Arpeggio Grill Reviews
by Rachel K.
It is 10:52AM on the last day of work for the week and right now I am entirely consumed thinking about how in a little over an hour I will delve into my left overs from Arpeggio. I went here last night and got a little more pizza than I could handle but was happy to take a little box of it home with me. My! How good the cheesy goodness tasted on my lips--even a little Mediterranean touch was added with a sprinkle of dried oregano on top of my "Veggie Works." The girl who works behind the counter is super nice, too

This has been an Austin favorite of mine for nearly 2+ years. The ambiance inside has changed dramatically in that time, and it is now what I would consider a great place to go for some great Greek Food + Pizza. If you haven't tried the 28" Monster Pizza on home-made dough....you are truly missing out. Split a Gyro Salad as well, and you are in for a real treat! Also kudos to the staff, super friendly...!!!

I can safely review this place now that I have eaten their food thrice and been there once. The location leaves more to desire... mainly because it is located near a bunch of mediocre (or lower) restaurants like Wanfu III (I actually enjoy Wanfu's fried rice). Arpeggio's sign and building are not eye-catching, which makes me wish that they were closer to somewhere where they'd be more popular, but then at least I know that what's good about them is their food. The inside actually wowed me. I think there's a review where they did not like the atmosphere, but I thought it was awesome. They have the walls painted up with a landscape and everything is clean and well-lit, but not over-lit. You also get a full view of the kitchen, so you know exactly what they're doing to your food. Also, I love watch that huge cylinder of meat for the gyros. I don't know how authentic Arpeggio's is to real Greek, but the food is soooo good. The gyros are filling, the falafel is good, and I honestly can't think of what isn't good. Their serving sizes are also incredibly generous. The price is also fair. The owner, who I think is Greek, has his sons ( I think they're his sons) working with him. They exude niceness and only makes me want to go there and eat some more. Unfortunately, some of their items are slightly more expensive than it used to be, but not outrageously so. The roasted chicken is $1 more...I don't know what else they upped. Even then, the price is still fair.

(4.5) Stars.I so wish you were near me Arpeggio......Nice cheap, varied Greek food. I had the Gyro plate and that is seriously one solid Gyro. The greens are fresh, the tzataiki sauce was light and flavorful, the pita was soft and warm, the gyro meat was sliced a little thin but tasted fine. I love me some gyro, and this place delivers. The decor is clean and simple, with a hookah lounge area in the corner of the place. I didn't try anything else but from the impression from other customers devouring their plates, I would say gyros are not the only thing they're good at.The baklava.... wow.... fresh daily.... the triangles filled with creamy goodness.... my girl and I got the last one, and we wished we could've purchased another dozen or two to bring home. If you drop by, after your meal, I highly recommend the cream filled. We ended up eating a few more regular walnut ones without cream, which were nice sticky and buttery sweet as well.Definitely hitting this place again next time I drop by Austin. Makes me drool just thinking about it.

You guys have yet to steer me wrong.Went here for lunch today while I was running some errands. Tried the gyro sandwich and split a half dozen falafel with my bro. Everything was absolutely delicious and made to order! One of the best things about this place is the staff. Everyone was so friendly. I really appreciated that. I'll definitely come back as often as I can. It's worth the drive down from NW Austin.

This place is right down the street from where I work, so it's very convenient. Their pizza is really good, but I like their Gyros. The meat is tender and always cooked well. Order a Gyro plate and you get a lot more meat.Their Baklava (sp?) is about as good as any I've ever had, especially when it's fresh. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is their lack of fries. A Gyro goes best w/ fries IMHO. If they would add fries I'd easily give them 5 stars. This is a family-owned restaurant and everyone there is very friendly and seems to want to make sure you have a good experience at their restaurant.

This place is great. Tried it out because of the reviews from fellow yelpers. Two things: the meat takes a little while and it's not the most inviting place but the food is really good.We ordered the lunch special which was salad, three sides and choice of meat. I ordered the combo with beef and chix and it took about 10 minutes. The pita bead was ok and hoping for a softer type bread but it was fine (I'm used to the pita bread from Tino's)Overall, we will return for lunch...

