I absolutely adore this place! Great lesbian happy hour every Tuesday from 4 - 8pm, too!

...when they're not out of VODKA (This has happened to me twice here- who runs out of water-er-vodka?) the place rocks. The Sangria is great and the live music is wonderful. Last time I was there an African American acoustic man was playing and rocked my world. It's a great place for date night or on a laid back week day. The bartender who is always there is fun too. Oh and the patio is wonderful. There's always some weird scary dog on the opposite side of the fence but he's fun to talk about.

Probably in my top five favorite places in Houston.  Love the atmosphere, the couches, and definitely the sangria.  For $4 at happy hour, you can't go wrong.  I could drink it all day.I've been for the after-work crowd, which is fun, and during quiet times with my laptop to take advantage of the free wi-fi.  I'm not much of a wine connoisseur so I can't really comment on their selection (except for the prosecco; I'm a sucker for bubbles) but the bartenders have all been friendly and unpretentious whenever I order. The only downside to Boheme is the food; I've tried their empanadas and samosas and I'm just not a fan, because without a kitchen they rely on microwaving.  Everything else about this place though is stellar.

Since I was too much of a wussie to come to the Ike-delayed Yelp Elite event at Boheme, I think I've been paying pennance because I didn't make it out to this lovely little spot until yesterday.  When a friend suggested we go out for happy hour but didn't have a firm idea of where she wanted to go, I (of course) used my good friend Yelp to search for "happy hour" and Boheme popped up.  Between Farrah's office hours, the fact that the boyfriend's roommate used to bartend here, and that they've hung out here frequently, it's inexplicable how I haven't been here sooner. This lovely little space is housed in an art-deco styled storefront that was probably some sort of serious, industrial space in a past life.  It's been given a new incarnation as a wonderfully eclectic wine bar with furniture that makes me jealous it's not in my living room.  (I'm thinking of a beautiful midcentury-styled, pea green leather couch of which I'm particularly envious.)  There's extensive patio space, both in the front, back, and curving around the side of the building.  On this rarest of May days, breezy and relatively cool in the shade, this was a perfect day for outdoor seating.Happy hour specials (5-7pm M-F) were $4, which included house wines, frozen mojitos, sangrias and a martini with "unfermented pinot noir juice" (aw, come on, you can't fool me, that's just grape juice).  I was interested to try the mojito but the machine wasn't functional that day.  My friend ended up with a sangria in a lovely curved tumbler and I got a glass of the house white, whose bottle was opened up right in front of me.  I noticed behind the bar area there were categorized bottles of wine based on geographical origin, which makes me spin thoughts of bringing friends over here and splitting a bottle for a mini taste excursion in this lovely, relaxed environment. After settling in a funky 1970's vintage chair outside, I was in heaven.  For those of you that aren't wine fans, there's also a healthy selection of beer as well, which are detailed on a chalkboard on the back patio.  I was feeling tempted by an Ace pear cider, but we ended up checking out Dean's next door before our next drink.  However, I'm a huge fan and I'll definitely be back for conversations with friends or working with my laptop on that lovely pea green couch.

Went here for pre-dinner drinks one night last week.  I was underwhelmed by the place overall and the service was awful.  We waited for a good 15 minutes before anyone took our order, even though we were sidled right up to the bar the entire time.  My companion asked the guy for our check when we were ready to depart, he said he would get it to us and then proceeded to start washing dishes.  Um, ok...My friend's beer was cheap, other than that I didn't see any reason to return.

