This is one on my favorite places in town!! I go almost every Tuesday night (where almost everything is only $2!!). My friend and I go and we usually spend $16 between the two of us ($8 each) and we are FULL...just because they are tapas doesn't mean they aren't filling. I recomend the chicken salad, lamb rolls, veggie dolmas, hummus, and the saffron rice. I have a craving for Izmir after writing this review...YUM!!!

ate here last night (and several other times)....5 stars for the hummus and pita bread, 3.5 stars for the rest of the food.   The pomegranate shrimp is way too garlicky...but the chicken kabob was good (and that is saying alot bc i hate chicken).   Greek salad and Turkish salad are both pretty good too.   I also really like the waitstaff...very nice people.

We ate here on Saturday night and there is no doubt that the Hummus is the best in Dallas.  There were six of us and we ate a late dinner with no wait for $135 with some beers and wine.  We split a couple of the platters.  I loved the lamb roll, the chicken was very tasty, the saffron butter phrase and the tabbouleh and tzaziki were also good.

Outstanding place! I'm not sure if mama is still doing the cooking there but it sure tastes like someone's mother is. Appetizers are good but the real experience are the grilled meats and vegetables. Vegetarians... if there's one time to go off the vegan path this is it! You'll thank yourself in the morning.

My favorite Middle Eastern place in Dallas. But you have to make a reservation so save yourself a headache and make one! I love the hummus here - it's smooth and creamy, not dry and pasty. LOVE IT. I have had all of the veggie dishes here and they are all fantastic. The dishes are tapas style so they are not supposed to be huge portions. Not *everything* has to be Texas-sized to be good. A great place to go for two people, or a group, if you want to be able to try even more things!

I love the hummus, the veggie and meat platters, Russian chicken salad, pita bread, lamb wraps, Greek salad, meat dolmas, good wine selection, fun music, friendly service...always a great experience.

Hands down my favorite hummus in town.  Creamy and garlicky goodness.  I only go on Tuesday night, which is $3 tapas night, otherwise dinner for 2 is around $60.  My other favorite on the menu is the Russian chicken salad, while a universal crowd-pleaser is the lamb rolls.  The scene draws a 20-30 something crowd, and conversation can sometimes be a lost cause.

My sister wanted to eat Arabic food so I figured, "Hey, lets just go here." Well, we weren't expecting this place to be so Dallas-fancy. They even charged for vallet and parked our friend's car right by the street, across the neighborhood with free parking. This cafe isn't laid-back, it's chi-chi. In other words, all of the overdressed yuppies come here. (One of them, sitting with a large group of coifed young-professionals, said, "Hi, I'm Debra and I have huge areolas. Come sit here!") Also, Cafe Izmir has this we-serve-sushi vibe even though they just serve tapas. The tapas, by the way, are really small. My sister was craving falafel but the plate just had two. Two! They used to give falafel away for free in the Middle East, when we lived there, while waiting for you main meal. The roasted eggplant and the juicy chicken kabobs were tastey, but the hummus was watery and everything else was just okay. Overall, we enjoyed the romantic atmosphere sitting in the patio, but we might not come again.

Had a nice date w/ the hubby last Friday here.  We split the dinner for two which included lots of food a bottle of wine; grand total = $50 (plus tax tip).  They give you a ton of food a nice variety.  We were stuffed enjoyed trying everything.  The best items were the lamb wraps, the beef kebabs, the HUMMUS!, the ziziki sauce fresh assortment of veggies.  It was delicious.  Next time, we will just order off of the menu as it was probably too much food, but still a good deal.

APPETIZER: (or sole thing I would eat!)5 stars is purely for the hummus at this place! My friend (who's a native) took me there when I visited and we ate a ton of food. However, I really only remember the hummus and the pita bread. I could live on this stuff. I've never had hummus that seemed "whipped" before...that's how light it was...and believe it or not, it travels well! She brought some out (with the pita) and while it's not quite as bang on as if you have it there, it certainly brought back the memories of the fantasmic tastes I experienced on that ever changing night. You Dallas people hands down have the BEST hummus I've ever tasted in your back yard!!