Not that I'm an expert on Greek food, but DAMN this is good stuff! I used to work down the street and have seen this place go from Schlotsky's, to Arpeggios new empty home, to having a grocery store inside, to even more renovation. The staff is wonderful. The two daughters are so sweet and helpful. The gyro meat is delicious! I love the gyro salad, the simple gyro sandwich, and the plate with everything. The schwarma is also very good. I have to say, my two favorite things here are the hummus and the MELT IN YOUR MOUTH baklava. So flaky and creamy and the honey left over on your fingers... mmmmm. Oh! And the honey garlic buffalo wings are incredible! I miss this place.

Since I'm new to Yelp I'm going to utilize my first reviews on places in my immediate neighborhood that kick ass. Stay tuned for raves for El Regio, Set Up Bars, and all things Airport, Burnet Rd. and North Loop.I digress. I was really surprised to see how well Arpeggio Grill was represented here on Yelp. Not that it doesn't deserve it, I eat there almost weekly. I just didn't know anyone else did. I swear I've been a patron for two years and have never seen more than 4 people in there. I've seen it go through incarnations where it looked liked it was a snack bar in a bus stop, a small Mediterranean food convenience store, and now thankfully a somewhat well decorated casual eatery.I love their falalfel, shwarma, gyros and greek salad and their nice staff. However, I was in there just the other day and saw their pizza up close and personal. Holy crap did that look good. I can't believe all the shitty pizza I've ordered around here and never thought about Arpeggio. I didn't even order a pizza but I could tell it was fine. The next time I have a craving I'm getting a Greek Pizza, don't even think about asking to share. Get yer own.

I want to give this place 5 starts, but the serivce was horrible tonight. I WILL go back and give them another chance, however, because the food was outstanding. We were there for 2 hours, and finally got our drinks 5 minutes before we finished eating. The table next to us got their drinks, but nothing else, and ended up walking out. However, when we went to the register to pay, we discovered that the kitchen is TINY, and since the dining room was PACKED, no wonder it was taking so long. Apparently, they got a good write-up in the Chronicle 2 days ago and were way understaffed for the onslaught of business that followed. To back up the "unprepared" excuse, they actually ran out of glasses and silverware and had to serve us drinks out of a bottle. The gyro plate was awesome, and the shish kabb mix plate was also good. The babaganoush was very tasty! We took a large piece of pistachio baklava (with a cream center) to go, and it was WONDERFUL. The service level was bad, but I felt sorry for them. Hopefully they will get some more staff, and maybe expand the prep area into the back room to make more room for cooks. In any case, Ill be back!

So happy to have this place in our neighborhood! The food is excellent, well priced, and the family that runs it couldn't be any sweeter! Did I mention they deliver?
by Leigh M.
Delicious and pretty cheap. We popped in for a quick bite, and shared the hummus and the beef shawerma sandwich. Both we great, but I wish that they'd use the sandwich pita for everything as it was far superior to the pita that came with the hummus. The owner or manager (not sure which) was also really friendly, so bonus points there.

We live in the neighborhood and I'm always a fan of buying local vs. a chain and Arpeggio has rarely let me down in the food department. My only real complaint is that EVERY TIME I call to place a delivery order the guy on the phone (same one) is resistant. He always says that the delivery guy is out on a delivery and that will make it take longer. Huh? Um, he's a delivery guy shouldn't he be out on a delivery? That said, I am really impressed with the food and prices. The salads are fresh, the pizza with lots of oregano, the falafel is wonderful and everything we've tried has been really good. Only one time have I felt the quality was lacking but it was still satisfactory.I don't know, I love the food but I don't like feeling like I'm bothering them by giving them my business.
by amber a.
I have been ordering to-go(they deliver!) from here for almost 2 yrs.? i usually get the arpeggio mesa-platter: hummus, baba-ganoush, rice, chicken schwerma, some kind of beef fajita-y meat, tabuleh, AND falafel..for $9.99!!! and a lot of times i turn it into 2 meals. their salads are decent, too.and the reason why i only give it 4 stars is b/c it's not as good as something you would get in nyc, but it's good for the price you pay.

