Came here for Restaurant Week lunch last Saturday. Thankfully, since we got there way early (12:45pm) we had the place to ourselves. Now RW is, in my opinion, a chance for a place to shine and wow people with their food. My Caesar salad app was nothing special. The "strozapreti primavera" was laughable. I could have made this myself! Peas, carrots, asparagus cuts with pasta in a gritty attempt at alfredo sauce. Edible? Yes. Knock-your-socks-off? Definitely not. We waited nearly 20 minutes for dessert once we finished our entrees. No one said a word to us about it until 5 minutes before the desserts finally appeared. My chocolate cake was again, just okay. The pepperment anglaise drizzled on the plate was great and a bit more of it might have improved the cake. The wines by the glass aren't too bad. Our mumbling waiter also brought down the experience; nearly every time he came to our table I had to repeat what (I thought) he said since my friend could barely make out a word he was saying. A better waiter and more exciting food could have definitely earned this place 4 stars.

The reservation was for Saturday night; thus, midway through our dining the clubbing crowd literally descended. Yes, the lounge is downstairs while the diners eat above. Unlike Caprice's hybrid (and more seamless) approach, 33 attempts to segregate the lounge from the diners. This is one of those high end venues where you feel that the cost covers the magnificent decor. The bar, which had the appropriate collection of well dressed indivduals, struck me as standard. The entrees with the requisite, small portions were largely unremarkable and bland.

Went tonight for their appetite stimulus menu.  The deal was awesome but the food was ok.  3 for $3 on things like sliders, oysters, hummus trio, etc.  Also $3 for things like mac and cheese, basket of fries and caesar salad (Wednesdays and Thursdays 5-7pm at the bar or Friday and Saturday 8-10pm in the Lounge).  My sliders were average, but the mac and cheese was pretty good.  Catch - a $6 drink minimum for the deal, so you better drink a lot of diet cokes if you don't drink.  Also, we were sharing some fries and they guy tried to take them away before we were done - are you mental?  The staff was pretty nice, although the place was dead.  Guess I know why they're offering the special... I can't recommend the restaurant, but I can recommend the lounge and it was pretty fun.  The set up…

So we decided to try something different...But what do you try Stix Lounge or 33...They are on the same block and have deceptively similar menus Perhaps because they are the same restaurant with different decor So we arrived at 9:15, and the hostess(hee hee) said that they were booked and no tables would be available for the evening. It was the first of many contradictions. The manager, however, overhearing this found us a table in about 2 minutes. 33 is a high fashion restaurant /bar. It is glitzy and state of the art. That's the problem, it confuses its identity. We were there for the food. ...unfortunately The dinner started pretty well actually as we ordered the duck fat french fries. It quickly devolved as long waits, unappetizing fish and a general dismantling of our table for the bar scene ensued. Here is the rating: 1 star for fries and 1 star for the music...love the vibe...hate the food

Meh. The food is fine but way overpriced. We had a half-empty pot of Chicken Pot Pie for $19 that was just ok and $28 pork chops that were just not $28 worth of good. The cocktails used to be great, back in the old days I'd make special trips all the way to 33 just for the drinks. Now they're just meh, ok too, but still at the same price ($14). Poor value all aroundOn the upside, the service at 33 is actually pretty great. The walls bedecked with Wine Spectator bling, and we had a sommelier who recommended a nice wine for us. Plus the multicolored changey color bar / peek-a-boo bathroom design business is still pretty neat. And they have a good patio for outside seating in the summer.

Whoa!!!  This place morphs every time I go there...Ok, you have an arm and a leg?  Well, be prepared to cut one of them off and give it to them as a form of a payment.  Alright food.  Definitely had better somewhere else.  I only went there cuz a friend recommended it to me.  That's all.  Go somewhere else if you want quality food.  Go here if your friends say so.

LINES: There was no line since it was about 10pm on Christmas eve, a Wednesday night. AMBIANCE: Once we got inside, the lounge seemed quite cozy and well decorated. Large bar that ran across the entire floor into the back with tables/bottle service along the wall. FLOOR PLAN: Pretty small dance floor, 30 x 30 would be a good guesstimate. Bathrooms are located down the stairs toward the end of the hall. There was a secret bar downstairs that was closed off. DRINKS:  $5 Corona and $7 - $9 Cran-Vodka. Moderately priced. OVERALL: When we got in, it was pretty empty and looking dismal. Towards midnight and post, the crowd got larger and it got quite packed. It must have been "Asian Night" which we didn't mind x). Would go back again...maybe...

