I like that this is another late night place since I can be indecisive at times - by the time I figure out what I want to eat, it's already midnight.  Anyhhow, the hostess was very nice.  She immediately acknowledged me and asked if I would be sitting in or taking something to go.  I told her I'd be staying and right after she asked me if I had a preference of where I wanted to sit.  Great customer service.  =)  I'm a huge fan of 'the first face' of every business and if that goes good then I'm pretty laxadaisy afterwards. The Kerbey Chicken sounded delish but I instead went for the pork tenderloin.  With the spinach and potatoes, everything was really tasty.  I was also happy with the prices - they were definitely reasonable.  And the set up inside plus the menu and dessert items sorta reminded me of Marie Callendar's.I'm sorry to hear that a lot of people weren't happy with this location.  Maybe I'm missing something since I have yet to try the original Kerbey's location.  Parking is good and there's also outdoor seating if you want to brave the semi-cold winter winds.  The access to get to this place, however, can be a  bit of a trial and error especially if you're not from the area.

So disappointing.  We went here the other day and I can't say that anything about it was pleasant.  We had to wait 40 minutes for a table which was completely fine, but then once we were seated we had to wait forever for service.  After our order was taken we then proceeded to wait a long time again until the food came out.  The entire time I was waiting I was treated to a small child kicking the booth over and over and over which really added to the positive atmosphere. The tea was gross and the food only marginally better.  I ordered a breakfast platter which has two eggs, two pieces of ham and two half sized pancakes.  The ham was overcooked and something was just off about the pancakes. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.  The best part about the place was the inexpensive prices, but even that won't draw me back to Kerbey Lane.

While this Kerbey Lane location is not what the old one in the area was, I cannot bash their food and service. Nothing has changed from in that respect. The new location definitely screams "strip mall diner," I was beyond satisfied with everything I have eaten here. The last two times I've been back to Austin I've enjoyed Sunday brunch here. There is obviously a wait, but I've never stood around for more than 30 minutes, with a group of 4 people. And last time I even scored some Girl Scout cookies while waiting outside. Both times here I had good service, and enjoyed the semi-chatty servers we had. I appreciate the types of people they hire to take care of the diners. It may sound weird, but I always have good memories of Kerbey Lane servers.Anyway, in short - it's not the old place we ALL miss, but it still upholds the other things Kerbey Lane stands for. Thank god I can always count on Kerbey Queso.

I like the selection of vegetarian food but I am never very impressed with the taste.  Good atmosphere, ok food.  I will go back... until I find better.

Kerby Lane, I want to love you.  You're like that really hot guy that everyone has a crush on but once you get to know him, he's not really all that.   All my friends are enamored by the Kerby.  By the wait times, most of Austin agrees.  Maybe we just haven't ordered the right stuff.  Let me detail my experiences, or dates if you will.#1 - Ordering Kerby Lane to go for my office for lunch.  They were about 2 HOURS LATE.  Not a great first impression AT ALL.  The whole team was grumpy and starving and the only way it would have impressed me is if it was the best food ever.  It was good, but it wasn't that good.  I got a turkey blue cheese sandwich and fries, and it was tasty, but soggy from delivery.  2 stars.#2 - A friend decided on the place for lunch and it was the old Kerby location.  I was looking for something healthy on the menu and couldn't find much to fit the bill so I went with soup and salad.  It was just kinda meh, especially for the price.  The service was pretty slow, but nothing as bad as the 2 hour late fiasco.  We also got the queso with a bunch of crap in it, and it wasn't my thing.  Gimme cheese and some jalapenos, please.  Nothing else!  Still not impressed.  Still 2 stars.#3 - I was incredibly surprised that my fiance suggested this for brunch today, but I did want to check out the new location.  It is a little strip-mall-y, but it's actually pretty nice inside!  We sat at the bar and I saw exactly what I was craving - vegetarian chorizo breakfast tacos.  I finally found something that impressed me on the menu!  It could have been a *little* spicier, but that's what salsa and tabasco is for, right?  The sad thing is I think it was on their seasonal menu so it will probably not be there next time I go.  Boo!  4 stars for a nice new location, being open before 11 to feed me, and yummy veggie-rizo.I'll average that to 3 stars.  Kerby, we had a rocky start, but #3 leaves hope that we may have a future together...