Note: This is the first time I've been inclined to write a review right after I ate food from a certain restaurant. Yay for food-coma writing. Please forgive if I leave out articles pronouns.Note II: I am going to begin this review with something my old english professor liked to call a "dawn of time introduction."The first few times I ate food from Arpeggio was at work, with a co-worker who drove to pick it up. I always really liked the food, although I was always curious (read: skeptical) about their pizza, hot wing, and shawarma-filled menu. I never thought much of it (probably would've given it 3/4 stars at that point). But THEN. I finally went and picked up the food. I opened the door and was welcomed by a well put-together interior and a nicely lit dining room. And then I walked by the lunch buffet (SALIVATE) before being met at the register by a pleasant and friendly girl who chatted me up about weather. I don't care if it's mundane, I LOVE talking about the weather with strangers. Note III: Subsequent visits lead me to believe there is not one unpleasant person working here. Is it their joyful youth which lends them this optimism? Their environment of culinary delights? We'll never know . And that was it. I was in love. I'm always the one to drive to Arpeggio now, damn the gas. Oh, and their gyros are amazing. So good that I forgot to take off my scarf and hat while I devoured my meal just now, stuffing bites of salad in between. Yes, I did get dressing on my chin and pita crumbs on my cheeks. And parsley in my teeth. I did, and it was beautiful.Note IV: Chicken shawarma good too. Baklava delishus, creem filled sweet butt goo with teeeeaaaa.....

Wow. Just . . . wow. I am impressed. The food is great and the prices are insane, especially for the amount of food you get. The falafel was fantastic, each piece fairly big, and I can't believe it's only $2.99 for a half dozen. I got the mixed kebab plate with beef, chicken, and some kind of ground meat roll. It came with basmati rice, Greek salad, and pita. All that for only $10. I also split the creamy baklava with my friend (baklava with baked custard added to the inside) and that was also very tasty. Highly recommended. I've heard their pizza is pretty good, can't wait to try it.Edit: I was so happy with the food that I forgot how bad the service was. It really was pretty bad. Asking for everything at least twice (cream for coffee was requested 3 times). So I'm removing a star. But the food is so good!

I love this place. It's a far cry from the Schlotzsky's that it used to be many years ago. To me, it's one of the best places to get "Middle Eastern" food here in town. I do like Tino's and a couple of other places but for my money and time, Arpeggio is where it's at. $7.95 for the lunch special which consists of one meat and 3-4 sides. The owner of the place will serve you and treat you like family. I get Chicken Shwarma with hummus, falafel, lentil rice, roasted veggies, and a greek salad. It comes with various sauces for your dipping pleasure and a side of pita and a drink. Everything is perfect except the pita which is kind of hard and dry. I can't really complain for that price, however. I'd pay $10 if they were baking some in house; but it's cool. Alright, go check it out if you like this kind of food and really nice service.

I really like this place and usually end up eating here a couple times a week. There is not a lot of good food in this particular part of town, so the fact that Arpeggio's delivers is a big plus, although I usually just call ahead and pick up my order. There is a dining area which looks nice but is usually empty in the evening and I've never dined in. The table service is probably not great unless there are a lot of people there. They have great (and cheap) falafel, shawarma, gyros, etc. They also have surprisingly good pizza, which is not typical for a "middle eastern" restaurant. I usually get the gyros or shawarma sandwich which is about 6 bucks with tax. Their tzatziki sauce is pretty tasty and comes with all the sandwiches/dolmas/etc. They have really good homemade dolmas and they also make their own baklava in several different varieties - walnut, pistachio, creme, etc. They have a very good appetizer/variety plate which comes with hummus, tabouleh, baba ghanoush, rice, shawarma and gyro meat, dolmas, and falafel, with a bunch of pita bread, for only $10. Can't beat it. I eat here a lot and the food is great about 4 out of 5 times. Once in awhile the meat is a little dry or something, but overall it's very good for an inexpensive local restaurant. They do a lunch buffet type thing and have quite a variety of tasty looking home cooked mediterranean items, I'm sure it is excellent. It's a nice neighborhood joint, unfortunately not in the best neighborhood. The owner is really nice. I hope this place stays around.

This is a review of their lunch special. It comes in solidly in the "Cheap" category and every solitary dollar is well spent. It consists of a Greek Salad, Three veggie sides (your choice of about a dozen, including a garlicy baba ghanouj, soft and tasty dolmas, flavorful basmathi rice, tabouli salad, stewed veggies and some soups), and your choice of three meats: You Guessed it! Lamb Gyro (solid), Chicken Shwerma and Beef Shwerma (tasty but a tad dry). If one of the choices were juicy beef kabob and the dolmas were a tad bit firmer, this would be my first five star cheap lunch rating. The salad is made to order and as-you like it. The veggies taste very fresh and the Greek Dressing is very good.Included in the price of the lunch special is a beverage and the hot tea is highly recommended. At this point, you and your partner have only spent about $18. Start boxing the remains up for dinner, refill on your tea and order a slice of their big baklava to share. The big one is a special home made recipe filled with a lite cream. It is delightful! There is a complexity of flavor which will make any other dessert over $2 blush. At this point, you and your best friend are still under $20 total and are quite happy. You may even find yourselves turning into those two uber-polite cartoon chipmunks when it comes to who will pay. Indubitably.

