Splash Ultra Lounge Burger Bar Reviews

Such an elite hot spot in boston~!! Splash is the home of my new friday nights~!!! Yes the line was long because i guess everybody wants to get in but worth the wait...make sure you go early so you dont have to wait and the roof deck closes at 11pm...its def a spot u dont want to miss out on~!!

With the exception the new roof deck, the updated furniture, the blue lighting, and the addition of the pool tables, this place looks pretty much like it did when it was called The News. I agree with the post below - hardly "Vegas inspired."

It has to take a lot for me to give a one star rating but this one is well deserved.....I went there this past Saturday with a post wedding party since it was the closest bar and some old friends were going to be there. Walking up the ramp, we were greeted by a very nice older bouncer who let us 4 girls in, no problem. Then we proceed inside and found a very nice and crowded lounge, a much classier then its predecessor, NEWS. We met our group and didn't realize that bottle service was legal but whatever, we are in Chinatown territory, right? Then, the waitress comes with the bottle of Goose, glassware, ice, and the likes and then only fills half of our glasses and leaves the other half booze free and thirsty - WTF? Thinking she might have forgotten something or whatnot, since we were already happy go lucky from the wedding, we wait, and wait, and wait... finally I went to the hostess to ask for our waitress who then returns about 10 mins later.. total of 20 mins total... In the mean time, I went to the bar and ordered a beer, $5 for a corona, sure.....pretty standard, until I switched to Jack and Ginger which became $10 a pop.. pretty steep for my good old friend Jack but hey, I have good company, it's all good..This is where it all goes downhill..... You're playing music, we're mingling, we're dancing... some of my friends started dancing on the couches..and so were nearby guests.... but apparently not kosher because this douchebag roid-out bouncer comes with a flashlight straight into our eyes and screams at my group like we were fucking criminals to get down from the couch...Okay, there was no sign saying that we couldn't dance on the couches and of course, if I weren't drinking would have advised my friends to not do so but to ream us like we're imbeciles... there's different ways to go about it, jackass... then he comes back 5 mins and does the same thing again when we were not on the couches, just minding our own business in our group waiting for out bottle service from our MIA waitress.... I told him I have no problem coming down even if you were such a jackass, but to do it again for no reason, now you're pushing it you wanker... I asked to speak to the manager but hey I get it, it's a busy night....the hostess apologized but please....this f-ing bouncer needs to learn some common sense.I will NEVER come back, nor will anyone from my party...

Most. Rude. Staff. Ever. Terrible decor and trashy clientele. Never again. Did I mention their staff was rude?

Location: This is a particularly hard spot to make work. There's not a ton of parking and it's off the beaten path. People will only make the effort to come here if the place is really, really great. Decor/Design: For a place that claims to be "a Vegas inspired, water-themed venue," the design theme completely missed the mark. Vegas clubs are sleek, sexy, dark, dramatically designed and in general, over-the-top. This place was NOT. It had white walls, no dramatic lighting, white and tan striped couches, no art or wall fixtures. Supposedly "water-themed" with a "hip, modern feel similar to Vegas, L.A. and Miami," there was nothing that even metaphorically resembled water indoors. In fact, it's carpeted. That's going to look great once it gets a little vomit on it. Even the logo is just blue cursive. Nothing Vegas or memorable about it. The outdoor patio, while beautiful, is not particularly functional. It does not appear to be heated in any way. This is Boston, that won't fly for 7 or 8 months of the year. The seating on the patio features beach chairs covered in terrycloth-like fabric, canopied verandas and bigger mattress-sized couches. There is a small wading pool in the middle of the patio that I saw two waitresses almost fall into. Be careful up there when it's crowded. Launch: When you are going to launch, you want to pull out all the stops right? So shouldn't there have been toilet paper in the ladies? My friend ordered a pear margarita that was not-drinkable. Not launch acceptable. At all. The swag bag brochure wasn't even printed in color. If you aren't ready to make a 'Splash', put off the launch! All I'm saying is i see a lot of Ed-Hardied guidos here in the near future. I'll pass.

Heard about Splash...finally checked it out last night (Saturday). Fun place.Honestly was a little surprised how small it was....thats the only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5. The staff is super friendly. The bouncers are awesome. They didnt have a coat check but offered to watch my friend's jacket for her. The music was great-loved it. And thats a rare for me here in Boston. Nice crowd...young professionals, nice ambiance. They only had one bar, but never had too much trouble getting drinks. The drinks are strong and not too expensive.I had a really fun time-will definitely go back again!