Kerbey Lane WTF!!!!! First let me state that I do not hate their food.... But, that being said WTF is wrong with a little customer service! 1. New waiter extremely nervous...... Maybe even scared to speak to people! Did I mention the trainer with him allowed him to just continue his track of mistakes with out helping him. 2. All but one order incorrect! Waited 20 minutes for water and another hour for food. 3. No apologies... Nor any corrections once the manager was contacted. 4. Nice response by the manager and I quote " If you had made a scene inside the restaurant we would have comped the incorrect orders or given you a free dessert" Really????? So, I guess you want all your customers to notice the problems we were having rather than trying to settle it without getting the whole restaurant involved. Not to mention we couldn't speak to her since she was not on duty..... We had to call her the next day only to get a bunch of attitude. I really hate to give this place such a bad review but, if you hate your customers what's the reason for us to frequent your restaurant. We have given Kerbey Lane the benefit of the doubt on many occasions but, this was the last straw. If you enjoy mediocre food and most of the time terrible service than knock yourself out!!! I know there are a lot of good reviews for this place and on the rare occasion they get everything right it is a good place.... However, that is the exception and not the rule with Kerbey Lane! There are a lot of other great places to go in Austin where you get the food and service. Really Kerbey Lane! If a taco stand selling $1 tacos can get it right why can't you!!! I on the other hand will never go back! Thanks Kerbey Lane!

I know this location has relocated and I have not been to the new one as yet but..Oh for the love of the gingerbread pankcake...I dream of this huge circular flap of goodness frequently! It is the ultimate thing they offer as far as I am concerned.  I don't even put butter on it. The coffee is very good - rich but not any kind of bitter or burned taste. I have never had a member of waistaff that wasn't very patient and understanding that kids make messes that adults don't.  I like to go here at least once for breakfast whenever I am in Austin....it's more than worth the wait.

Hmm... Austin must have some pretty incredible food if all of the previous Kerbey Lane reviewers are handing out 2-stars only. I was more than pleased with breakfast for my family of eight on Thanksgiving morning. We were seated promptly, served efficiently and with a smile, and the entrees hit the spot. I didn't pay a great deal of attention to the prices (thanks to my generous Grandaddy), but I'm pretty sure they were decent.I just don't get it... Why so low, Austin yelpers?

I love the original Kerbey Lane, and I can't stand this place!  I even liked the old location, next to the Krispy Kreme store. The wait staff was terrible!  I know that me and my date sat there for a while, but we were planning on tipping well (I waited tables for 2 years, so I know what it's like to have campers, and I try to compensate).  But he didn't even refill my water once!  I ordered a small stack of original pancakes to go.  That was a mistake.  Apparently, it takes so much effort to put the pancakes in a box that they charged me 41 cents in a packaging fee.  Come on!I was definitely not impressed with this location, and I will not be returning.

Ok, once upon a time (10ish years ago) I adored Kerbey Lane to no end.  As with a lot of people, the more years I lived here that adoration began to wane, and a year and a half away did not make me love it more.  But on occasion, I could still go for midnight chicken quesadillas and coffee.  That is, I could go for it as long as it was not at this location.  I lived near the old north location for a couple of years, and yes, while the service was never great (service isn't great at any Kerbey Lane) and the food was purely comfort food, the location at least had character.  Eating at this new location, I felt like I was in a business office lobby.  Too sterile, too shiny, too depressing.

I'm so disappointed with this Kerbey Lane. I've been other two Kerbey lane. They all use the same menu. On their menu, it describes Kerbey lane with unique Austin building. But this one doesn't. On Christmas day, we drove around to find a restaurant. Surprised to me, even Asia Cafe, a Chinese restaurant was closed on Christmas day. Finally we found Kerbey Lane is still open. But of course full of people. We had to sit at the bar table. We ordered an appetizer and one entree, Moroccan lamb. The lamb dish is a joke. $12 lamb is full of mashed potatoes. Hardly find any lamb, only 4 very small pieces of lamb. I know we have bad economy right now. Is that the way to cut the cost? If so, consumers decided to cut cost too. We are not coming anymore.