We wanted to do a relatively reasonable night on the town and thought combining a frugal fanny Prix Fixe option with a $10-off coupon would bring our bill here to a tolerable, recessionista-approved level. We found out at the end of the meal that you cannot combine these two options. Unfortunately, this information is not listed on the coupon, nor is it shared on the menu. NOT that this really matters because at the end of the meal the server told us that everything was taken care of by an anonymous source (this would probably be my mother, who knew what kind of week I had and is the only person who knew we were coming here) and to have a pleasant evening we hope to see you again soon. I said "okay, so I am all set and don't have to do anything?" She agreed. After having learned that I could not apply the coupon to the dinner to save my gracious mother some money, we thanked 33 and left. My mom received a call about an hour later that her daughter had not left a tip (once I called my mom out on treating us, she shared the aforementioned with me). This was just a minor miscommunication, but it did cast a shadow over my memory of this otherwise-pleasant meal. My salmon was topnotch- extremely fresh and with delicious accoutrements. I tried my boyfriend's sausage pasta which was equally delicious. We went before a show so we dined relatively early, and pretty much had the place to ourselves. I would love to have cocktails in the garden in the summer here.

I went here with about 15 people. We had a table with bottle service in the side room on the first floor. Individual drinks range about $12-15. The bottles were very expensive, about $4-500 for Grey Goose if I remember correctly. Cristal was about $600+, which is about right. Our cocktail waitress was extremely attentive considering the place was over capacity that night. She was also careful to ensure that people not in our party didn't try to snag some of our drinks. She asked several times "Is that guy in your group?" and if they weren't, she made sure they didn't touch our stuff. The look of the place is really cool. The walls, bars, and wall seating all had light panels that constantly shifted color smoothly, giving the place a really interesting mood. The DJ was pretty good, slinging some mash-ups but mostly Euro music, fitting the crowd composition well.Downstairs is a coat check, restroom, and VIP area. For $20 you get access to Reggaeton rather than Euro, and plastic women wearing negligees rather than energetic girls with an urge to dance, like on the main floor. The parking structure closes at 1 a.m., so I had to rush out to move the car before it got stuck there. On the way out, the bouncer stopped me, saying I wouldn't be let back in since they were at capacity. I explained my situation (my coat was still checked, and the three girls I brought were still inside) and he wouldn't budge. Finally, his more amiable compatriot gave me a ten-minute window to return. After running madly up the street and moving the car, they did stay true to their word and let me in, ahead of the line, back to the dance floor.Next time I'm in Boston I'll probably try to go here, but this place is too expensive and pretentious to make a regular spot.

I wasn't that impressed with 33 during Restaurant Week 2008. The $14 cocktail was weak in proof and flavor as well, consisting mainly of soda water. It wasn't good enough to make me want another and it was just enough to make me sleepy. The salad was average, the $9 upgrade "Faux Tenderloin" itself was good but the sides were lukewarm to cold. The $4 upgrade desert tasted very out-of-box and the ice cream with it was grainy.Others at the table had mixed reviews as well. One found the steak delightful with the addition of shaved black truffle at least. Another found the Oysters ($9 upgrade) absolutely inedible and in fact could not even swallow a mouthful. Seeing her turn green across the table was QUITE alarming. Yet another had a delightful cut of tasty salmon with a delicious  vanilla custard(?) type dessert. Conclusion: 3 stars is not worth 5 $'s IMO. One would expect for that kind of money for there not to be burnt out bulbs and cracked mirrors in the place at least if not superb food. I'll pass on this place in the future.