If you go on Tuesday night for Tapas night... make sure you make reservations!!!  We ended up waiting for about 30 minutes for a table.I will echo the other reviews that this place has, by far, the best Hummas you ever put in your mouth.I loved the grilled veggies, the cheese plate, the grilled portabello and the tzitziki sauce.  The beef kabob wasn't as near as good as the chicken. For the three of us, we racked up a $70 bill on $3 Tapas night.  Good thing we didn't go on a regular night.  It was also a really good thing that I'm the only one in my group who is good about eating LEFTOVERS!

This place was pretty good. The food was good, but the atmosphere was loud and crowded. The Hummus as amazing - but has lots and lots of garlic so bring strong breath mints and make anyone you plan to kiss that night eat the hummus too so they don't notice your vampire-fighting breath. The cheese plate was pretty good - the fig- things are yummy - but it says it comes with olives and it doesn't - but they'll give you olives if you ask about it. The grilled portabello was AMAZING. (my fave thing there). The chicken kabob was good too - nice seasoning. The rice was a total waste as was the beef kabob. The sangria was OK - nothing to write home about though. The place is really small - only valet parking - the seating is crowded, but we went on Tuesday which is when all the tapas are discounted - which probably explains the crowdedness - but also helped the bill be more reasonable too.

This place is great. The cucumber/tomato plate is tasty. The Hummus is amazing, best in Dallas. The only downside is parking and usually a wait for a table. If you are with a big group, they ask to order meat or veggie and they just bring stuff outGo to Cafe Izmir market down the street if you are in a hurry or just need take out.Tues. night is 1/2 price tapas but expect a huge wait. Kismit is next door but it's very cheezy...

Love this restaurant.  It is a great place to go with groups so that you can try more stuff.  The falafel is wonderful and the lamb offerings are also worthy of praise.  The atmosphere is definitely hip and modern, so don't expect low-key.  Reservations are recommended if you don't want to wait forever.  The service is mixed and the noise level can be a little loud depending on your location inside the restaurant.  However, this was a great place to go with a group to venture out and try new things.

Stopped by here after shopping at The Buffalo Exchange, and was impressed. We were more there for a snack then a full dinner, so we just had the pita and hummos, a  ground beef and goat cheese roll thing, and chicken kebab. The hummos, as everyone has said, is the standout. It's slightly spicey, which is really fantastic. YUM. And the pita is warm with little charred grill marks that add the perfect flavor. The chicken kebab was wonderfully tender and well-seasoned. The service was great. I reallllllllly want to go back and try their Turkish coffee and baklava.

This is a great cafe with a cozy atmosphere and fantastic food. The staff are friendly and the dinning area is clean. I had the Falafel sandwich which was really good/fresh tasting. They have a surprisingly big menu for such a small place so I think everyone should be able to find something to eat.

I lived about 4 blocks from here for a year and a half and never went here.  I'm kicking myself for the wasted days of non-Izmir-Hummus-eating.  Really, the hummus is awesome.  We did the Tuesday Tapas thing, so it was packed.  Thankfully we had reservations, so we didn't have the wait that had so many looking forlorn at the door.We got lamb roll, hummus, tzaziki, beef and chicken kabobs, grilled veggies and an assortment of other things to taste and they were all good.  The standout, surprisingly, was the chicken.  It was intensely flavorful and moist.  Also good was the Pomegranate Grilled Prawns which had a sour tangy start but then was mellowed by the garlic, if that's at all possible.  It was cooked perfectly, which many places can't do for some reason. The downside:  the place was ridiculously hot and cold.  The heat would start blowing, literal gusts of hot air and the shut off and the place would get extremely cold.  It was loud, but not to the point you couldn't have a conversation.  Valet is $5.  Who charges for valet in Dallas?  Maybe it's me, but it seems weird.  Or maybe I don't get out enough. We'll definitely be back!!!