All I hear from reviews about this place is how long the line is! why wont they let me in!..blah blah blah...stop hating...my advice! 1.Give Winters a call he will hook you up! No door fees, no line no nothing 617-921-7799...tell him Ran sent you. call ahead of time because this is a small place and it gets packed 2. Tip your door man they will remember you next time3. Stop bitching...Ball out This is a great place! No Ed Hardy shirts here!!! thank god... only the grown and sexyI had my birthday party here last night. The line was long when i got here around 11 pm. Had my car valet $20. We got the vip room which required you to get at least 3 bottles which was fine... $315 per bottle. I ended up getting 4 bottles which came to $1500 with tip. Winters hooked up another BOTTLE FOR FREE!!! All in all i rolled with about 30 people they got us in the VIP door by the side of the club...NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I had a great time DJ Dirty Dek on the tables Beautiful Women everywhere...This place is what boston has been missing!

So, this is probably not a completely fair review since I didn't actually eat at this restaurant, but I thought I would share my experience with them. Last Sunday, I made a reservation for a party of 6 for Wednesday (tonight). The woman took my reservation and even said, "We'll see you on Wednesday!" I was excited to try out this new restaurant. The dinner meet-up was for a high school reunion planning committee. I was running late, so I decided to take a cab instead of the train from the BU area that cost me about $20. When I arrived tonight, I learned the whole restaurant was closed for a special private event. I asked to see the manager. I told him my dilemma about someone taking down my reservation earlier that week and at the time, it wasn't a problem. I even said that he could check the reservation log and see that there is a reservation there. The fact is that I wasn't contacted to let me know that the restaurant was closed that evening. I wouldn't have had to worry about being late, and I would've saved myself $20 tonight. The other problem was that the manager didn't even apologize. He said to me, "I can get you into Umbria tonight." I told him, "No thanks! I'm good! Bye!" I will not visit this restaurant again. Some may think I'm overreacting, but first impressions of a restaurant is important to me.

Even if Darryl Hanna owned this bar I wouldn't like it. It is against every fiber of my being. Girls in prom dresses from windsor or Forever 21, dancing the night-awaYYY playing russian roullette with chlamydiaJust KILLME instead next time. I think I would've liked it here if I was say, 17 and borrowing someone's older sister's, roomate's pumps (which I did in like 1997, but we went to the roxy instead).

I didn't have a bad time at Splash per se, no hassles, no drama, in fact the staff was polite and professional. it's just that the place didn't particularly do anything for me. A couple friends I hadn't seen for a while were having a combined birthday here, and I decided what the heck, even though i am definetly not a nightclub kinda guy, so I'm just judging this against other clubs/hotspots. There were beautiful people, check, a very crowded floor, check, $12 drinks, check, really annoying music played loudly, big check (think a couple minutes of just the phrase "what the F%^" with a ticking clock...yeah)I can say that the place looked nice, they had some billiard tables and a lot of couches. The upstairs area we had for the party was spacious and a lot brighter than downstairs, with it's own small bar which was helpful for acces to booze. Couldn't go out to the patio since it was raining cats dogs. All that said, it's a mixed bag, and I don't see myself going back anytime soon.

The ONLY reason I went to Splash is because I live in the neighborhood. This is the polar opposite of my kind of scene, but hey, I gotta support the local establishments.I agreed to check it out on one caveat - during the week, and early. I went to the News a few times, so I thought I knew the space well. Um nope. They did an incredible job with Splash! It's so much bigger than the News was. The downstairs, for the most part, is the same layout. However, if you didn't know there were other rooms to check out, you might be disappointed. Getting there mid-week and having a personal tour of the entire place will show you there is a lot that Splash has to offer. Obviously, the roofdeck makes a huge improvement. And I'm a little confused about all the Vegas references. This was much more 'Miami' to me than Vegas. The cabana-style seating, the outdoor pool for decoration, it was pure Miami. Then there are the pool rooms, which you don't need to have a special reservation for. For a place like this, that surprised me. But I think my absolute favorite part is the smoking room and I'm not even a smoker. Now, get some hookahs and some sheesha in there, and I'll be all over it.So that's the space: A+++The drinks are fairly priced. Just like any other 'lounge' or 'club' - I was expecting to pay a lot more than $5 a beer, $10 a glass of wine and $12 a drink, but I'll take the reasonable prices. And I think the menu is pretty decent, and the food was good. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip, and some sliders which came with fries. I'd come back to chill and eat again.I will not, however, come back when it's a popular hour. I just cannot deal with the crowd; not my style at all. I'm glad they're open for people like me that like the early-bird-lounge-special :)