Hope you have money when you get here...If not, find another spot. Look your best cause it's a competition before you get the the doorman...LoL When you are in line, expect to be "sized-up." It's fun but not for everyone. There are 2 floors. The one on the bottom only holds about 40 peeps. Ground floor, maybe 200, including the dance floor. Bathrooms located downstairs. There is only 1 bar. The wait for a drink can be upsetting at times

This is my second time being here, and although the first time wasn't bad, the second time (recently in June), was just not what you expect a restaurant of this class to be. The service was not bad, but the drinks and food was really complained about at my dinner table. I had a Salmon and that was good, but not memorable. My friends were saying that the mashpotatoes taste like instant, which by the way who would do that? And the drinks just didn't fullfill what the menu said. Go there make your opinion on it, but it's not a dinning place that would blow your mind or make you a regular.

Never again. A group of us came here for restaurant week, tricked by what sounded like a mouth watering restaurant week menu. Wrong. Ay caramba, where to begin? Our waiter appeared drunk and mumbly- someone who you would avoid on the train. The cocktails were overpriced- HAHAHAH laugh out loud overpriced. The salmon was bone dry overcooked. The brownie sundae dessert was rock hard and tasted more like a day-old biscuit. Come ON, people. How can you mess up a brownie sundae? We all bonded over the shared awful-ness of the experience, and will never, ever come here again.1/2 star, if possible.

I've been trying to live my life more spontaneously (i.e. not yelping every restaurant before I look at the menu) and this is one of the few times I've been glad. I was surprised to find out that it only has 3 stars. We went last week for a nice night on the town. I thought I might be a little under dressed for the venue, but when we walked up to the door to look at the menu, we were warmly received by the smiling general manager (?). He chatted with us for a while and held the door for us when we went in.There weren't very many people at 8 on a Wednesday, and the service was snappy. We ordered a couple of cocktails and looked at the menu. I got some blood orange something or other which was not only super tasty, but gave me a little buzz (hard to do on my first drink) and ordered the Three Tartares appie. This was the highlight of my meal. Tuna, beef and beat tartares. If you're just going for a drink and a bite, order this to share with whoever you are trying to impress. If they don't like any of them, fake an injury and run away before they suck the fun out of your life. The rundown on the rest of the meal:Raspberry Sangria with dinner - I liked it and I don't even really enjoy sangria as a ruleRoasted Casco Bay Cod (fucking brilliant!)Birch Beer Braised Short Ribs which melted in your mouthSide of Truffle Fries and Truffle Mac Cheese with baconDessert - Tahitian Vanilla Been PannacottaAnd everything actually tasted as good as it sounds; a rare find in my opinion. The waiter was attentive with water and drinks throughout the entire 3.5 hours we were there. FIVE STARS!