We tried Arpeggio for the first time and I have to say they have really good gyro. You get a lot for your money and it's very satisfying. I ordered a side of rice and hummus with the gyro plate. The rice is lightly seasoned and goes well with the gyro. The hummus is pretty good, but not the best. It's served with several triangles of pita bread that are thin and tasteless and were a bit stale, but that didn't bother me because the gyro was the star of the show for me. The gyro plate also comes with a simple salad with tomatoes olives onions and a tasty tangy dressing. We also ordered the beef kabob, but it was tough and our jaws were worn out after a few bites. The flavor was pretty good, but we learned to just stick with the gyro. We were told they have good falafel and look forward to trying it next time. Located in a strip mall, it's a cute little place that someone clearly has taken the time to decorate in a pleasing manner. There was only one other patron there with us and the workers looked bored as they chatted amongst themselves and with someone who came in. It seems like there is probably a pretty large group of "regulars" who frequent Arpeggio and I can see why. Nice simple tasty gyro is something to come back for.

Been here only a couple times. Two words: Chicken Wings! There pizza was great, but their chicken wings were fabulous!

The best thing about Arpeggio is they deliver to my work. I can't tell you how many places do not deliver to Cameron rd. It's crazy.I usually get the chicken shwarema plate. That's what I got tonight, and it was good as usual. I love love love there tzaziki sauce, its the best I have had in Austin. The arpeggio platter, or vegetarian platter are both good when you can't decide what to eat!

Oh, yum. Thank you Yelp friends for turning me on...to Arpeggio Grill.I love Greek/Mediterranean/Middle Eastern cuisine and, lucky me! the sweet, darling love of my life just so happens to be Middle Eastern. He even came complete with a sassy, chain smoking Syrian mother who really knows how to work it out in the kitchen. As one would assume, we're pretty particular about things like dolmas, being so spoiled and all.I was craving falafels something awful, so yesterday we picked up some food to go from Arpeggio before heading out to have a sunset picnic. We ordered a couple of vegetarian plates, some lentil soup and extra pita which is a mountain of food for only $18. The food was all perfectly prepared and so, so fresh. I seriously cannot overstate how good the baba ghanoush is. The falafel is also extremely tasty and crunchy and has great cumin and garlic flavor (I would say it's second-best in town compared to Kababalicious, but I always eat there in a certain...state...that may preclude my better judgment). The tabouli is good (not the oily mess you get some places), but it's the fatoush that I loved. Fatoush, in case you've not had the pleasure, is basically Mediterranean chopped salad dressed with herbs and lemon juice, and theirs is absolutely fantastic. It's kinda an out-of-the-way spot for me, but I'll be back soon. It supercalifragilisticcheapmezzialadocious.