Great place to go to for tapas!  Cafe Izmir is a small establishment so you are best going in groups of 4 or less.  My absolute faves are the Russian Chicken Salad, the Sangria, and Falafel just to name a few.  Food is great, the people are friendly, and they are huge supporters of my animal rescue group; Animal Rescue of Texas.  What more could a girl ask for?Parking is scarce, as are most places on Greenville, so it's fun to go over to Kismet Lounge for a hookah after your fill at Cafe Izmir.

I was in town for work last week and some people from the office took us out to Cafe Izmir for half price Tapas and Wine. The place was packed so try to get a reservation in advance. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. I enjoyed the quail and the grilled shrimp. After dinner we went to the lounge next door for the same wine special and a mango Hukah (sp?)All in all a unexpected fun time on Tuesday night.

Although the falafel was lacking, the hummus was the best that I have had in Dallas.  Creamy, Delicate, and not chunky--the hummus was the first thing to go, eaten so quickly that there was actually pita left over. The grilled veggies were tasty--with the husband raving about the marinated mushrooms. Everything ordered was richly flavored and there were a ton of vegetarian options to choose from. Saving room for dessert we tried their special--a sundae made with baklava, pound cake, and strawberries, as well as their chocolate cake--both of which were quite large. We would definitely go back, but make sure to look at their website for drink specials, and events such as on Saturday night they have a Spanish guitarist play.

Yummmm! We stopped off here late in the evening after seeing a show at the Granada, and boy am I glad we did (it was a Tuesday, too!). We ordered a bunch of different tapas and had fun trying them all. The hummus came out first--OH MY GOD. It was amazinggggg. So smooth and creamy--and the pita bread that came with it wasn't half bad either! You can definitely ask them for refills, which we did, of both the pita and the hummus. I got the Russian salad, which I was not expecting to resemble chicken/potato salad, but it did, but it turned out to be great anyway! I'm a picky eater and I ate basically all of it. I also tried some falafel, and some rice, and a piroshki--all AMAZING. When the bill came it was $50 for a group of five. That's pretty damn good for all the food we got. I can't wait to go here again! Sooo good.

Yes.  This is THE Hummus.  You've had hummus, but you haven't had THE Hummus until you've had Izmir hummus.  The perfectly silken texture, the just right bit of garlic.  They have a take out just down the street.  Buy all you can carry/afford.The rest of the meal is pretty darn great too, and it's a fun neighborhood spot in a fun neighborhood.  Just say "meat" or "veggie" and let 'em load you up.

I've celebrated countless occasions and non-events here. I keep coming back because I'm never disappointed in the eye-popping art (for sale, rotating shows) or the food and service. What you can count on at Cafe Izmir:a warm greeting and generally attentive servicenice wine BTG pricesan excellent assortment of grilled goodies and sidesMy top 3 thrills in dining here:(1)Luscious hummous, hands-down the best in the city; actually, the best I've ever tasted.(2)Arguably the best pita bread around--soft and fluffy (3)Magnificent meat--you never really have to decided between beef or lamb; you get both, always perfect. An inside tip: always order the meat or veggie dinner, rather than the "tapas" off the a la carte menu.

Like some of the other reviewers, I agree that the humus is AWEsome.   Their homemade sangria kicks ass too.  Get a pitcher of it!  You won't be disappointed.Tuesday is definitely the night to go for the $2 tapas menu.  Get there early or make reservations, because the place will be packed.  Don't fret, though if you do have to wait.  You can mosey next door to Kismet and have a cocktail or two while you wait on a table. The food is consistently good, as well as the service!  The piroshki's are my favorite item on the menu.  If you leave room for dessert try the Greek Cake.  It's grilled vanilla pound cake topped with vanilla ice cream, strawberries and whip cream.  So good!If you happen to go here on your birthday they will give you a free bottle of wine to take home with you!  You can't beat that!