Fan Fare at its finest. Exquisite taste. Creative Menu. Expert Celebrity Executive Chef Anthony Dawodu with a decadent, chic, modern decor gave me the only choice in choosing 33 as THE spot to spend my Saturday evening. I hosted a dinner party of 15 at 33 and all were delighted and still raving about their experience the next day. Considering the fact that a few members of our party were late the restaurant were still generous and accomodating in having our table set up. 33 Restaurant Lounge features a popular Contemporary American menu, uniquely fusing traditional New England cuisine with hints of the exotic. The flavorful menu has gained popularity for its versatility in vegetarian options as well as the ability for dishes to cater to dietary needs. The decor was very modern and elegant. A two level area with an outdoor dining patio where young revelers of the night congregate after 10 makes this place the venue of choice in having dinner and then dancing the night away afterwards. The audio system could have been better but that was overshadowed by the visuals of the hypnotic lighting system set up in the restaurant that fades from blue to red to green causing a soothing view for the eye and mind. The night filled with tantalizing beautiful young people kept this place as savvy as could be and offering my party yet another form of eye candy. For starters I had ordered,Steak Tartar(Seasoned Prime Beef with Traditional Condiments, a Horseradish Parmesan Tuile and Cashew Nut Tomato Oil $16) Delightfully great with a nice taste of citrus that left a creamy yet smooth aftertaste. The prime beef was also nicely prepared which offered a soft texture that melted in your mouth.Baby Mesclun Greens(Baby Mesclun Greens, Cherry Tomatoes and Carrots Dressed with a Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette $8) It was fresh, cool, crisp, and refreshing. The sauce I believe was made from scratch so that gave the flavor and appeal to the salad a more satisfying effect. The cherry tomatoes were delectable. It was a salad..nothing great but it definately wasn't bad.My friend had ordered theTruffle Gnocchi(Sauted with Chunks of Lobster Meat, Petits Pois and a Porcini Emulsion $19) This was amazing how the sauce and the lobster meat stuffed and infused into the pasta just blended so well. The price was intimidating but I know why now.As my entree I went with seafood considering New England is known for producing the great catch. So I ordered,Native Striped Bass(Roasted Beets, Fresh Mango and Thai Curry Bouillon $27)This was splendid. It was nice and chunky and the cut into the fish was juicy enough to have a very rich filling taste without the fish flaking. The sides I had was the Truffle Mac n Cheese which was great as well. Mac n Cheese is very hard to compare and critique as most people's versions of it especially on the East Coast is uniquely different. The grilled asparagus was also nice and crispy. The snap a roasted and grilled asparagus is a sure sign that the Chef knew what he was doing in the kitchen when he prepared it.My friends had orderedSurf Turf Beef Tenderloin**( 1/2 Lobster with Sautéed Mushrooms, Garlic Spun Potatoes and Peppercorn Jus $42) It was good but I expected to be of better taste. It may have to do with the fact my friend ordered the tenderloin well done. Big Faux Pas to do... always order your steak Medium to Medium-Rare. Lobster was great and there was no surprise considering Boston is known for seafoods among other things.Another friend at the table had,Lamb Cannon(Shank Confit, Eggplant Couscous and a Falafel Spiced Lamb Reduction $28) I am definitely looking to order this dish next time. Enough Said!!!For dessert,Trio of Crème Brulées(Vanilla Bean Raspberry, Ginger and Espresso) * To Die For!Since it was a friend's Bday the staff was generous to bring out a complimentary dessert...this dessert was huge enough for the table!Flight of Chocolate Desserts(Mini Warm Chocolate Cake, Brownie with Mocha Mousse, Milk Chocolate Pot de Crème and Hazelnut Tonka Bean Ice Cream Sandwich)Someone else ordered the,Bananas Foster Bread Pudding(Double Chocolate Ice Cream with Sautéed Bananas) This wasn't bad at all. Very smooth, velvety, and sweet. Im' not too fond of chocolate but i had no problem going in for a second taste of this.As noted on the website, the carte du jour is the constantly changing and extensive wine list featuring both American and International selections with a focus on important small producers. To complete the unforgettable experience, an award winning 33 Cocktail Menu tempts all from the suit-clad after work crowd to the late night bar and dining scene.

A friend took me here for my birthday in November, when I told him I wanted to hang out at a place like the ones we have back home-- not quite a club, more of a trendy bar/lounge. I was a bit disappointed.First, the bouncer gave me a lot of shit for having a Puerto Rican ID. Listen, I know they're pretty flimsy, but I can't help that the Puerto Rican government doesn't care to make more sophisticated-looking IDs, so cut me some slack.  After a bit of back-and-forth, lots of pouting and saying it was my birthday, he finally let me in. I was a bit impressed at first, because the crowd seemed to scream MONEYYYYY, but the place is nothing special. It felt very "restaurant with tables pushed to the side and turned into a bar", which it kind of was. The drinks weren't super expensive, at $6 for a beer, which is OK. The music was OK too. Overall, not really my thing, but I wouldn't mind going back.

Eddie Crue is a terrible VIP rep.  I paid a shitload of money and was moved around to different tables countless times.  He had no idea what he was doing.  Oh and bottle service -- just to warn you, your server isn't going to make your drinks.  If that isn't the biggest BS you've ever heard, go and see for yourself.  Yes, I had a fun time once the buzz set in, but all together I was not having it.

I made one mistake before coming here--I didn't check yelp first.  I wouldn't have bothered based on the accurate (negative) reviews here.My review is specifically for the restaurant.  Later in the evening, when it becomes more of a club, it is what it is, and if that's what you're looking for, then you'll have fun.  But it's not a good restaurant.  Bad vibe--lights changing color constantly, so-so food.I had the gnocchi bolonese.  It was way to creamy and the gnocchi had no bounce left to them (microwaved perhaps?).  In fact everything on the menu was way to creamy, so definitely steer clear if that's not your thing.