Arpeggio Grill, oh how you satisfied the craving. I didn't know what I wanted, but I knew it should be tangy and high in fiber. But why all the confusion? The food was doing double duty for the problems we had with the service. We had the Vegetarian Mesa platter and the Arpeggio Mesa platter. Both were tasty and portions were good for a couple of hungry guys. I don't know Mediterranean food like I know tex-mex and some other types of food, but I know when it tastes good. If I hadn't had my friend with me to tell that we were missing things I wouldn't have noticed, mostly because there was more food than I should have eaten on my plate. This restaurant is jammed into a spooky little strip mall for dining at night. The sign on the roof says simply "Mediterranean Food," and the inside is in need of an update. The sign inside said please wait to be seated, but nobody was there to seat us. We were told that we should approach the counter for service. Our server wasn't really a server, and didn't really know how to fix the things that were wrong, simple as they were. The only saving grace was the food and the friendly people who worked there. I'm going to have to blame management for the problems that I saw last night. Arpeggio Grill, you have some growing to do, you have great food, and I have no doubt that you could be a good restaurant, but you need a reality check.
by Jaye J.
The best thing about this place is the value. For $8 you get a jam-packed lunch special. Also, the staff is super sweet. However, the food, at least to me, tastes like they called Sysco and ordered the Mediterranean Package. And that's that.
by Melanie M.
The other night, six of us went to Arpeggio Grill. We ordered a 30" pizza with half Greek style and half meat. We thought the server wouldn't be willing to do this, but he was actually very gracious. Although it took awhile, we had some outstanding babaganoush and pitas to snack on. I think the pitas were the only thing I didn't care for. I like pitas to be soft like flat bread or naan while these were crispy. They were warm, however, and the babaganoush was as well, which heightened the roasted eggplant flavor. By the time we got our pizza, we were almost full. In addition, just one 15" pizza slice is also quite filling. The Greek side of the pizza had gyro meat, tomatoes, cheese, green olives, mushrooms, and black olives. I was disappointed that there were no kalamata olives, because black olives just don't measure up. When we got the check, there was no shock. Amongst six people, forty-five dollars isn't so bad for a night of pizza and babaganoush, as well as enough leftovers for another night. I would definitely go back, and when I do, I'll try some of those chicken wings everyone is talking about.

My first encounter with the wonderful world of Arpeggio grill was when a buddy of mine took charge of ordering pizza one evening. No big deal right? And that's where you'd be wrong.30" Pizza, in a single box, with the most amazing assortment of meat, vegetables, cheeses, and everything else that will bust your waistline in a single sitting. Amazing. So, naturally, it was only a matter of time before I finally dragged myself into their restaurant. And it was great. After struggling briefly to find the place, I dined with a couple of my friends, and we were all satiated and elated. The mesa platter was endless, the Lamb shank plate was impressive, cro-magnon-man style, and the Chicken Shewarma platter I had was just awesome. Really clean, healthy food, with incredible service by our very enthusiastic and patient waiter, Waleed. After seeing that we'd all stuffed ourselves, he did manage to cajole a few of us into trying their hot tea, whatever variety it may have been, and that was just the icing on the cake. The joint is really nicely done on the inside; You wouldn't think it when you pull up, but the decor is impressively ethnic, with floor seating on ornate pillows and mats, as well as clean, solid, cozy furniture for the standard eating position. Hit this place up for dinner, you won't feel rushed and will have all the time in the world to digest (I think we were there for over 2 hours).
by Lucky D.
I was praying I'd love this place since I can throw a rock and hit it from my work. I went for lunch and got the Vegetarian Mesa plate instead of the lunch special. It was only a few cents more and I got an extra side instead of a soda. Everything was cold, coming off their little cafeteria style line. That's acceptable for some things, but not the falafel. The baba ghanoush and hummus were really friggin good. The tabouli was dry and a little parsley heavy. The dolmas were kinda mushy but really flavorful. Fatoush salad = pretty tasty. They did not give me any pita bread! Arg. I don't know if this was a mistake or if they would have charged me extra if I'd asked for it. Another customer was complaining about a terrible odor coming from the soda machine. He said it's been like that every time he's been and he's finally saying something about it. Staff was very receptive and responsive to this complaint. They were really really nice in general and the place is very nicely decorated with cool Middle Eastern music. I shall try it again.

Happy to have discovered a good place for Greek food. Went to this place for the first time this weekend for lunch and was fairly impressed. They have a good lunch deal where you get one meat, salad and three sides for like $8. All of the food was pretty good - I had the gyro meat and liked it a lot, and I was pleased with their vegetables as well. The staff were very friendly and the interior ambiance is pretty cute - low lighting, murals on the walls, and an "adults only" seating area with fun floor cushions. It was also pretty empty when I was there, so there was no line to wait in for the lunch special. If you want, you can also order their regular menu items, and apparently they make pizza and wings too (sort of a weird mix of stuff, but it seems like it works for them based on the positive reviews I'm seeing of their pizza). The location isn't super convenient for me to go on a regular basis, but I would definitely visit again.

