... mostly because....If you're a hard core coffee drinker, like myself, that's where Art Six hugely disappoints. They do not offer french presses. They offer their brewed coffee in gross push down carafes, and it's usually not very fresh. The baristas can sometimes be engaging, depending on who you get. And, depending on which barista you get, you can get a tasty cafe latte. Their specialty is sugary, syrupy drinks with creative, cutesy names. Most of the time, though, a "Better Than Sex Latte" is way too sweet for my liking. Upon my latest visit I ordered an espresso macchiato, which was pretty tasty! However, their lack of quality coffee is nearly unacceptable. Art Six prides itself for being a "mom and pop" coffee house... but don't put enough emphasis on the coffee. At times the baristas can seem arrogant and elitist. I give Art Six a C. Although their atmosphere is the best and a personal favorite, their lack of quality brewed coffee takes away a bunch of points. Their non-coffee beverages on the menu far outnumber their coffee menu, which is embarrassing. Some good news, though, if you like to smoke hookahs, they offer them! They open pretty late in the morning, but stay open till midnight (except Sundays).

Art Six is great coffee at a decent price.  It is located a short walk from the north part of the UNT campus (and more importantly right next to where I park my truck).  It is run by a few young entrepreneurs (originally 6 but fewer now), and they have done well for themselves.  There are many different types of tables and chairs that add a home-grown feel to the place that is quite pleasing. The coffee itself is very good, fair trade coffee. They usually have a couple of varieties, but they always keep house brewed and it's a good blend. As the name will probably tell you, there is local art displayed around the shop.  There are paintings on the walls, as well as small jewelry displays and often they have guests or musicians (and their CDs).I believe they stock Hookah tobacco for use in the back porch area, which is fenced in.  I've actually never been back there so I can't say anything about that. The hours are a bit strange.  Usually coffee shops are open fairly early but this one is open at around 9 I believe.  I understand it's because they don't make their money off of regular coffee, so it's understandable, just a bit annoying. Also there is almost always only one person making the drinks so if you want coffee be prepared to wait for that person ahead of you who wants something with 18 steps and 53 ingredients. There is food there too.  The baked goods are great, many of them are bought from the Ravelin bakery, which does great work.  There are also bagel sandwich things you can eat for a meal, and people seem to love them (I've never had one).

Of all of the small coffee shops in Denton, this is by far my favorite one. The drinks are great and reasonably-priced, the bagels are delicious, and the atmosphere is wonderful. It also helps that it's walking distance from UNT. My favorite place to go sit and sip coffee in Denton by far.

The only unique thing about this place is the fact that it's the Art Six, which basically means they cater to the artsy kids. You wouldn't find much other types of people. It's got a homey, snuggy feel to it. They have art shows and a couple of other things, (movie screenings? I think I've heard that one before). Great selection of coffee (italian beverages are offered)It's out of the way and less crowded than the other places. Good for internet, (of course on the square now you can get free wi-fi anywhere). But perfect if your first choice was crowded. Parking sucks. I always feel kind of awkward parking in front of people's houses.make sure if you'd like wi-fi to ask for it before you go. Especially if it's your first time.