Hmm..I would like to do something fun after work....but it's Tuesday, what is there to do on Tuesday?? Office buddy chimes in...Cafe Izmir has $2 tapas on Tuesday, ya know....Life is now...good.I've taken part of the Tuesday night tapas deal many times, and so many factors add up to make the occasions so splendidly fantabulous.....this place has just got it right. The host is SO nice....talks to you like he's known you forever. POINT. The atmosphere is movin' and a shakin', but yet, you still feel very cozy and intimate in your big booth or table and just enjoy the surroundings....full of local art for sale, or just for admiring. POINT. They have a special on red wine, $14 a bottle on this night...AND a sangria by the pitcher special. POINT. And the food? Well, hands down the best Hummus in Dallas..and I've had a lot of hummus. The pita bread is warm and SO soft...and plentiful. POINT POINT POINT. I suggest the kabob tapas, grilled asparagus, Jasmine rice...well, just try everything..it's only $2!! Now you can never say you dont have anything fun to do on Tuesday. If that's not enough, afterwords head over to Ozonna's for their Tuesday Improv show, Section 8....if that's not enough.....move to Vegas ;)

When the Izmir Market Deli clawed its way to the top of the restaurant list on Dallas Yelp last week, I decided to meet one of my friends there and try it out.  As a result of my horrible navigation skills/inability to focus, I ended up at Cafe Izmir instead of actually making it down to the deli.  In this instance, my mistake ended in a tasty meal and a fantastic dining experience.  Contributions to this delicious dinner made by the following:Uno- our server (Danny?): I enjoy chatty, friendly people, and this dude exuded niceness, but wasn't overbearing.  As I waited for my friend to arrive, he checked to see if I needed anything a few times but didn't persist.  He explained the tapas vs. family style orders and was really accommodating when we asked for meat dolmas instead of veggie ones (which we didn't get charged extra for, props for that).Dos- the hummus: yes, it is as good as everyone has raved.  Super creamy texture + perfect amount of garlic = mouthful of chickpea lovin'. My only qualm is that it is a bit on the thin side, but this isn't really a huge gripe.  Definite A+ for this ishTres- that's "three" in SpanishCuatro- lamb wraps: not gonna lie, these babies rocked my life. The meat was juicy but not sopping with grease, the tortillas were fresh and tasty and the pico/onion mixture made it way too delicious to handle.  Lamb isn't something I eat on a regular basis, mostly because I have visions of Shari Lewis haunting my dreams, but I have no regrets about scarfing down my wrap like there was no tomorrow.Cinco- pitcher of sangria: $15 on Thursday evenings. How could we not hit that up?  Some of the better sangria I've had in Dallas, and split between two people, it just kept getting more and more delicious.  Seis- pita bread: so hot and so fresh, for $2, we had enough to last our entire meal.  If I was a weaker person, I would've eaten the whole basket with the dish of hummus as my whole dinner.  Fortunately, I possess a superhuman amount of self restraint, so we avoided that situation entirely :DOk, now for the average to not-so-good elements of the meal:-The falafel was very dry and simultaneously greasy?  Not sure how this happens, but the flavor was ok.  I'd choose something else over this next time fo sho.-Meat dolmas= disappointing.  Something about them just tasted off, and the filling had the appearance of a weird sausage riddled with rice. HOWEVER...-the veggie dolmas which we didn't actually order, were actually pretty good, normally I'm not a huge fan of the meatless ones (heh), but these had good flavor and textureFinally, one of my biggest turn-offs: valet parking hell.  The lot in front of the Cafe is minuscule and the entrance sneaks up on you when you're cruising down Greenville.  Then, if you turn in the street right past the building, you can't enter the lot from that direction.  If you don't valet, prepare for a hike, the streets are mostly no parking from 4 pm to 6 am.  However, if you're a dumbass like me, you'll misread the posted signs as 4 pm- 6pm, and you'll park two feet from the giant NO PARKING sign.  Fortunately, I was a lucky dumbass and avoided getting towed to sketchville, three blocks past creeptastic lane. For $2 tapas on Tuesdays, glasses of sangria and heavenly hummus, I think I can overcome my aversion to valet parking.  It's a nice dinner destination even if you don't eat no meat: it's ok. they make lamb.