For the price, this place is hard to beat. AND they deliver! Though not quickly: the guy taking your order on the phone is also the driver.I'm very "whatever" on anything chickpea, but like both the hummus and falafel. The dolmas are delish and cheap: to the point I almost can't see why I bother to make my own, except pride.I'm vegetarian and highly recommend the Greek pizza sans meat: more than one kind of olive? It's SO GOOD...I give all my ratings balanced with price. Yeah, sometimes it isn't fast. Yeah, sometimes it isn't perfect. But I never feel like it was a waste of hard-earned money.Oh, and do they ever feed you. My husband and I ordered WAY too much food on our first visit, cuz we're not used to such large portions.
by Rachel G.
I went here for the first time recently having no idea what to expect. My husband and I go to China Palace, in the same strip mall there, for Chinese food, and we would always wonder if this place was any good. Finally decided to give it a whirl. THE FOOD:We have gone twice in the last month, and both times we ordered baba ghanoush for an appetizer. It is SPECTACULAR! They serve it warm, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with herbs and kalamata olives. As many others have pointed out, yes, the pita they serve is very flat, not the pillowy variety. I really like it, because it keeps you from filling up so much on bread before your entree comes...and the pita they serve their wraps on IS the pillowy kind, which is good.I think it's cool that they serve such a wide variety of mediterranean/middle eastern dishes. Most places in Austin serve EITHER gyros/wraps or kabobs, not both. This place does the entire spectrum of med/mid east food, including pizzas. Sweet. We have yet to order anything other than wraps for entrees. The first time in, I got the falafel (superb, possibly the best falafel I've ever eaten), and my husband got the Koufta wrap. He said it was great. The second time in, I got the gyro (delish), and I already forgot what my husband ordered, even though it was only last weekend that we were there. On this visit, I also ordered a piece of the cream filled baklava for dessert. It was THE best piece of baklava I've ever tasted. The cream is like a rose-water infused cream, and the top is sprinkled with what appeared to be crushed pistachios and cardamom. To die for.THE SERVICE....is weird, but not horrible. They are kind of friendly. Depending on whether you go at lunch or dinner, you will either get table service, or a strange combination of counter and table service (i.e., you order your entire meal and pay at the counter, and then they bring it out one course at a time). Honestly, I have been so happy about what I was eating both times, I really didn't care that the service was a bit off-putting. Also, both times I've gone in, it was really warm in there...as in, I don't think they were running the A/C. It was around 85 or so degrees, and they had big industrial fans placed around the restaurant. That's pretty chintzy of them, but again, I love the food enough to keep going back. I will be glad when "winter" gets here, though, and it will be a bit more comfortable in there.
by Frances S.
The food is pretty tasty. And their fresh baklava is the best I've had in town- so flaky yet dripping with honey. So why the 2 stars? Because of the blatant DISCRIMINATION I've experienced each time I've eaten there. I'll order and sit down to wait. 15 minutes later, other people come in, who they must be friends with, order, and get their order in 5 minutes. And here I'm still waiting. I twiddle my thumbs and after 10-20 more minutes pass, I get my order. This has happened EVERY TIME. Even when business is slow. They don't even try to hide it, it's so ridiculous. Maybe because they know their food is good and people will come back no matter what, but I still think this is unacceptable. At least the baklavas are already made and they can just put one in a box for you to go.

I came in alone on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Ordered from the counter a Vegetarian Mesa Platter (pita/hummus/tabboleh/dolma/baba ganoush and fatoush) and a bottled water. I seated myself in a middle table and the young counter guy brought out my bottled water for me as there were none in the reach-in fridge. He told me I could have more (no charge) if I wanted. Nice. Very nice.It was warmly inviting and casual. Nice lighting. Nice music at about the right decibel. After waiting about 10 minutes I was brought my food and some silver ware. The baba ganoush was kind of...not chunky. But sort of chunky..unsmooth let's say. The flavor was meh. It was yucky, frankly. Great tabbouleh, almost entirely parsley and it tasted very faintly of roses. Very faintly. It was not *very* fresh, pretty wilty, but I liked it anyhow.Dolmas whatever. Definitley not a bad version, but completely filler on the plate.Crap falafels. I'm sorry. So hard I had to use a knife and fork. Crumbly, old...not made to order so I don't know what I was waiting for. Room temperature, not fresh from the fryer. Boo. Hissssss. That was a big dissapointment.I kicked off the fried pita bits from my fatoush..they were so oily they were dark with it. The fatoush itself was nice enough. Chewy pita, hard as hell to eat. and with a tip this all cost me about 12 bucks. Honey, please. If you think this is good, would you please do yourselves a huge good deed and go to Sarah's Meditteranean on Burnet? They can do half as cheap, twice as fast and the falafel is 100x better.
by Angela W.
Yum! Cheap! Great Service!Enjoyed the dinner special, kind of a buffet style for $9.99 (which includes both self-serve pop and hot tea-all you can drink). The special was a greek salad, your choice of meat and three different sides! Greek salad was really good, had some roasted chicken, hummus, roasted vegetables, and some other things I can't pronounce of spell-but they were really good. More than any of us could finish. Went there to meet another couple and arrived before they did. The staff was so helpful and attentive. They were so friendly and gracious. I think there were about 4 different people waiting on us during that time-just making sure things were good. The atmosphere was nice, restaurant was clean and had a wonderful little seating area in front of the fireplace too. Great music was playing (but not too loud). Wonderful place to spend a Thursday evening with friends!