Worlds apart at the Bar Boheme*Note - First off, I'm particularly impatient when it comes to parking. Personally, I believe every establishment should offer valet as a basic service. So, the valet was definitely a plus. I pulled up on the opposite side of the street and hesitated for just a moment. The valet sprang into action and traded me a ticket stub for my keys. An attentive valet is always an excellent first move. The Boheme café and wine bar was an absolutely pleasant experience. I was at peace with the entire look, feel, taste and sound. It was aesthetically pleasing to all of the senses. I felt as soon as I walked in I had found my place in the world I just couldn't ascertain where exactly that was. As soon as I entered my ears were pleasantly invaded by the sounds of Brazil, Argentina or some South American country like that. I'm no expert on international music.Noticeably greeted with a smile, I felt the staff was attentive. I took a detour from my usual Dos Equis vice and indulged myself in a bottle of Bianchi. Being a wine bar, Boheme has many excellent selections. I also liked their Arauro Pinot I tried by suggestion of the main bartender, who appeared to be fairly knowledgeable. An immense wood and stone wrap around bar sits right in the middle of the main room. The seating was sufficient. Boheme has a variety of couches and seating options. The art on display reminded me of grant wood, a gothic feel to it. These pieces would meet the end of their tenure by the end of the week; as I was informed the owner Morgan Holleman prefers to rotate many of the pieces on a weekly to monthly basis. The décor was soothing and intriguing. Venetian style stucco walls, oversized sconces, antique lighting, stained glass hanging sections to name just a few of the interesting extras you will see adorning the Boheme. The surrounding garden is sparse on the greenery but is a suitable patio with an extra barThe menu was limited but quality. Samusas, Empanadas, Pizzas, and Quiche. In addition to wine they also offered espresso, cappuccinoThe Boheme houses a worldly feel collection of culture and international appeal, Holleman plays the role of ambassador of good food, excellent wine, and good times. I will say the Bar Boheme is certainly an asset to Montrose and Houston. For more information go to bar http://boheme.com or call 713.529.1099visit me at http://allenhenson.comA little background on me: I am from San Francisco (blocks away from the YELP office), was accepted into the Culinary Academy of SF in 2003, studied wine for over 8 years and hung out w/sommeliers, and have friends who are Executive Chefs from the West Coast to the East Coast.  I have never had such terrible service before in my life.  The people were rude, unaccommodating uneducated about their food and wine. This is a terrible place.  1. We had bad service, the bartender could not give us what all the cheeses were in the cheese plate.2. When I asked her about 1 of the Sauvignon Blanc's (asked if it was sweet or dry) she went on and on about how she would NEVER drink it  for 5 mins.  She never answered my question.3.  When I asked her for an ashtray, she said: Go look for it yourself.4.  We had a gift certificate for $25; they only took off $5.5.  They had some dancers come in doing some wild lyrical dance without any specific theme.  Their song was good, but their dance lacked artistic value.So.. I like Boheme because it's not very crowded on week nights and it's good place to meet up with friends and have a drink. I don't love the drinks though... even though people rave about their mojitos. I did not love mine... nor any of the other drinks that I got. Last time I went a split a bottle of red wine with a friend which was good and got a quiche which was also good but a little overpriced. I think for the most part most of the bartenders are really nice, but I think occasional you will get some who just stare at you like.. You, really want a drink, huh. Which bothers me and always creeps in my mind when trying to think of somewhere casual to grab a drink. I would definitely go back to Boheme but I don't think I would make a habit out of it.I hate to do this to ya, Boheme. Don't get me wrong; I still love you. You look fabulous with all the local art that adorns your walls; you're unpretentious yet still host plenty of artsy events; there's plenty of wiggle room inside and out. ...But service has kinda slipped over the past few months. Maybe it's because of your growing popularity, but it now takes forever to get a bev, which I can understand. Hey, you're busy. But it's more about what seems to be confusion behind the bar. Which bartender is servicing where I'm sitting? Is it her-or him? Oh, that person. No, she just walked away. They won't even look at me! Not only that, but last time I asked a bartender if they had any prosecco, and she replied: "What's that?" Yikes. This is a wine bar. Hopefully they'll get it together. Such a charming place (and so close to my casa) that I don't think I'd want to ever give it up. Frozen mojitos and free Wi-Fi make my workday a breeze! Oh how I love this place! Over the past two years, this city has had a surge in new wine bars, each…

Came here for a cup of latte. Nice spot, great decor will come back to try out their self-proclaimed homemade (by the owner's mother) quiche...The only issue will be the limited parking...

"I only see the problems, right now," was what one of the owners, Robert, said to me the other night. Boheme opened up about a year and a half ago, by two artits/jacks-of-all-trades, on a shoestring budget. But, what they are creating is destined for greatness. It's a really eclectic wine bar, with decent prices and great patio seating that stretches from the front, up the side, and into the back where you'll find a cool garden-like area. The back seating is complete with African sculptures galore, wisely positioned to offer intimacy to your group, yet still allow you to not feel too isolated. Plenty of fans (and even mister fans) for those Houston heat waves, make it nice for those humid evenings. And, they recently acquired new patio tables and chairs from Morocco. Very nice.Bar service is a bit shoddy at times, but Robert's working on the training. And, you still don't have to wait all thaaat long. The interior feels a bit claustrophobic at times, but there always seems to be place. I'm not one for bumping elbows too much, so I usually mosey to the outside. But, if you can deal with it, it's not that uncomfortable. Now, parking IS a problem... for the whole strip. It's not really the bar's fault, and not something I think they have much influence over. But, if you're willing to park and walk, sometimes a few blocks, I think it could be worth it to you. And, they open at 6:30 for light brunch and amazing coffee, so I'm told. They are expanding the patios all the way around, a work-in-progress that should be complete by the end of the summer. How this will be affected by the parking situation, we'll see -- but I think people won't care, as long as the place keeps the friendly and jivey atmosphere. And, they're putting in an outside bar, which I am sure will resolve some of the drink-wait time. All in all, a great place with a lot of potential... potential that the owners are actively working to realize. Check it out. It's a great place to chill with groups, or just with a friend or two.... Oh! And, try the frozen mojitos and house sangria. Pretty good to start with, and even end with.

I love you, Boheme! I can walk to you after work and sit outside and read and have a glass of wine and I'm happy and relaxed.