Dear manager,You are doing pretty good job on hiring descent staffs. Most of them are polite and articulate on their task.Dear bartender,Please don't distract me while calculating tip by leaning over the counter  to show off your rack at me. I am trying my best to recollect my memories of what happened here. I had "the hangover of the century" after I came out of this place.Price of drinks are right on market price. $5~6 a beer.I thought the decor in the basement was better than the upstairs. It made me feel that I was Chris Kettan in "Night at the Roxbury"This is fun and reasonable place if you go with right people.

This place serves dinner until probably 10-11pm.  There are two floors.  Sometimes the lines can get really long.  So, get there early around 10:30pm to avoid the lines. This place reminds me of places I've visited in the meat packing district in NYC.  I've never had dinner here but I'd like to sometime.

Went here for dinner on a Friday night around 8ish.  The waiter was nice, but had no clue about wine or food.  When I asked for a wine recommendation he said that all the wines they have are the best and the only real difference is price and taste (ummm, no kidding).  I had the salmon dish and it was sooooo oily!  I couldn't believe it.  First the cut looked like a salmon steak served as a fillet and salmon is already an oily fish, you don't need to triple the oil/butter.  While i was close to finishing up dinner the waiters were disassembling the tables around us to get ready for the night crowd.  I get that this place is a restaurant and lounge but don't make me rush to eat my dinner so you can fold up my table.  The only reason I came here was because of a http://restaurant.com giftcertificate, but if i had known what i was in for i would have just skipped it.

A hip, shi shi type of place.  For a night out, Bar 33 isn't too bad for drinks and dancing, though as someone else mentioned, the wait for a drink can be long at the bar.  You are meant to look pretty here, a place to see and be seen.  Wednesdays used to be Asian night, if you're into that, but I haven't been out in a while so not sure if that is still true or not.  Came for a birthday dinner once and was sorely disappointed--not good and overpriced.  Go elsewhere for your food.

To be fair, I haven't tried the food and I don't like clubs. I'm just trying to reach out to anyone who may be like me. But if you are in to the club scene- feel free to ignore this. Not a fan. My friend insisted on going to a club and getting bottle service for his birthday.  Not really my thing but he's my best friend so I go.I'm 5'8 and I'm pretty sure I was taller than everyone at the bar besides the people we were with.  The dancing women projection was very distracting and in my opinion, trashy.  Random people kept coming over and sitting down hoping to maybe get a free drink. I'm giving this place two stars though because the service was good and so were the drinks.

As a restaurant the place is decent but as a night club I could say that it's by far the most RACIST place I have ever been to. I could not believe how could some one in this day and age still think and act ratially. We were there just a few weeks ago and believe me when I say that this place is dead during the summer, instead of trying to keep their customers they actually push you away for good.happened exactly but I can assure you that this place is by far the most RACIST place ever. DON'T GO HERE!! THEY ARE RUDE AND RACIST. this place makes me disgusting. We went here for dinner a bit early and had dinner and drinks here. We were told that the restaurant becomes a club after 11 when dinner stops. There were 4 of us eating at the restaurant. One of my guy friends decided since there wasn't much going on around 930 to stop by at the next door bar. We just went in there for 15 min and head back to 33. We were confronted with by one of the bouncers whose name I asked later (Frankie)  told us that we have to wait in line again even though 2 of our other friends were still inside eating. We were so upset that we asked for the manager and that's when another bouncer named Brian came out. We eneded up argueing with him and he told us we are not allowed inside even if we waited because we weren't listening to them. While argueing the other bouncer Frankie told us to go F*** ourselves (Sand Nig****) and leave. We were shocked. We ended up leaving in shock.   DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE AT ALLTHEY ARE RUDE AND RACIST.

33 is a good choice for dinner--not so much for a bar/club (bad DJs, weird crowd, some majorly skeevy dudes who ogle at girls all night--ok, maybe that's most bars/clubs). The dinners here are great, a must-try.

Don't know anything about the restaurant, so this is just the nightlife.  I'll start with the caveat that I like clubby/loungey/pretentious places, and hate Fanueil Hall meat markets, so your mileage may vary.I went with 3 other friends, started downstairs, moved around a lot.  Good dancing both downstairs (kind of a small lounge/bar) and upstairs, and it was summer, so the patio outside was open which was nice.I liked the crowd a lot, definitely much more young professional and foreign than other places I've been to in the city.  Drinks are priced pretty normally (about $6 or 7 for a beer).  I'll give it 4 stars for now, I might update once I go back again.

