I was on a mission to find a hookah lounge in El Paso. To my dismay, after some research, I found out that most places are closed due to the fact that it was found that hookah would be the same as smoking indoors, which is against the law here. Anyway, found this place on google, and decided to give it a go. I went on a Saturday, called ahead and was told there will be a $2 cover. They don't serve alcohol here, so it's BYOB. Cover is $4 for those who are drinking. We drove out here and found that this "lounge" is pretty hidden. We asked a group of kids whether or not we were at the right spot, and it was confirmed: yes, the hookah place is here!Woohoo! Success. Except...not. Because this place is pretty much a shit-hole. It can be described as some guy opening up his basement to allow you to smoke some hookah. The place was small, no bigger than a standard high school classroom. I think this is a cool spot for the under-21 crowd to hang. I'm not sure though...Anyway, got my hookah for $15, and found out they only have 1 tip left for my party of 4 to share. I guess that's okay. They also had the "bubble" contraption there for you to use. Meaning, you can blow your smoke into a bubble. That, also, is not washed. So, depending on how sketchy you want your Saturday night to be, Yes Sumatra Hookah Lounge may or may not be for you. For me, I think I will have to pass, and just open up a hookah lounge at my own place. At least then I will know I won't catch any type of disease there.