I give a place it's due, even if it means going back on a prior unpleasant experience. Went on a Wednesday and this time made sure I was getting there 'early.' Granted it was a wednesday and I'm pretty sure there wouldn't have been a line as crazy as the other time, but I simply didn't want to chance it. There weren't that many people at the place at the time so we easily got a place at the bar and were immediately told there were free tapas going around with a drink! Great deal! The drinks were standard, and for the first time I got a chance to really look at the place and it was nice. As the night went on, more and more people started coming in. I believe in order to get a table there you have to pay $$, so we were lucky we go the bar area. The music was great as usual and I enjoyed my night a lot, especially since I was with such good friends. I was hesitant in going back, but thanks to my friend's insistence I decided to give the place another try and glad I did. It's not that bad at all. But I'll stay clear of the weekends - I like it better on the weekdays! Edit: I earlier had this review at 1 star and I'm raising it to 2 because the manager personally…

I came here for a birthday party for 3 people, one being a girlfriend of mine.... Location is kind of out of the way, near Chinatown. Nice atmosphere inside though, lots of water flowing through clear walls, lots of blue glowing floors and walls. Women's bathroom is tiny but they have self warming toilet seats and two ended bidet.....eek! Towards the middle of the night, bathroom was a disaster! Multiple broken glasses and beer bottles all over the floor, empty drinks covering the sink, etc. Does anyone check on the bathroom? i was wearing skimpy shoes and could have easily sliced my foot open if I wasn't paying attention. It was super crowded on the first floor, but we had a VIP room upstairs which was nice and roomy! What I didn't appreciate was the lack of separation from public to private. We were having a private party and random people kept coming up. No signs posted, no nothing. It would have been good to have a sign put up. We ended up having a persistent bouncer bring up wristbands and harassing our group to see them the whole time. Music was good, drinks are REALLY expensive. No cover for us this night, but the drink prices made up for that part!

This place has burgers?? I never would have guessed. Most of the girls in this place look like they could use one though.Okay, I'll try to be kind in this review, because if I'm honest with myself, a lot of the reason I didn't enjoy my experience at Splash was because it's simply not my scene. $12 drinks, girls wearing nothing, and guys twice my age rubbing up against me in a room so crowded I barely recognized the place from the pictures posted here.We didn't have to wait to get in, which was nice, but the bouncer was a total asshole. There's just no reason to be so rude. And that pretentious attitude continued inside. There wasn't a cover on this particular night (went on a Saturday), but the drinks were expensive enough to make up for it. Every person working at this establishment had their nose stuck up in the air, really, the service was awful. Plus there was no place to sit, or even stand, and although the music was okay, it was WAY too loud. I couldn't hear a thing anyone said to me. My friends and I downed our drinks and got out of there pretty quickly. But I hear some people like this stuff, so 3 stars if you enjoy sweating the night away packed like a sardine while sipping over-priced drinks next to guys wearing too much cologne and girls wearing nothing at all. Otherwise, don't waste your time.

I really wish I came here before midnight. I didn't realize this place was a Burger bar too? I wish I knew that when I came!Anyways, I dated one of the promoters for this place...and like any normal girl, I wanted to look good in front of him. Unfortunately I wasn't in a completely sober state, and I missed a step...and I fell on my bum...with him standing right there. Embarrassing? Yeah. Lesson? Keep an eye out for that tricky step so that you won't make that same mistake!Aside from that experience, I enjoyed hanging out with my friends (we had a table) so it was great that we had somewhere to sit. Another perk for this place is the SMOKING ROOM! Instead of going out into erratic Boston weather, they have a room (slightly cooler) dedicated for social smokers like myself, and heavy smokers like some of my friends.Enough said. I had a fun night, and I'd love to come back.