I keep going here and it just keep on sucking! The DJs play the most ridiculous music sometimes. It's like they just want to play their super cool set that they sat in their tiny apartment putting together with their big headphones and probably with their eyes closed and they don't care what we want. We are PAYING to be there and drink and listen to music and dance - you should play what we ask you to play and not weird stuff form Iceland that no one can dance to. Don't be snotty - you are just a DJ, you are not that cool. This has happened so many times with a few different DJs and its just so annoying. Fun place - went for a girl's night out and had a great time. Drinks are good but expensive as has…

Oh 33, you should probably just calm down and quit trying to be something you're not.  Your food is delicious, and I love your drinks (especially the Sangria).  But come on...no one is buying this act of being upscale.

Can't get you out of my head, 33 TINI. Your fresh strawberries, Sour Apple Liquer and dash of Hypnotiq. I'm out in SF now, but I've left my heart in you.Though I've long graduated from my clubbing days at 33, I'd go back for the drinks, patio seating, and bar bites. And for old time's sake, maybe sneak in an early bird dance downstairs. That is, if I can stay awake until the DJ arrives!

if i could give this place negative stars, i would. these guys ruined my valentine's day. i'm still angry about it. i couldn't talk to a manager because he was AVOIDING me since he knew i was mad, so i figured that the chicken can take a hit on yelp, because i know i will be avoiding 33 permanently.my boyfriend and i made plans to go to their 5 courses for 99 dollars special for valentine's day. the fact that tons of spots were open should've tipped me off, but i'd been for lunch and it was okay, so we went over.i was presented with a wilted rose upon entering. strike one.it took a considerable amount of time for us to even get a drink order in. their excuse? "we're busy." well that's why 3 servers are standing completely idle, right? you're busy because your extra staff can't work? because it's really 20 minutes of difficult to pour a flute of champagne and stick a strawberry in it?apparently they began running out of food too. because it took us ROUGHLY 3 HOURS to get our main course, but i'll get to that in a minute. the poor planning and execution of VALENTINE'S NIGHT, arguably one of the most busy nights for ANY restaurant, is appalling. the food was decent up to a point. i remember a boring salad, some lovely butternut bisque (that took an hour to get to the table. our five course meal was an hour a course, if you can believe it.) two heart shaped raviolis in sage butter (which were delicious, but also took an hour after the prior course to get there), and then things went horribly, horribly wrong.45 minutes after the delicious ravioli, i was presented with a debacle of a main course. it was a take on manicotti with eggplant. the dish was COMPLETELY unseasoned. it was like chewing on a piece of burnt rubber. the cheese inside was merely okay, but it tasted like someone boiled an eggplant (with no salt) and stuck plain ricotta cheese in there. i couldn't even stomach it, it nauseated me.now, we're paying 99 dollars per person for some d-list food. the manager is avoiding me like the plague because i'm ripshit and my valentine's night is ruined by this terrible, terrible meal. you figure it can't get any worse, right?wrong.to add insult to injury, they brought out dessert - it was HEINOUS. a red velvet cake (which was half of what they were serving earlier, judging by the quality of the hockey puck they served maybe they scraped it off of someone else's plate.) it was the worst red velvet cake i'd ever had. i couldn't get through it without some major effort with a fork and knife. and even then the one bite i struggled through was utterly TERRIBLE. by this point, our waiter, the master of oblivion, has noticed that i'm getting more and more steamed by the minute. my poor boyfriend is apologizing to me for their incompetence and repeated screwups. and instead of handling the situation? the waiter brings me a card, and says "this guy does wine tastings, you'd enjoy that!"let me know when 33 fires its entire wait staff, incompetent managers and pathetic excuses for line cooks and i'll consider going there again, but for now, i'd consider a meal at mcdonalds a step up from that valentine's day debacle.oh, and by the way? they forgot our complimentary truffles, too. thumbs way, way way way down. we paid 100 bucks each for the worst dining experience of our lives. we got suckered. don't fall for the same garbage.