My review is based on only one visit to the place.I was here last week with my wife and cousin and ordered 2 Meat Dinners and an extra order of Hummus.  It was enough for three adults and toddler.  First the Hummus came out and one plate seems just about right for one person.   I think the reviews over rate their hummus, I know how good hummus is supposed to taste and their's is good but not heavenly.   The meats were cooked well and had mild hints of spices.  I liked the ambiance, the dining area is like an enclosed porch with a strip of party lighting on the walls.   Their Turkish coffee is really good, it really tastes like Turkish coffee and not some hot black liquid that some cafes like Cafe Istanbul like to pass as coffee. Parking is not easy especially on a Friday night.  We did not find any street parking and ended up valet parking.  Valet is a mandatory $5 so make sure you carry cash.  I'm giving 5 stars to their food but only 4 stars for ambiance because the music was too loud.  We got the corner table and the speakers were near my ear and were annoying my 2 year old.

Family run, fresh ingredients, wonderful recipes. Basically the best way to go is to order veggie or meat and the food starts pouring in. When in a group or couple order both. The best hummus, the best babaganouj and pita. Grilled peppers, tender meats and wonderful hand rolled dolmas. Plenty of daily specials for this very intimate restaurant. makes for a wonderful first date. Not too pricey and a great wine selection. Downside, bad parking. You are forced to pay for valet six feet from the front door. But this goes without saying in this lower Greenville neighborhood (almost across the street from Granada). Say hi to the matron of the family, found in the kitchen most evenings. beautiful and funny woman. the sister is a half block away in their take out deli. Once on a particular busy night we sat in the little alcove outside just near the valet stand. it was very romantic and we got to watch all the people come and go outside. This has been on of my most beloved Mediterranean spots in Dallas for years. A good friend of mine and I would venture here every Tuesday for $2 tappas! The service is always fast and I love to support a good family business. The pitchers of sangria are always a hit with a group of 3 or more. With the option of $2 tappas on Tuesdays you can go pretty crazy with ordering the side portions of food and just splitting them amongst the table. Some of these items include, hummus and pita, grilled portabello mushrooms, baked sweet potatoes, tabouli, ziziki, babaganoush, eegra, falafel, saffron rice and more. Proteins are also available such as chicken kabobs, lamb chops, and Pomegranate Shrimp. These items of course are a little more expensive, but throwing it all together to make a complete meal is always fun!I had a birthday party of 18 people at this tiny little place a few years back and the staff did a great job of accommodating though we were such a large group. Also, if you are interested in trying the food here but not dining in they have a deli just a block away where you can easily and quickly order items to go.

These items of course are a little more expensive, but throwing it all together to make a complete meal is always fun!I had a birthday party of 18 people at this tiny little place a few years back and the staff did a great job of accommodating though we were such a large group. Also, if you are interested in trying the food here but not dining in they have a deli just a block away where you can easily and quickly order items to go.Family run, fresh ingredients, wonderful recipes. Delicious. A wonderful dinning experience in Dallas where everything from the food to the staff and owner are truly looking out for your absolute best. I would recommend Izmir to anyone looking for a wonderful night out in Dallas. The Hummus, rice, and Turkish coffee are the best I have had in years. Everything else was wonder but do not miss the hummus and Turkish coffee. Nice people who don;t take themselves too seriously and have good customer sense.Very good hummus, sweet potatoes, quail...Should maybe make some progress on the sangria.Recommended.My review is based on only one visit to the place.I was here last week with my wife and cousin and ordered 2 Meat Dinners and an extra order of Hummus.