So. It's pretty late on a weeknight, you habe hunge and you don't want to move far from.....78750. Yeesh. Your choices of non-fast-foods are slim, and the poor guy at Rudy's had to answer the phone to tell you that they closed 2 hours ago and his ass is still there.Time for the 183 Kerby Lane. However, in case you didn't know, as Michelle B said, in Aug 08 The Knights Who Formerly Said Kerby In the Cool Old House moved, and are now consigned to strip mall land at their new address. Oh, the humanity.Yes, yes, I know the old house needed help, and people kept tripping over the coffee tea stands, and the a/c was weird in spots, and it was right next to the car wash, and servers kept getting face slammed from the men's bathroom door. But it was still cooler in the vibe than this place. I'm afraid you lose a star for vibe, Kerb. The New Kerby is also protected from strip mall car bombers by some kind of inane parking-lot-cement-and-tree decolletage. No comprende that, either. Still, the Kerby sign draws you in like a starving moth to a flaming mound of avocado sandwich/omelette/pancakes/etc, so I shouldn't complain.New Kerby is tasty like Old Kerby. Especially when you sit down for that 3am punch drunk talk with your amiga or amigo, staring sleepily half out of your 7ft booth at wall art while simultaneously reading the back pages of the Chronicle to figure out who keeps composing all those boring ass personal ads when they have so much potential? Yes, you will realize that the spirit of Kerby lives on in your fruit cup, sweet potato hash and uneaten though nice-looking sourdough bread. (They don't appear to have a gluten-free menu here yet, but the waitstaff says to bug 'em about it and maybe they'll git more.)Unlike Old Kerby, New Kerby has a fully stocked and loaded bar, including new fancy-ass cocktails like 'infusions' that have berry and other concoctions magically imbuing your old mixed liquor standbys.Local paper ads, good company, fun waitpeople, late night, yummy fare.  Kerby's still got it  Unfortunately now it is partially hidden in another fucking strip mall.

Yeah, Kerbey moved into a shopping mall. Hm. Not so kerbey...but who cares. It's a nice new location and seating and etc is nice and so fresh and so clean.I have been to this location a few times since it opened. In fact, had my new year's eve dinner here with my sister. The food has always been really good. The wait staff that I have had were always nice and attentive. Today I had the cobb sandwich and kerbey queso to start. Oh Kerbey queso, what don't i love about you? Mmmm, nom nom nom! And the sandwich was delicious too.I will be back. Love it!

This location is very nice and I finally got to go to it last week. The staff was friendly, the food was good, and the prices were reasonable. The service was great and the staff was wonderful. The only downside is the portions are a bit skimpy.

I prefer the former location further south on 183 as this one just lacks the charm and character.  I appreciate the large and varied menu items.  The pancakes are a case of big not being better.  Just a bunch of batter with not much flavor.  The bacon was a limp mess of fat. yuck!  They don't even try to cook the fat out so you better ask for it crisp.  I'm over this place.

I can't believe this won awards for best pancake or breakfast  in Austin. This wouldn't rank in the top 3 for best breakfast on my block in New York. One thing that always bothers me is being told that orange juice is fresh squeezed and being give a glass of juice which clearly came from some sort of bottle or can. The food took a long time to arrive - and we showed up when the restaurant was somewhat empty - around 10am.The fresh sausage which came with the pancakes was a good sausage. But most of the pancake flavors weren't very good.