My wife and I came here for dinner one night.  The ambiance was kind of a swanky bar lounge.  (Big surprise, huh?  its a lounge)  In any case, our server was really great and was able to tell us about the menu.  It was quite a pleasant experience because of that.  The food was pretty decent, but a bit on the expensive side for the food.

I can't really vouch for 33 as a nightclub or bar, but from start to finish the dinner is fantastic. My honey and I received a gift certificate for a free prix fixe meal at 33 after we dined at Stix for restaurant week this past spring. While we found Stix... well, fine, but pretty much a one-time experience, we found 33 to be out of this world. The wine pairings (flight of 3) were spectacular -- totally spot on. And it's tough to satisfy me with this type of thing, as I'm one of those people who pretty much drinks what I like without a lot of regard for how it pairs with food. But here, the connections were really obvious. That may have been because of the bold flavours of the food. Categorically, everything was wonderful. So wonderful that, as someone who has sworn off beef for health and sanitation reasons, I still had a few bites of my boyfriend's wagyu steak. The frites were fantastic, crispy and perfectly seasoned. And it wasn't even my meal!!For main course I had the Indian-styled fish, which came with a salmon-sprinkled rice pilaf and raita on the side. This was fantastic. By this point I was totally stuffed and would have no room for dessert, so I took some home and am enjoying the leftovers right now. The desserts were awesome but I was so full by then! The highlight of the meal, though, was what came first -- a plate of gorgeous little lamb kaftedes (like meatballs) on perfectly seasoned tzatziki with crisped-yet-soft pit triangles. Sounds simple, but it was absolutely the best thing we had that night. And the atmosphere is glammy and fun! And the service was really good. I appreciated that my server laid it to me straight that the salad was just a salad and affirmed that I should go for the lamb kaftedes.

I've only been here for the club aspect so I don't know about it much otherwise. As a club it's average; $6.00 and up for beers, $12-ish for mixed drinks. Kind of expensive but it's a higher-end night club in the heart of Boston so you can't expect much else.A lot, and I mean a LOT, of the club patrons are European. This place must be "the place to go" if you're from Europe and live in Boston. 33 isn't really a college club likely because of its prices. The club is relatively small, with a walking area surrounding the O-shaped bar and a small dance floor approximately 16'x16'.During my first time there I didn't see a live DJ but I don't know if he was behind a wall, somewhere raised, in the VIP lounge, etc.. just heard the music. The music style is mainly techno and dance beat stuff- no hip hop or rap that I heard. So, if that's what you're looking for, steer far away from 33.Overall it's a good club.. the prices are hefty, bartenders don't really pay attention to you and just whip up your drinks and expect a big tip, and the crowd is older (25+). I saw maybe 3 college-aged kids there and the place was PACKED on a Saturday night.

Round 2 at 33:Discovered Zen+Sprite/Tonic.  Apparently, 33 is one of the few bars that serves Zen, green tea liqueur.  It sucks that it costs $9 a glass when it's mostly ice, but it's very yummy. This time, we successfully ordered from the bar menu ($3 dishes, essentially a dollar a piece b/c its 3 for $3):- Cocktail shrimp ... very large, cold, springy, delicious- Sliders ... good for its price, but not wow- Lamb chops ... good value- Raw oysters ... why did they put the sauces on them for you already?I'll come back for a Zen+Sprite and the bar menu.  Would I recommend this venue for a friend's birthday?  Yeah, if everyone isn't broke or has a job. First time I went was on a Friday "club" night for a friend's 22nd birthday.  Drinks:Needless to…

This is going to be the most useless review for anyone looking to go to this place as a nightclub or even as a restaurant. There are two things that factor heavily into this review:(1) This was a wedding. The place was otherwise closed.(2) We brought our three-month-old daughter. (She was specifically invited and had her own place setting. The song with her name in the title was on the wedding playlist. She was perfectly behaved and everyone was glad to see her.)Food was great. Appetizers passed around were shrimp cocktail (enormous and delicious), stuffed mushrooms (delicious), lamb rib chops (missed 'em), and some salmon things (ick). Dinner was a NY strip streak grilled correctly with asparagus spears, whipped potatoes, and waffle fries. The staff was extremely quick and attentive. Despite the fact that this is definitely not a family restaurant, they offered to park our babyholdermachine in the coat closet and even allowed my wife to use a side storage room to feed the baby. The interior is interesting. The ceiling is cool, the color-shifting lights are cheesy, and the stairway is bizarre. What were they thinking? How irresponsible to have a fun house stair way in a place that sells alcohol!

