Free wifi, wine, and coffee. My kind of place, and a great addition to the neighborhood. Friendly service!! They let me try the wine before serving it and also gave me a sample of a wine they were thinking about adding to the menu. I had the hummus plate for a snack, and it was good. They don't have a full food menu, but they do serve salads and paninis. I didn't try the coffee, but they serve Owl Tree Roasting (yea!).

Okay, so I get that I am not the typical bar goer. As I have mentioned in previous reviews, I don't drink, so trying to strike a balance between my friends who imbibe liquor libations on a regular basis and me, well it can be tricky. What I do love is tea. Yes, I am a self-proclaimed tea geek!Apothecary fills this need perfectly. The hand selected wine list pleased even the pickiest wine drinkers in our group, and the tea.. well I was really happy with the selection. We are not talking Lipton or tea bags here. Fresh loose-leaf brewed tea, and a pretty good selection to pick from. The staff was friendly, the food although slightly overpriced, wasn't crazy and is good to share and you can get tea, espresso, or a glass of wine. That made all of us happy, and for that I am willing to pay a premium. It was probably a bit loud to study in, but if you are here to hang out, I think you will find yourself pretty pleased. Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention how centrally located it is! Burnet area. Parking around the back.

Nice wine bar off Burnet rd. in a nice restaurant/shopping center. A bit dark inside for me, could hardly read the menu. The staff is very friendly, provide great service. The by-the-glass wine list needs some work, not many choices, but the available choices are very good. The menu is sparse with salads and panninis. We had the hummus which was fresh with nice warm pita bread. It looked like they also have great coffees and teas, but my better half and I stuck to wine. Nice neighborhood feel with muted but pretty decor. Definitely will go again, but will take a small flashlight next time to read the menu.

Absolutely outstanding service, and the entire staff seems to be committed to the concept. That helps when space is at a premium, as it was this Friday night. There are a litany of wines at the ready here, and seems like there are an attuned set of servers swarming to the action that's happening in this place. There wasn't a palpable humming sound, but I'd have not been shocked if there were. It's cozy, and that's worth noting. I tried on a Malbec which I found good but not great, and I'd definitely like to pop back in and try others. They were selectively handing out bite-sized cupcakes to folks who peered into the looking glass, and they feature a few cheese plates and other munchables for those interested. There's a decent but not overwhelming beer selection, and I tried a couple of those as well. A repeat offense worth happening.

Apothecary has the only pumpkin spiced latte if ever come across in Austin and, being from a land where pumpkin spiced lattes can be found as easily as weeds in your back yard, I sprung for it. I'd give the latte a 3/5 but the overall feel and look of the place gets an 88% for having cool Moroccan lanterns, exotic pictures, and their menu drawn onto a large mirror behind the bar. For my tastes, it should have had a little more of a comfortable and homey vibe for me to be a huge fan but the semi-formal nature of the Apothecary has its place. It serves as a wine bar much better than a coffee shop and is a really cool place if you feel like switching it up.

One of the many things I like about Austin is that there is no shortage of places that offer both wine AND coffee. You'd think we'd be saturated by now, or interest would wane. Oh, but no. It's like breakfast places on the weekend: there can never be too many.I went to Apothecary this afternoon and I had friendly service, a delicious brie, pear, honey panini, a very good (not too sweet) chai latte, and a window seat. I said "I'm pretty excited" to the barista approximately 13.5 times because I had no idea it was opening this weekend and a new coffee/wine bar in the neighborhood is pretty much the most exciting thing that can happen in my life. They've got $2.50 Fireman's, $1 PBR's, a great assortment of wines (with bottles as low as $21), a cheese plate for $12.95, and a hummus plate for something around $7.The inside is good for alone-lies, couples, or groups, because they have an assortment of differently-sized tables, and even bar seating (pretty cush bar stools, btw). There's a TV over the bar, which actually I don't mind. The interior design is vaguely Indian/Middle Eastern, but NOT in a hookah-bar-kinda-way. Tasteful, more like, with dark red walls and dark wood tables. Currently no outdoor seating, and I'm not sure if that's on the way.I think it'll be a good place to stop by before work, after work, uh, instead of going to work, on the weekends, etc. It has a lot of potential. There's a parking lot in back which usually has spaces, but a lot of folks in the neighborhood can probably walk or bike. It's open 'til midnight.Oh, and of course, it's Austin, so there's wireless.Welcome to the neighborhood, Apothecary!

**2 stars for super-helpful, informative, and attentive service*1/2 star for serving wine Since I can't give 2.5 stars, I am rounding up based on friendliness ... Apothecary is a friendly, neighborhood wine bar with an eager to please attitude, but I'm not going to be rushing there on a regular basis. I liked the panini and salad special, the moroccan themed decoration, and the staff's attentiveness. I also appreciated the laid-back, unpretentious attitude BUT ... I did not like the strip mall location; it takes away the intimacy that I am looking for in a wine bar. On a related note, they need to to get some mood lighting going on. And finally, the food could be fancied up a little ... our table had paninis and salads and they were okay rather than super-good or excellent. In summary, I would go to Apothecary if I were in the mood for a laid back hang-out time with someone that I already know. However, I would not go here if I were looking to impress ...

I have all the self-control of an obese heroin addict. Apothecary understands my hedonistic ways and acts as an "enabler" to my addictions. In contrast to that OTHER group, Alcoholics Anonymous, Wine-O's Public and other like minded citizens should consider meeting here. It's nestled near Rosedale with ample parking in the back, hidden from downtown noise. Red walls warm the interior and surround a plethora of high top tables and bar seats. The size is just right. Not quaint. Not an echoing den of vast space. I could go in a group and let the coffee drinkers and hummus-eaters have their fare while I hit a Malbec like I need it in an IV drip, smearing cheese and fig jam all over myself in the usual display of alcoholism and gluttony that rules my nights. It's not too far away from the hustle and bustle, but it's the sort of place I'd go to really get to know someone. No breathtaking views of the city or elaborate light fixtures or anything... Just a simple, interesting wine bar with kind staff and a little understated polish. Get your fix.

The business cards next to the cash register read, "The cure for what ails ye." Hence an explanation for a curiously named coffee house / wine bar / cafe. My daughter and I were looking for a reprieve from hubby's patio expansion project and the chaos and testosterone spikes that ensued. So we found ourselves mid-afternoon at Apothecary. Both of us were hungry. I took a chance and crossed my fingers that they would have something on the menu -- anything, really that my very "selective" daughter would eat. The very nice and perceptive lady who took our order was quick to recognize my daughter's "discernment." She even offered my daughter a sample of their iced tea -- an exotic ginger/peach blend. And btw, it passed muster. We ordered panini -- mine the grilled chicken, monterey jack, and red pepper and hers the turkey -- plain and dry (and no stink eye from the cash register lady for the special order.)I ordered a latte. It came with a leaf design in the foam. Little touches like that are what make a place special. Not only was it attractive, it also tasted strong and rich -- exactly how I like my coffee. As we were eating my daughter recommended that I give this place 5 stars -- because she knows I yelp. As she explained it, and I'm not sure I could say it any better: "everything here tastes good, and everything here is pretty."

My study buddy gives it two thumbs up. Also their coffee drinks are surprisingly affordable, compared to other places...and their chai lattes aren't half foam...(*cough cough cherrywood*) Speaking of their chai lattes, the one I had was probably the most beautiful one I've ever gotten. I was loath to drink it, because it was so pretty. From the perspective of someone who needs to finish a 5-page research paper by tomorrow:Wifi:…