Sure, it's in a strip mall.  It looks a little dated and institutional...sort of Lubys-esque, actually.  But I never found that much to enjoy about the squalor and crappy service that permeated the old location either.  Hey, at least it's clean. We were seated and served quickly - an important part of the "I'm sneaking away from work" lunch stop.  I had the tangy hibiscus iced tea, which I do so love, and a veggie burger and sweet potato fries (I like to pretend that's, like, healthy or something).  The veggie burger was one of the best I've had - clearly home made with good texture and flavor.  The portion was big enough that I had to take half home.I'm on board with Keep Austin Weird and all that jazz, but I also liked getting my check in a timely way and not being ignored, so I'm feeling good about the new location.

Had I not been to other Kerbey Lanes in my life, I would have liked this better. I love the charm of the other ones--the house-like feel, the grimy tables at 2:00 in the morning, the patio-seating area...This one's in a strip center area, and has more of a what's the word? More of a strip center feel, almost like a cafeteria or something. I felt a small sigh of relief when our waiter had a green mohawk. Ah, at least a little bit of the Kerbey funkiness that I know and love. It's very clean and very new. Most of the waitstaff was very friendly. The migas tacos were good; dad liked his french toast. Coffee is just the same as all the other places. I went there because I was in the area and wanted breakfast food.  The food was good, but the strip center "strips" it of its charm.

This was the first time I came to Kerby Lane since the move. I met a co-worker here for lunch yesterday and apparently beat the rush (we were there maybe just after 11:30am). We were promptly greeted and seated in a booth.Lately, I had been having a craving for roastbeef sandwiches so I ordered that from their lunch menu and it was great! I'm usually not a horseradish fan, but they had it in a slaw-type mix with the roastbeef and it was delicious! The fries were a bit soggy, but that didnt stop me from eating them all. My co-worker ordered the fried tofu sandwich which she just loved and raved about. When we left, the place was packed and there was a crowd at the door. I usually dont come for breakfast on the weekends unless it SUPER early otherwise, I guess waiting will be part of the norm.

I'll give it a 4 star just because I love the food. My tummy was churning from drinking the night before and nothing satisfied me like their traditional breakfast. The scrambled eggs had just the right amount of cheese of which I requested. I got to order pumpkin pancakes which is usually only sold in the fall at chain restaurants. I felt like a million bucks after my meal. My guest and I were seated right in the aisle and we kept getting bumped by the people around us and even by a staff member when she tried to get a high chair to an adjacent table. BUMMER! Also, the waitress was a little slow and didn't come around all that often. I love that you can still expect to be waited on by an eclectic crew.  I feel right at home even though the this new one is in a strip mall. And still, I have so much love for the original!

By far the best so far at this relocated locale.  Timothy did very well, service fast and not overbearing.  Usually after 1am, service takes a dip; not this time.  He welcomed me, took a drink order and was back in a minute and a half.  I ordered an app, kerbey queso, and that was out fairly quickly.  Just before the app came out, Tim took our entree order with a few mods.  The panini and fries were really good, though the citrus mayo should be tasted before slathering off so much.  An inconsistent prep of this condiment can slightly change the flavor and smell pine-sol/bleach like.  All in all, pretty good though, fries awesome.  The David enchiladas were good, again.  Only missing was a little more sour cream.  The black beans were flavorful with accompanying guac.  Only missing was a prebus of some BB and my salad plate.  We asked for the check, after Timothy recoed dessert.  He even brought us out a couple to go containers and fresh chips in a bag for the leftover queso.  For just under $30, well worth it tonight.  In past, service has been slow and menu items missing.  Keep improving, love the place.

I've been here twice - once fairly late in the evening, once extremly early in the morning. 1st time - Hummus was super awesome, we ordered a 2nd order in fact and there was only 2 of us.  I had some sort of delicious breakfast food with eggs and bacon.2nd time - OMG I discovered home fries - basically gigantic chunks of delicious potatoes.  I was also feeling like a high carb night so I had the french toast and eggs as well. The french toast was on the this amazing bread and was super delicious. The service here is always good.  The first time it was amazing.  I don't remember the guy's name, but you can't miss him.  He's covered in tattoos and piercings.  He was an amazing server.  The girl the 2nd time was good as well, but not amazing.

