The owners of this place could be on a Seinfeld episode. They don't believe in "service with a smile". They give you food, a place to park your butt, and that's all.I would guess they hate being in the food biz, but somehow this is what they are stuck doing. If you give them a credit card they will charge you extra. And don't expect anything for free. If you can overlook their scowls, you will enjoy some great gyros.

Lunch with kids went well. My vegetarian son liked his falafel while Princess and I opted for the buffet. We loved the eggplant, liked the chicken and lamb. Salad and hummus were fine. Authentic Greek? Yeah, tasted like it to me.It's true, the waiter/host/busboy/owner? is a bit rough but he got us what we needed when we needed it and prices were about right. At high-noon I think there were people at three tables - perhaps being next door to a hair salon makes it scary from the outside. They cater, which is a thought.

I'm a big fan of certain types of food (i.e. Chinese, Indian, Greek) but have been having a hard time since moving to the center of the USA finding good, local places to eat at. I still haven't figure out why since there are so many non-Texan's and even non-American's in Texas. Right? So I found It's Greek To Me by starting a thread in http://chowhound.com and must say that I was pretty satisified. I'll agree that they aren't the friendliest of mom and pop places, and the decor is nil, but I'm more interested in eating the food. If you don't want to eat there, you can call ahead and pick it up. They also have a lunch buffet, but I didn't try it out. I looked it over and it seemed decent. Perhaps next time.I don't work out in Lewisville so I haven't been back in a while, but I'm totally craving some salad and gyros right now. It's almost worth the drive out. But I'm sure I could find something better that is closer to home.

I made a rule tonight after eating at It's Greek to Me - Never determine where to eat based on a coupon you have lying around the house. Really good restaurants don't need coupons. Really good restaurants get lots of great reviews on Yelp (how's that for a shameless plug?). If I would have followed that advice I wouldn't be stuffed full of marginal Greek food, and my wallet would be a little fatter than it is right now. At least my coupon was pretty solid or I would have been really upset. There's nothing terrible about It's Greek to Me, but there's nothing that really makes it stand out either. The salad was the definitive lifeless iceberg lettuce salad, with the only interesting part being the one olive that was so carefully placed in the middle to give it that "authentic" feel. My Gyro Dinner lived up to my minimum expectations, but they didn't give you enough yogurt sauce to make every bite as flavorful as it might have been. The rice and green beans were decent. My wife's entree, a mixed plate of chicken, steak, and ground beef, was acceptable as well. The atmosphere at this place is about as interesting as a McDonald's bathroom. Absolutely nothing was eye catching or creative, and we literally ate our meal next to a vacuum. The music could have used a little work too. At one point they started playing Mexican pop instead of whatever Greek nonsense they were playing earlier. With nothing to set them apart, It's Greek to Me how places like this stay in business. Easily one of my more forgettable dining experiences in DFW.

I'm surprised to see all the comments on the service. One of the things that I initially enjoyed about the restaurant was the owner made me feel like family after the second visit. Gyros and lamb are great. And it's a Hookah, not a bong.....

When you get the bill, you're going to regret it.We went for the buffet because it was obvious the server didn't want to have any food cooked by the way he pressured us to have the buffet. There was one kind of salad and then maybe about 5 other things to choose from - nothing special. There was no decor - just plain white walls, the servers were just below rude, almost as if it was an inconvenience for us to be there, and there's something disturbing about trying to eat dinner while watching a dozen guys at a table taking hits off a bong. Seriously. They were smoking from a bong. You might not want to explain that to your kids during dinner. How much would you expect to pay for this magical culinary experience? $10, $15? How about almost $25 with a soft drink per person. That's right - that tiny buffet of nothing and a drink. My friend and I could have kicked ourselves because we could have had a really nice steak and seafood for that amount of money.I was going to give them 2 stars but after re-reading my review I had to give it one because I will never go back and tell others not to, also. It may be Greek to them, but it's crap to me.

I've been here a few times in the past and have ordered wraps off the menu and they have been great! Last night we were in the mood for some Greek so we went to our local Greek eatery and were starving. We opted for the buffet which ended up being a big disappointment. The regular salad was brown and the spinach salad was drenched in something white...I said yogurt, he said ranch but I think we were both wrong. Most of the vegetable sides were very vinegary. The chicken was not cooked all the way. The gyro meat was great though...the diamond in the rough. The service was good so I'm not sure why people say the owners not friendly. They also have hookah if that is your thing. I am giving the extra star since the menu items are good. Steer clear of the buffet!!

I went to athens for a month last summer and have been craving authentic greek food since. My husband and I tried the lunch buffet last week and were pleasantly surprised. Great Moussaka. The tsatziki was a little runny for me but it was pretty good overall.

Stopped in for lunch and went with the buffet. I should have looked at it first. Very little selection, food was not fresh and it really wouldn't have mattered if it was as it was just disgusting. The store bought pitas were old and stale. The salad was brown. The chicken had an off flavor and actually smelled as though it was going bad, making it completely inedible as half of the rest of the small buffet, which consisted of 3 chaffing dishes, a salad bowl, and a bowl of hummus. Everything about this place was just disgusting and put together by people who obviously just don't care. I have had a lot of great Greek food, as I love fresh, healthy Mediterranean dishes....this was Greek to Me as I don't know how they have stayed open.

My good friend begged me to go here, saying she stumbled upon this place and is a fan. I love lamb so no objections here. It's totally true how they barely even smile when you enter; but this obviously doesn't affect the business, it was pretty packed when I went. The gyros are good and filling (it's definitely not up to NY food stand par, but you get to sit down and relax instead of eating out of a box). I love the dressing on the salad that comes with the meal. All in all, it's good food at a great price. Maybe one day they will learn to smile.