Not only does Arpeggio serve pretty tasty Mediterranean food, but it also bakes 30" pizzas, which it delivers if it pleases you. The Greek pizza (decorated with gyro meat among other toppings) is one of my favorites. Among the Greekier of foods, the Arpeggio Mesa Platter ($9.99) is plenty of food for two and basically has everything they can possibly put on a plate: hummus, tabbouleh, baba ganoush, and rice, topped with chicken and beef shawarma, dolmas, and falafels, served with pita bread and tzatziki sauce. Heaven! The waitstaff are the sweetest people who treat you nicely no matter if you're in a rambunctious group of eight or just wandered in by your lonesome to enjoy some of their lunch special. The verdict: Since I now live around the corner from Arpeggio, I'll probably be there about twice a month. And that's saying a lot in a city that has a ton of choices for local eateries!

Oh Arpeggio... I miss you already. I miss your cozy decor. I miss laughing with company over how we're both full but cannot stop eating.I was a regular of this place while living in Austin and I will tell you that this is some awesome stuff. My standard was the Chicken Shawerma and I can tell you that over the years it hasn't changed much; it remains perfectly seasoned and you receive the same amount... no skimping here! Flavorful rice, warm pita bread, tasty hummus. The falafel aren't my favorite I've had from my travels, but they're not bad either. Some of the better that I've had in Austin for sure. The salad has changed over the years and they skimp a bit more on the feta these days but it's still quite tasty.Service when dining in can be hit or miss. Most times I've gone I have received my dinner quickly. There has been a time or two when things are a bit slow, however, the staff have always been kind and helpful. The two girls who used to work at the counter were adorable and super friendly. The restaurant itself has always been clean when I've gone and the changed decor over the years makes Arpeggio Grill a nice place to settle in for good food. And you can't beat the price! And yes... that enormous pizza you ordered for take out really IS that big. Have fun getting the door.

I love this place! The owner/manager/father figure is always incredibly gracious and the young guys who work there are absolutely charming. The service is excellent despite the ambiguity of the system. (Do we pay now or later? Are you going to bring me my gyro? What if I want dessert?)I always get the vegetarian lunch special with a huge Greek salad, warm, crispy falafel and giant helpings of fattoush and baba aganoush. It's THE BEST baba ganoush I've ever had. As a self-proclaimed condiment junkie, it warms my heart (and my tongue) that they have a huge selection of self-serve condiments including a thick tahini sauce, fresh green hot sauce, and some really HOT jalapeno relish. Bring on the Rolaids! My one and only complaint is that their pita bread is a little flat and chewy for my liking and it gets cold quickly. But the rest of the food is so awesome that I don't really mind. Save room for any one of their 3 or 4 varieties of baklava. There's a cream filled one that (in my opinion) has a hint of lavender! TO DIE FOR!

This is the best gyro meat i've had in a while. It was MOIST, which is always my complaint with gyro meat. It can get a bit dried out. The pita is thinner than most, and that is the main complaint my boyfriend had (it's not gluten free so i didnt try it obviously). But seriously...the gyro meat...mmmmmmmmmm. I had the gyro plate, and the dressing for the salad that came with it was really delicious with the meat and the cucumber sauce. I cleaned my plate. Prices are also much better than Athenian Grill. It is sort of out of the way the decor is nothing to write home about, but it's worth it for the taste. No question.

Great Service!Enjoyed the dinner special, kind of a buffet style for $9.99 (which includes both self-serve pop and hot tea-all you can drink).