While the new location loses some of its Austin appeal....I must say that that it is nice.  Seems to seat more...can get to a table faster in most cases...and have great salads...had their Cheese Enchiladas with Sour Cream sauce...and they were awesome! This place is an all-purpose go-to restaurant in Austin..just beware the Sunday madness around lunch...post church crowds tend to pack the place pretty heavy!

This was kind of our spot. During our short fling we ate here a couple of times on late nights. Nothing else but fast food is open this side of town on weeknights after 11.We'd share an order of sweet potato fries and then I'd have a Denver omelet. Other times I'd get the portobello sandwich. Those are always good. I didn't branch out very much. Perhaps I'm too predictable?Since you've moved across town, I've eaten here a couple times by myself and it makes me think of you. The irony of you saying, "Will you still want to see me even when I live so far away?" makes me laugh. You went your own way and I let you go without kicking or screaming (maybe I'm becoming an adult). There's this saying about letting things go, and if it's true, don't worry about me. I think my reward will be coming in pretty soon.

First off, Serpico Wannabe, keep it down. We all know you love yourself by the way your entourage couldn't get a word in edgewise but this is just to let you know that your little coven of sycophants and your aging grandmother are the only ones left on the planet who find you cool or even mildly entertaining. Listening to you pontificate about "whatever" may not have been the sole cause of my indigestion, but it wasn't helping. And next lesson learned is that even though I've been places before I need to start reading the Yelps about them before going back because service, etc. is not always consistent. The sincere dedication to the restaurants theme -- health food hippy shack -- seems to always overpower the need to do those things that make restaurants successful, like provide well prepared food accurately and give prompt table service. Some of us come here on a different trajectory then those of you uncrossing your legs and stumbling away from the hookah, where you'd probably Yelp five stars for a restaurant that dropped a jumbo sized bag of Doritos on a card table and left you there for the next hour and a half staring at the palm of your hand.My pancakes were good. The petrified biscuit served with my gravy leaves me scratching my head though. A bite of my daughter's hamburger was all I needed to confirm that some things need to be removed from the menu entirely because I feel like they are "profiling" meat eaters. A message to the cook: if you love cows that much then once they have been sacrificed for my meal show a little respect by making their final memory a lasting one. Not clearing dirty dishes and making me wait as long as  you did for my check are not improving matters. My wife has a special affinity for the queso but left saying, "I'm good for another year" Reading these other Yelps, the ones giving KLC less than 4 stars tells me it might be longer than that before I return.

It makes me sad that I can't, in good conscience, give this place more stars. I have been to all the Kerbeys, and it's a mostly similar experience all the time. This location used to be a Mexican restaurant, and I really like what Kerbey has done with the place. Very open and bright and modern, with an nice outdoor area. However, the problem that I have with this Kerbey (that I have with most Kerbeys) is that the service is mediocre (at best, 80% of the time) and the food is lukewarm by the time it gets to you. Not only is the service slow, but most of the time I don't know who my server is, I rarely see them, and they rarely give me any indication that they give a damn. The three stars are for the times when everything goes right, and that when the dishes are hot and done correctly, they are good. I especially love the Kerbey Queso, chocolate coffee, and the Paris Texas platter.Kerbey, I'm not giving up on you! (mostly because I don't have a lot of other options.)

First of all I enjoy the food at Kerbey Lane. However I have had quite a few poor service experiences. Today's was a hostess that sat us and then nothing for 15 minutes. I asked for a server after 10 minutes and then waited 5 more for an excuse that our server had gone home sick. Sure fine just get me a server in a reasonable amount of time or don't seat me. 15 minutes without communicating with your customer is poor management. If the service improved I would give Kerbey 4 stars.

So right off the bat, order a dish off the "Summer Tomato" menu while it's still around.  I've tried 4 dishes plus an appetizer and each and every one stopped me in my tracks.  Delicious. As far as their standard fare goes, wouldn't know.  But I'll definitely be going again, even when the seasonal menu isn't around.Just stay away from the tap water.  Tastes and smells like they soaked it in gym shorts.  But I guess that's what the key lime mints are for!