Did I have a good experience at 33? Yes. But would I go back? No.I went here for dinner with a coupon from http://restaurant.com. We ordered the diver scallops and the pecan crusted salmon.  For $27, there were 3 scallops on the plate. While they tasted good, $27 seemed a bit steep for the small amount of food on the plate: 3 scallops, 3 tiny (and bland) polenta circles, 3 fried oysters and a small pile of watercress. The salmon was cooked perfectly, but the pecan crusting was a strange accompaniment. First of all, there was too much of it. It was a bit dry and tasted like it belonged with a dessert. The food was tasty, but nothing special. And $14 for a drink? No thanks. The ambiance was nice (I liked the color changing bar) and service was good. All in all, a good experience, but the food was not good enough to warrant the steep price tag or a return visit.

So my friends and I knew someone throwing a party here last weekend. The co-host who we knew was out sick and told one of the bouncers to take care of us and give us the "bottle service" that we were promised. After paying the $15 cover charge, we found the bouncer ("TJ") in question, who verbally bashed both the sick co-host and us for thinking that we should get what we were promised. It's not that he wasn't told, he just disagreed with the decision to give us what our friend had promised us. We asked for our money back, and were denied. Someone needs to read this guy section 90 of the Restatement (2d) of contracts. I am never going here again.

Went here for dinner last night and I was very impressed; definitely one of the best meals I've had in Boston. Dinner starts with bread and some concocted mix of olive oil, capers, garlic, and anchovies. I was skeptical of it because the capers and anchovies made it sound unappealing, but it was actually quite good. Then we ordered off the extended prix fixe menu, which basically meant there were some added items that made it a little more than the usual $33. I started out with the minestrone and my date got the caesar salad, both were good. For the main course, I got the gnocchi with veal and prosciutto, which was was excellent. He got the steak which he enjoyed too. Then for dessert, we got creme brulee and the molten chocolate cake. Both were soooo delicious. The chocolate that flowed out of the cake was like a divine taste from heaven. Oh, and I cant forget the raspberry sangria, chock full of strawberries, blueberries, apples, oranges. It was sweet and a whole pitcher went down smooth! All in all, if you are looking for an excellent meal and dont mind paying a little extra, this is a great place to go. Everyone there is very dressed up even for dinner, so find an excuse to put on your best dress, loosen your purse strings for a night, and treat yourself to a great dinner. You won't be disappointed.

Honestly, the decor of this place is about all that it has going for it. If you go here for a night out, you will find yourself wasting all of your time at the under-served and over-priced bar. For a $14 drink, you'd think that you'd get something other then a small plastic cup over-filled with ice. For some reason they find this acceptable. The drink menu is decent, just over priced and under poured.Furthermore, I've never had a problem getting into the club as I'm usually always dressed up, but the bouncers are never consistent as to who they discriminate against. They will pick people out for not following their "dress code" and wearing sneakers while half the guys in the club are wearing them. I had a friend wearing a DG Shirt get rejected. Most of the guys there are dressed in af crap. Who are they kidding?!Lastly, the crowd at this club has to be the weirdest mix of people you have ever seen. Don't ever try to meet anyone at this sketch place.

Came for dinner on a Thursday night. The restaurant is really nice. It was pretty empty the entire evening. Large place, seems like it would be fun on a weekend.Food was just okay. Pricey for something that was decent but nothing really special. Tried the fried calamari as an appetizer. Then had the Merluzzo. It was tasty, a tad dry, but decent overall. Also tried the Chocolate sampler. That was perfect to accompany my red wine.Service was outstanding! She was incredibly attentive, friendly, helpful. That stuck out to me the entire night. She saw me coughing and chugging my water once in the evening, and immediately came to refill my water from across the room. She was great.I'll come back to check out the late night scene, but might hold off on the dinner.
