Probably 3.5 stars.  I was intrigued when I read a review about a white girl owning the establishment - this might be true, but apparently the same Chinese chef has been working there for the last 18 years.  It's pretty good - I would come here more often if everything wasn't $8+  - it sort of then competes with Pei Wei, which I consider a little better.  My shrimps were nice/fresh/large and the veggies were still crisp, which was good.

After reading some of the reviews for this place we stopped in last night. I'll be honest... the chicken was a bit too tendon-y for my taste. I ordered the sesame chicken and my girlfriend got the Betty's Best Around chicken and we were not that impressed. The sauce on the sesame chicken was good (not too cloyingly sweet), but the chicken consistency was lacking enough for me to put down the fork well before I normally would. The place is open until 4AM!!! and that's amazing and I'll definitely try the beef soon to temper the review a bit.

Oh god, there is nothing better than Betty's when it's 4am and I'm completely craving something that is not good for me.  The food is quite tasty, and they deliver REALLY late.  That's pretty much all it needs to get 5 stars from me.My friend is so in love with the fried dumplings that she never orders an entree when we call out - she just gets 2 orders of dumplings.  I never said my friends and I were healthy people.  They never disappoint.  The food is always hot when it arrives, and it arrives QUICK.  I timed once - my doorbell rang 25 minutes and 46 seconds after I hung up the phone.

Really, no one has reviewed Betty's Best Around? Am I the only one that calls these guys at two in the morning (Fri-Sat only) for a delicious and healthy meal of egg rolls sweet and sour chicken and pot sticklers five minutes before I go to sleep? I've been calling Betty for years, when I do, they answer their phone on the 50th ring and they always sound stoned. I imagine the employees sitting around a wok, smoking dope while staring at the phone saying "I'm not going to answer it, you answer it."  The one thing I'll give these guys is that their fast and friendly... real friendly. "Hey man, sorry it took so long; I thought "Main Street USA" was on the other side of Greenville." I'm not kidding; it was about 20 minutes after I ordered. BONG!A few reasons I still use Betty's is that the food's not bad, sometimes a little greasy but that's what you're looking for in the early hours of morning. But the main reason is, I know where the food comes from. It was late one night when a few friends and I ordered a little take out from a menu I found on the door knob, I don't remember the name but it was pretty bad and the conversation turned to "Have you ever actually ever been to the actual restaurant this food came from?" And it dawned on me; I'm willing to say that 99 percent of us are quick to judge a restaurant by the way it looks from the outside, but if someone puts a menu on your door knob you couldn't careless where the food comes from as long as you didn't have to get off your ass to go get it. Think about it, some guy could be sitting out in his garage with a heating plate, a Fry Daddy and a cell phone taking orders while the neighborhood pet population decreases or even worse "The Moo-Shu Pork Is People!"I know that there are better places for Chinese food, but as for delivery at 2:AM I can always count on Betty's.

Food:I can't believe I'm saying this, but the food here is pretty decent. After complaining about getting dizzy from the Hookah place down the street (Kismet Lounge), one of my guy pals suggested this place. True to his words he was spot on. What is interesting is the woman who owns the hair salon next door actually owns this restaurant. She happens to be Caucasian and owns a Chinese Restaurant! I'll let you chew on that for a bit. So when I heard about this, I was a little bit apprehensive.  I had more shares of Chinese/Vietnamese food considering my background. Yes, it probably doesn't compare to authentic, but it's definitely better than some Americanize Chinese food  chains I've had. Granted, I ate around 1:00 am, but the rice was pretty good and the orange beef was better than standard. A-OK when you are on lower Greenville, and you want to eat somewhere to sober up.Atmosphere: The place is pretty small, but we came in around 1ish in the morning and the waitstaff were even spinning. I am pretty sure this is the norm. Eat and sober up, buddy! A cool place to end the night.

I am really starting to not trust Chinese food reviews from Dallasites. Betty's is NOT the best around. They use very low quality meat in their dishes. It really overshadowed everything else about the meal when I had to pick stringy or hard things out of my mouth after every bite. The vegetables did not seem fresh; they were soggy and completely overpowered by the heavy sauce. Overall, not a good experience and I doubt I'll be going back.

Greasy? yes.  Authentic Chinese?  No.Taste good?  Hell yeah! They delivered pretty quickly and the food was good...  can't ask for much more.  Please keep in mind I am not real picky about Chinese food and really only order pretty simple stuff.  The best is they deliver very late.