Loved their pancakes then, and still love their pancakes now. My husband said if I miss the old place so much we could just go to the one on Kerbey Lane but I think this strip center one will do just fine.I miss the vibe of the warm and homey feeling of the old Charles Schulz house with the "Keep Austin Weird" theme working there better than the new one. I guess this is the best location that they could find within the same area of the old one. I kinda like this new place mainly because there's not as long a wait, and mostly because there's pleeeenty of parking which I always had a problem with at the old location. We usually go to bed late and get up late so we eat our breakfast at lunch time. Kerbey's breakfast is always good at any time of day which works great with our schedule, and I think their pancakes are still as good as they were before. A plus for us is when we're coming back home to CP from downtown Austin (say from a game or a concert) we like the fact that we can just get off 183 and eat then get right back on the road to the house, instead of looping around to the old place, then looping back to N. 183.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to demote Kerby Lane. I had given it five stars because i really do LOVE their Kerby Queso and most of their breakfast food (and I stand by my rating for the Kerby actually on Kerby Lane). However, my husband and I are now breaking up with the Kerby Lane on North 183. The service is just too terrible. Almost every time we go there we spend longer waiting for the food and then waiting for the check, than we spent eating. I'm sorry to call it quits Kerby Lane, but I'm afraid that it's not me; it's you.

I think that the farther you travel away from campus, the better these Kerbey Lanes become. This one is located in the same area as the Lakecreek Alamo Drafthouse, so that's a good thing to do if you're checking out the Austin area. The sign points you the way in, but the actual restaurant is deeper in and doesn't really look like a Kerbey Lane except for the rather generic sign. Why does this location seem so "high class" compared to the other Kerbey Lanes? Maybe it's just that it's newer. As far as I can tell, the staff members are really nice and the food is pretty much the same. You still can't go wrong with some blueberry pancakes. The kitchen messed up an order and the Server was very nice about it. We didn't want to be too troublesome and send back the food, so the Server took off $2 and made our drinks free.... I wish I got more than just a water. Wooo, check it out. It's worth it!

"Careful" she warned me, "It's a little hot".  It was my first night in Austin, and having spent the last thirty years in a place with the best hot food on the planet, I rolled my eyes.  She was right.  It made my eyeballs sweat.  I loved every second of it.  That was just for dinner.  The next time I was there for breakfast, and when I tasted that first bite of pancake, I heard angels sing.  If I found out today that their secret ingredient was cow poop, I would still eat them.

I'm giving "The Kerb" a 2-star because I'm protesting what's happened to what was once one of my favorite restaurants of all time. I like the food - still, and I like thinking that I'm eating "health food" (even though I never eat the genuine health food).....but the place just isn't the same. Something has changed that has made it seem more generic to me. Not just because of the new location, even though that has lots to do with it, but something I can't quite put my finger on. Perhaps it's the TOTALLY "out-there" waitstaff. Perhaps it's the "new" higher-priced menu. Perhaps it's just me....but something just isn't the same. Great breakfast, as alwasy. Marginal service, at best. It's just fallen off my list of favorite restaurants, and can't pinpoint why. Anyway, here it is....2 STARS! Now, let me be honest and say that the Kerbey Chicken is one of my all-time favorite meals EVER, but I've had it 75 times, and I'm just getting a little bit burned out on the whole place. Maybe a miracle will happen and they will find a cool little urban farm setting and move the place there instead of the lame strip center it's at now. HOWEVER, if Sprouts Farmer's Market DOES end up moving into the old Albertson's, that would add to the whole organic/hippie vibe and complement Kerbey Lane very well. One can only hope...

