I don't often have a reason to be in this area of Austin, but when I am I believe this will be my hangout. Nice sunny interior with seriously comfy sitting areas. Very good coffee.

I hope this places gets more business...when I went, around 2pm (which I thought was everyone's second coffee fix of the day?) I was the only customer there. I stayed for an hour...and was the only customer there. But, it also meant that I got a huge couch to myself and some time to talk with the barista without feeling rushed. She made a fantastic Cappuccino. When I'm in the area again, I'll definitely stop by....even though the place was a little bright for my taste.

Woo Hoo! I was so bummed when Seatle's Best closed it's doors. I used to love just hangin' out on their outside deck watching the world pass me by.Then by chance... I ran out of coffee the other day and had noticed a new sign at the same location. It said "Tonic" but it looked more like a bar or something. Only, it appeared to be open during the day... so, I checked it out. Sho enuf! We have a new coffee shop in the hood. And not only that, it's waaaay laid back with comfy lounge chairs and very airy. The coffee is awesome as well. Add to that, they've got free WiFi as well.If that wasn't enough, they are now a full bar ta boot! Sweeeeet!!!!

This is my new bar! Last night was bring your own Hookah night ,and since it is out of city limits we got to smoke our flavored tabackie inside on the couches. Tues is my fav ($1.50 XX) Thurs seems to be the busiest thanks to the local Kareoke talent and the $2 Long Islands. I also like that for the most part they will do whatever you ask. If it is wed and you feel like singing they will let you belt it out, you want music on th patio? (or Not?) DONE, you want to dance on the bar? go for it, you want flaming Dr. Peppers ?No problem. When the night is over just walk home no need to risk DWI's!Cons . . . . -No bar games. -b/c there are no servers you have to empty your own ash trays and bus your own drinks. Oh and last but not least they actually have Rock Band night on Mondays! If only I could play the drums as good in "real" life! What a blast :)

Tonic is the best bar! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming...it's like Cheers, everyone knows your name! Tonic has great drink specials every night of the week and it's a very relaxed, laid back atmosphere. I've never been disappointed with my service or drinks that we order. I can't say enough good things about this bar...we're are so thrilled to have them in our neighborhood!

I and some friends from work decided to check this place out for a Happy Hour. I was surprised that there was virtually no one there. The drinks were fine and prices were OK as well. The bartender had her child there running around - apparently waiting for the father to pick him up. I have nothing against kids but bringing a couple toddlers to work is kind of weird. The karaoke never really got started but of course the only people there were me and my two coworkers. I think this place could have a lot of potential but they are going to have to step it up. Basically the environment is cozy.. nice leather sofas to sit on but the bar was very small. Also the patio was pretty small as well. I know it's a coffee shop by day but was just a little disappointed that there wasn't more going on. Definitely what i would call a "starter" bar to have a couple drinks before beginning the night. There drink specials are good, but not a lot of life in the place for a Thursday.Pros: Drink specials, cozy and friendly serviceCons: Nothing going on.. no life and thought having little kids there was a bit too much.

Tonic Lounge has taken over the space previously occupied by Seattle's Best at the Artisan. They currently serve the standard coffeehouse drink fare, but I hear they will be serving alcohol sometimes in the near future (Jan 09?). Great addition for the north Austin coffee junkies, since there really are few spaces like Tonic out in this area. Added bonuses: free wi-fi and pretty darn good chai lattes.

Nice and roomy, big comfy leather couches and plenty of plugs and free wifi. Great place to work, low traffic, pretty quiet. There are two flat screen tvs playing whatever - first was news, then a music channel. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. "Is that too sweet? We have bagels in the back! Is the TV too loud? Do you want a different channel?" etc! They have a ton of espresso drinks - about $3 for a small - they also have lots of blended beverages too. Apparently this place is also a bar, with happy hour between 4-7 AND 9-11pm. Nice. $2 domestics, $2.50 imports. Looking forward to visiting at night.

This place is cozy! They now have a full bar and hopefully food soon. We went there for happy hour last night as was pleased with the place. Hopefully more of ya'll will go here b/c there were 2 others when we got there and 2 more showed after an hour or so. If you drive home on Parmer stop by for a drink and you will be happy you did. It will be great when they get patio tables and chairs! I am not a fan of the big black chairs in the place b/c they take up so much room and you feel really far away from your friends. But they are comfy. J.L was a great barista!