Came here for lunch and confused the waitperson and myself by mistakenly asking for my usual Magnolia omelet instead of a Kerbey one. Is that a sign of getting old or what? At least I managed to babble "...and a short stack of buttermilk" correctly. Every once in a while when I come here, I'll switch Beatle tunes:  " o/~....two of us, eating…

Why, Oh Why, are you driving me away Kerbey Lane?  I'll miss your Tomato Pie sweetness. I'll miss your crisp Sweet Potato fries with Chipotle Mayo dip.I'll miss your Kerbey Chicken. But I just can't take our relationship anymore!!! I can't keep coming back to the pain.First it was the soups that never match what's on the board. OK, you can change your mind. Then it was the dry chicken. OK, anyone can overcook something sometime. Then I stopped listening to your excuses. My eyes were opened to the horrible risotto, dry pancakes, and painfully inconsistent service. I love the waitstaff. They're quirky and fun and mean well, but I'm sorry, they are sooooo slow. But KL, the last straw was when you just couldn't get my order right. Eggs, bacon, and pancakes, all cold! You tried again but you just couldn't fix it. I know you tried to get those eggs right. But first they were too cold, so you tried again and they were overcooked, so you tried again and the third time they were too runny. I just couldn't ask again, there was nothing more to say. I'm really not picky, but they're eggs! How many times can you get something so simple so wrong? I have to blame the kitchen and the management. When you moved to this location it was really good. Like you were trying really hard to make this relationship work. I came here often, two dozen times this year. But you've gotten so bad. That's it, I'm done. You tried to be nice and take some money off. You said you'd like to see me again. But like flowers for a jilted lover, it's just too little, too late. I want to say goodbye, but I know I'll have a moment of weakness. A midnight craving for hummus or Kerbey queso. I know, sooner or later, I'll be back. Please get your act together. Break-ups are so sad.

Aarrghhh! Zombies have sucked the soul out of Kerbey Lane! What was once a funky, erratic, yummy spot to satisfy my pancake yearnings has moved to a new (strip mall? Really?) location, and become a sterile, lifeless corpse, masquerading as a hospital cafeteria. I could possibly overlook the generic, lackluster decor had my food not come out stone cold. I don't LIKE cold food. On discovering the problem, our server came back, 15 minutes later, with a new plate of warmer food, which I hadn't asked for. Now I have 2 plates of food I don't plan on eating. There was no manager called over, no comp on our bill, just heaps of waste. Bad call, KL, bad call.

Summary: Sad.Not-so-long version: I've always liked Kerbey Lane as a breakfast place, especially breakfast at non-breakfast times, it seemed to be a nice local change. This new location isn't bad, not much character but nicer inside than the old 183 location. And it seems to be popular too, there was a 30 minute wait around 12:30 on Sunday.And... the pancakes are still good. I had a short stack of blueberry which was very tasty, though now that I've tasted Cafe Java's pancakes I'm no longer a fan of these superlight fluffy ones with no texture. And the chicken salad my friend had was decent.But... here's the thing... I ordered their "Gambler", three sliders with antelope, bison, and lamb. What I got reminded me of those old Wendy's "Where's the beef" commercials... the tiny, thin patties were dwarfed by the size of the buns they were on. Which would have been fine if they had been cooked properly, but they were amazingly overdone, to the point of being barely edible. Not only were the slider patties overdone, so were the sausage patties I ordered - the regular breakfast sausage patties. That's just wrong.Service was good, atmosphere decent... but that's meaningless if they can't cook your food properly.

Another place with a serious disconnect between "quality of food" and "quality of service."  Also, bring a bookduring any normal meal times, the wait is atrocious. The food is 4.3789251 stars.  Omelets are very nice.  Breakfast tacos are delicious and ginormous.  Panacakes are tolerable, the fajita salad is great and the gingerbread is fanshmastic.  Service?  I wonder if half their staff can even spell the word.  Just keeping Austin weird, dude...  Yeah, between bong hits.Once, at the old location, I commented on the nice little vase with the carnation.  The waiter told us that if we needed to get his attention, to throw the thing at him.  Well, after literally 20 minutes (read my reviews, when I get pissed I start timing) of an empty glass, I did throw the thing near him and off the cabinet.  Dude really got angry at me and I told him he A) shouldn't have told me I could throw it, 2) that he should have provided better service and 3.14) if I'd wanted to hit him, I would have.
